Facing lots of lag and slowdowns.

Pokemon Spork(or any game that does not have an mkxp version) lags a lot on my laptop. My main problem is slowdowns in battle, and turning off animations doesn't seem to help much either. The game freezes for one second every time I select a move, or make a choice. Even speeding up doesn't seem to help. I've tried many things like:

-Went into my graphics card settings and did some tweaking there.

-Set it to high priority on task manager

-Reduced number of cores being used(heard somewhere that rmxp works well on a single core device idk), and so far this did help a little but there still were slowdowns.

I've heard nothing but good things about this game and I really do want to play it, so if there's anything I can do to reduce all the lag and the slowdowns, or if there's an mkxp version of this game, I'd really appreciate it.

that's normal, everyone has that lag because the game loads a file every time you choose a move iirc.  I don't think Spork has a mkxp version, so you will have to play like that, you'll get used to it

Spork doesn't have an mkxp version because I don't know how to make one*. I apologize for the inconvenience and I hope you're able to find an alternative to help reduce lag for Spork and other non-mkxp games

*I haven't looked into how to do so or what it is and the only thing I knew before reading this thread is that it's an alternative way to play (RPG Maker and/or Essentials?) games that works better for some people. It's possibly something I could look into in the future since I know a little more about it now from this thread (that it reduces lag for players who have trouble with lag normally) and that seems like it would be good to have . If it requires any amount of technical or programming knowledge I probably wouldn't be able to, so I can't make any guarantees, but I can look into it in the future at least.
