[IC]TotMG:LF The Ships

StormLord

Recommended Posts

Dangerous Game:
The dragon is eventually defeated and its horde is collected for one [Huge pile of Gold].

Pandlantis:

The bullimongs are defeated, the shaft descended into, and mcguffin collected before returning.

White Dove:

The target is successfully escorted through the sewers after a pair of increasingly bullshit encounters.

Ships:

Once aboard the ships again the party is left mostly to their own devices, no immediate call from Jack yet, though there seem to be things on the bounty board again.

Stella drifted about the cramped space of the Hyperion ship with some sort of mixed intrest and distaste.
Small, Cramped, Plain. Living out of this would be a horrible idea, yet she couldent imagine the pirate's ship would be any better. The benefits of the extra size would no doubt be offset by its crude occupants and rowdy thugs.

Then again. Space was important to fit in improvements.

Though at the moment she dident have much with her to make such improvements. Maybe she should call something in?
....No, she would leave it be for now. This trip would be more intresting if she explored more first before deciding how she wanted to change things.

More immediately, she needed something to do, and she was not immediately getting ideas for anything to make, nothing all that motivating anyways. And there was no space to move in here either. She was to used to large rooms, open temples, and the void of space.

So after a moment of thought, without any warning to anyone else, she takes off like a rocket for the airlock....and teleports to the other side, leaping freely into the starless emptiness. Its not space exactly, but at least she has room to stretch her legs and fly around.....

Maybe she could find something out here? She loops around the ship a few times, following along, looking it over from the outside, before looking out into the expanse, the mist of stardust, and energy around her, and the glittering of her godly attire standing out in the blackness.

Jack was on his own ship, arranging with the carpenter/surgeon to get the dragon's head attached to the bow of the shit to act as a figurehead, much to the chagrin of the long haired man. There's some gawking and startled shouts from the crew as Stella decides to take a little flight around the Hyperion ship, but Jack is quick to get them back to work. He himself did pause to look at the ship though, mostly because he realized they should probably find some way to communicate between them.

As Stella stared out into the twisting, swirling depths of oblivion.  Something surely powerful enough to drive any of the more mortal party members thoroughly mad.  She felt an odd tug inside, everything here was as full and empty as it ever was, but a different kind of empty than the void near her homeworld.  She felt the urge to venture out and explore each of these new distant places, and at the same time she knew if she ventured too far out without knowing how to navigate in this new region she would surely lose the ships and her new companions.  Along with any real chance of navigating back to her own world.

The carpenter nods and gets to work mounting the impressive prize.

Harmony

Through the group's descent into the ruins and rather one sided slaughter of the Bullymongs, Harmony decided that actually sticking around might actually be worth it, seeing all the interesting individuals that populated this rag-tag group. What she didn't account for was the accomadations she would have to work with, mainly an utterly horrid ship that seemed more like a patchwork of various shipping containers than anything flight worthy. As one who enjoyed aesthetics, she could feel her very soul screeching in pain every time she examined... Any of the ship's parts, really, even if she couldn't do anything about said design currently.

So, she took up some space for herself, materializing her surprisingly large quantity of art supplies and getting to work on her next piece. Namely a replica of the ruins that she had gone through, moments before being obliterated by a bomb. It was enough to keep her distracted from the tragedy that she forced herself to sit in.

Sucrose skips up and down the halls of the ship, giggling merrily.  She hasn't been harvested, she gets to be on this ship of neat organic life, and she even got to study a huge specimen up close earlier!

This has been an utterly wonderful cycle so far!

It's a bit of a traitorous thought, but she was originally slated for harvesting because her prototypical line lacked practical application in a colony-setting.  Perhaps if she can learn even more about organic life, she could convince the higher-ups that there's some untapped potential!

"Oh, I'm so excited I could just sing!" she mutters with glee, humming an aimless tune as she skips around while shapeshifting her innards in twisted internal experiments.

The skipping and near-singing caught Scarlet's attention. While she wasn't generally fond of the noise, it didn't bother her unduly, and it reminded her of a friend. Plus, they might be able to help her with her current problem. The ex-pirate popped out of a nearby doorway and waved down Sucrose. "Are you excited because you found something for me to stitch people back together with?" she asked dryly. For Sucrose, Scarlet would have been an intriguing sight. Her biology was a normal human one at first glance, but there were far too many metallic somethings circulating in her body for that to be the case.

Sucruse gapes openly at Scarlet.

"Well now, you might be the most interesting organic lifeform I've ever seen!  Just where did you come from, you lovely lovely biomass?" she says, walking around Scarlet and scrutinizing her.

"Oh how I'd love to know how you got metal of all things into your cellular makeup.  Is it bacterial?  Viral?  Some sort of adaptation?  Oooh, surely it couldn't be nanotechnology, even Gem technology doesn't show hallmarks like those little metal fellows infesting you!"

She realizes what Scarlet asked only after satisfying her curiosity.

"Stitching...?  Oh!  Oh, do you do some sort of organic repairs?  How exciting, repairing organic lifeforms using 'stitching', it sounds so hilariously ineffective, and yet... Oh, I simply must see for myself how biomass reacts to being repaired in that way!"

She scratches her chin, before giggling.

"Alright, let's find you some materials!" she says, taking a moment to shapeshift as she cups her hands around her eyes like binoculars, with her eyes somehow poking out of the end after a brief flash of light.

"Nowhere in particular," she answered absentmindedly as the odd being began to gawk at her, more or less. "And yeah, I'm a field medic. More or less." Given the barrage of questions and statements, she elected not to answer the bit about her nanites, instead moving onto the practical bit. "I'm going to skip the part where I ask you if you know where to find death stickers and you ask me what those are. I need swaged needles, disinfectants, and anesthetics, in that order. Everything else I can improvise." Scarlet also chose not to comment on the gem's shapeshifting. She'd only seen anything like it one time, and didn't particularly care to rehash that memory.

Sucrose gives Scarlet a vacant look.

"I don't know anything about deeseinfectants or anysthetics, but I can probably come up with something." she giggles, puffing out her cheek while the gemstone embedded in it glows brightly.

"These very special candies are made of light.  Whatever cellular mass consumed the sugars for fuel, I get to tell it what to do for a while!"

"So if these deeseinfectants or anysthetics do something to organic biomass, then these can too, I bet."
She offers a smile as she holds out the plain white candy, like a pearl or a jawbreaker, it shimmers softly.

"Of course, I'm pretty sure I could do more, if I had some actual sugars to study and mess with, but eh, what can you do?"

"Hey, wassup?" Zoe Walker slides up to the Enterprise's rail next to Captain Jack, and gives him a two-fingered wave with her left hand.  "Man, does this take me back.  Haven't been on a ship like this in slagging ages!  Bit small, but there's a certain charm in it, especially with the crew hopping.  You know, Jack, I caught your name, but I don't ever think I caught what you call this little beauty."  She gestures expansively over the deck and masts.

Jack smiles with a nod at the mention of his ship's "quirks". "Aye, I've heard of the massive beasts of metal they have in the future. I love my ship of course, but it'd be hard to contend with a ship big enough to launch smaller air ships any day.... As for the ship, if you want to be official she's "The Free Enterprise". But personally, I just call her "The Enterprise"."

Jack smiles happily as if recalling a nostalgic memory.

"Hah!  I've been on an Enterprise before.  Not the famous ones, but maybe this one'll be the first Enterprise I've visited to really make her mark," Zoe sighs, looking back over the ship again, "Makes me miss my old ship.  The Red Dawn was my home for longer than anywhere else.  But on her last mission she got blasted pretty good.  Still holds atmosphere, but she'll never leave orbit again without extensive repairs... or a tug.  Some seer I turned out to be, or maybe the other paths would've been worse.  Hard to say.  Had to rent her hull out as office space just to pay to keep her out of impound.  But someday I'll get the funds to get her running again, get the crew back together...  And the next time I ignore the voices in my head and do the right thing, I'm gonna make damn well sure someone's offered to pay for repairs first."

Jack shrugs.

"If we're acquiring your ship, it'll be because we scraped together the coin to get 'er fixed. I may be a pirate, but the only disloyalty I actively pursue are towards the crown and all others that would hold people like me down!"

Jack poses for a second with his hands on his hips before deflating slightly and clearing his throat.

"Sorry, I lose myself a bit when I get started going like that. Doubt you think I really believe that anyhow."

"Uh. . . huh." She hadn't exactly expected that. Despite the hypocrisy, archaeotech that fiddled with biology wasn't the most comforting thing in the world to her, something that showed in her more-suspicious-than-usual expression. "Disinfectants kill pathogens and anesthetics numb body parts." Scarlet also wasn't going to ask how she didn't know what either of those things were prior to this point. "Of course, I don't think it'll kill viruses, but those are a bitch and a half regardless."

"Hahaha, yes, a joke, that is what that was," Zoe coughs awkwardly, "Eh, I've committed piracy a few times over the years.  Wouldn't call myself a professional, but sometimes the jackass on the receiving end of that freighter full of rare earths just wouldn't appreciate it like I do..."

Jack nods. "Gods, ain't that the truth. You wouldn't believe how many crews just hand over their cargo when we fly the colors and start approaching.... I would, because I used to just be a sailor, but a lot of the new blood we get always seems surprised at how easy it is." Jack says matter of factly.

"A good warning shot from the Dawn's main battery usually got them cooperative," Zoe reminisces, "Merchantmen generally don't feel too confident about their chances against the big guns once they know said guns are operational.  Lots of pirates would buy old cruisers with spiked main battery guns, and then try to bluff it out, and once the traders and especially the military convoy escorts figured that out, they stopped responding to just a polite request.  Rather inconvenient, but some blanks across the bow made for a decent motivator."

A loud thud sounds behind the two, and Zoe turns around to behold a giant crate with a sticky note attached to the side.  "Military surplus QT communication suite," She reads off, "Suitable for all voidcraft at interstellar distances of 'yes', and inter-dimensional distances of 'probably but we're not guaranteeing it'.  One for the sailing ship Enterprise and one delivered to the Hyperion corvette My First Ship IV.  Additional units available on request.  Wouldja look at that, Sam came through!  Communication links obtained and established!  Just gotta put this somewhere out of the weather and get the electronics set up."

Sucrose gives Scarlet another vacant look, but thinks a bit harder.

"Hmm..."

"Oh! You mean the tiny organic lifeforms, right?  Woop!" she shouts, breathing out an impossibly fine purple powder into her hands, and spitting out several tiny skulls.

"The powder tells the really tiny biomass that eats it to die, but doesn't tell the big biomass like you to do that, and the skulls tell those pesky pain-cells to take a break!.  Here ya go!" she says, handing over the candies and sugar.

"It sure is funny that you want to kill the really tiny ones, I mean, they're such cuties," Sucrose says, tapping Scarlet on the shoulder and giggling as she stares the finger she used to do it.

"I think I'll call you 'squirmy'." she says to the essentially invisible bacteria.

Quote

Death Powder:  A microscopically fine sugar dust that causes microorganisms that eat it to die. Has no effect on larger or complex organisms.

4X Numbskulls: A tiny skull shaped candy that totally nullifies pain for organic lifeforms.

Numb Skulls: One willing organic target gains 3d4+3 THP, but their current HP and damage they receive is obfuscated until the end of the encounter. Single Use.

Jack jumps at the thud, having been caught up in the talk of piracy and generally not expecting that. He quickly recovers and turns to listen to Zoe read off the note. With a nod he whistles for the crew to get the crate down to one of the spare rooms on the ship. "I'll have Surgeon John get it set up when he's done mounting our new figurehead.... Oh yeah, you weren't around to see that whole ordeal. You wanna hear about it?" Jack points to the dragon's head currently being mounted to the front of the ship as he mentions the ordeal.

"Probably more interesting than what we did.  All we got to do was fight some crazy people and giant four armed apes on an iceball in the middle of nowhere," Zoe sighs, "About the only fun we got to have was bombing our way through the entrance.  Lay the tale on me, space captain."
