DaPika2
I lead with maractus, setting up spikes while the two trubbish were out, Maractus fainted the next turn in which i sent out fomantis spammed fury cutter until it died then switched to bayleef in wich I spammed razor leaf to finish the fight, The only reason I won was probably just my high levels, fomantis and bayleef lvl 20 and maractus lvl 11. Bayleef could tank about 5 hits from garbodor without dying so that was pretty helpful
DaPika2
And sure, when I get back to gearean I'll name it oh dear, BUT with proper capitalization

DaPika2
Well we're on to our next challenging fight of the game, Zetta. He's fought while trying to escape goldenwood forest, He has some annoying pokemon thats for sure. He has a Grimer and a Gloom, two pokemon deadly at this point in this challenge, fortunately he starts the battle wich could give us time to buff our stats before minior self destructs Edited January 7, 2021 by DaPika2
DaPika2
Fortunately I beat Zetta on my 3rd run back In which I lead with maractus, used growth once (since its boosted by the forest) and swept with mega drain, of course the battle isn't over yet since immediately after we have the battle with rift gyarados, the first and most definitely not our last, of course I'm obviously joking about the difficulty. While gyarados does have Ice fang and Fire fang, in this form it loses its flying typing I think it changes it out for dragon, so grass type moves are super effective again! And I got thorugh with only a bit of a burn... Edited January 7, 2021 by DaPika2
DaPika2
Ok so now we may be going into an impossible fight now, The first gym leader Venam. She uses poison types and my team isn't exactly fit to fight poison types. Plus we have 5 pokemon but only 4 are valid in the gym since cacnea is a shadow pokemon. This may go poorly. DaPika2
Ok Boy O Boy are we underprepared for Venam. I need to first find a way to eliminate the toxic battlefield. It takes out half the HP of my grass types when I send them out. Then I need a drastic power boost to kill the poison types. This is gonna take some studying. Suggestions anyone? DaPika2
Turns out I'm an idiot and I can catch a bellsprout in gearean city. Fortunately I haven't gotten an encounter here yet so... there we go.
DaPika2
So, Quick update with how the Venam Grind is going. I've come up with two plans. #1. I can Evolve Bellsprout all the way to victreebell using a rare cand to force it to lvl 21 to evolve, then a reverse candy to keep it under level cap, then use the leaf stone I found in Gearean park to evolve it to victreebell and cross my fingers I can beat venam (still need to find a rare candy) #2 Use Oh Dear the Deerlings move camoflauge to change its typing off of grass, we shall see if it works out. Crimson_Mc_Black
Use both if you can. Pretty sure there is a rare candy hiding some where might have to check the item guide for that
DaPika2
Im gonna need all of the luck I can get so we shall see. Still looking for a rare candy, the sources I've found for it so far are for previous versions so its gonna be a tad bit tricky Edited January 8, 2021 by DaPika2
DaPika2
Finally! Found a rare candy in the abandoned sewers left side (unlocked after fleeing goldenwood forest) Victreebel Obtained 9 and a half in game hours in Edited January 8, 2021 by DaPika2
DaPika2
Unfortunately I've run into some issues with venams special move "venams kiss" it 3 hits victreebell, anyone know how to deal with the move and the battlefield? Along with that issue I've been leveling up my pokemon, each of my pokemon is lvl 20 - Oh Dear, I am still missing a 6th party member so I will be looking for one, hopefully I can beat Venam soon Edited January 9, 2021 by DaPika2
SadMoney
Try cherubi to use sunny day Then use sleep powder and growth with victreebel or gloom Probably can sweep
DaPika2
where can I find a cherubi or a gloom? Edited January 9, 2021 by DaPika2
DaPika2
Ok unfortunately cherubi requres access to the hotel roof, and all other locations are later in the game. Gloom on the other hand, I'll see what I can do. Of course gloom comes with the added probelem of evolving at level 21, like bellsprout, so I will need another rare candy, as well as preferably another leaf stone to get vileplume or a sun stone for bellosom Edited January 9, 2021 by DaPika2

DaPika2
Ok, So for anyone who's confused, I beat Venam by using a strategy I first attempted with gloom. I started by sending out deerling (Oh Dear) which used camoflauge (to make it poison type) then used sand attack 3 times to make venam switch out nidorino, I then used leech seed on the grimer she sent out then attacked it till it killed deerling, of course I couldn't switch out deerling since I had it set to set mode not switch mode XD, so I technically made it harder for myself. I then sent out victreebell then used sleep powder to stall then spammed growth, whenever the grimer woke up I put it back to sleep. I then proceeded to sweep the rest of her team with hidden power, I got really lucky seeing as my victreebells hidden power is fire type (discovered through trial and error) One side note is it wan't a 100% foolproof strategy, I would lose if seviper, (easily venams strongest pokemon) got a crit or a high roll venoshock, seeing as it outsped all of my pokemon. Either way whats done is done and venam is history... for now. Edited January 9, 2021 by DaPika2
DaPika2
Btw I have my game set to "set mode" so I can't switch pokemon after killing an opposing one, I thought about it a bit and its been on set since the beginning so it will probably stay as set, and not switch.
DaPika2
Welp on to the next gym leader, Next up we have Keta (in the amythest grotto), a specialist in dragon/psychic moves. He may seem easy seeing as he does not use pokemon types strong against grass, but his power output and strength completely destroy any chance of an easy victory. We are gonna need a strategy here. DaPika2
Welp Keta is being a pain in the butt, anyone have suggestions on how to beat him? He kills victreebell before I can sleep powder growth sweep him and his pokemon are too tanky to just buff through it. His Ninetails also loves sweeping grass types so yeah, this is gonna take a while. Edited January 11, 2021 by DaPika2
DaPika2
Can someone explain to me why keta is SO ANNOYINGLY DIFFICULT? also pineapples.
