Pokemon Reborn translation project

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I've been wanting to translate Pokemon Reborn to expand its popularity for quite some time now. I've seen, here and there, some posts about it, but nothing official or serious enough. So I thought maybe I can do it.

Let's consider this topic the hub of Reborn translators !

So, if you're interested in this project, or if you are already working on your own Reborn translated version, you can share it here.

If this project takes off, we'll be able to make teams and work better and faster.

So please tell us :

- if you're willing to vounteer ;

- what's your native language, or the translation you want to work on ;

- your availability ;

- if you already started, your level of advancement

- how they translated "today is a gift, thats why we call it the present"  from KFP in your country

As for myself, I'm french and my english, if not outstanding, is good enough to translate Reborn dialogues. I've started to translate the first dialogues of the game in french. I'm available every evening (GMT+1) and on week-ends.

Like all of you, I have a life, so I won't be able to invest myself in this as much as I would like to. But I'll do my best.

Oh also, if there's already a translation topic and i've missed it, feel free to let me know !

As a student of Translation Studies, I always love to see initiatives like these pop up. Sadly, my mother tongue is Dutch and I'd say there is no point in translating a Pokémon game into Dutch, since basically every native Dutch Pokémon aficionado speaks English as well.

I did like to notify everyone that for Spanish people are already working on a translation. If I'm not mistaken @Fernan100tifiko and @Gastronely are involved, so you could direct any questions to them. There's also a group called "Reborn Español" which is related to the translation project, even though it doesn't seem to be used very often.

Edit: if people do decide to set up a translation project for Dutch though, I would love to contribute.

Hello!

As for the french translation, we kind of started something with @fay-clochette a year ago in this topic: French Reborn - Reborn City - Reborn Evolved. But, due to lockdown and the fact that E19 will add a lot of new content, we never really started it. In this topic, there is a link to a well-made mod that will help you in the process.

Feel free to PM us if you want!

I plan to do a polish translation, but I'm waiting for E19. Generally, I think the best approach would be to stay in line with the official translation (e.g. the names, including Pokemon, are never localized) correcting them here and there - look at the screenshot below, that's the list of words used for the ''Tackle'' move, most of them made sense only for the particular scene in the anime. Also, I will definitely need some help with Terra's lines and meme-ish references along the game (some of them didn't age well or are not popular here, so will be replaced with something from ''polish internet'').

If anyone reading this wants to contribute, do not hesitate to contact me, we can start a club or so, so we know we can split up the job.

I recently came back to Reborn and ended up recommending the game to a friend. I then realised he unfortunately doesn't know much English and thought: "Hey! Wouldn't it be cool if the game had a Spanish translation?" I'm Spanish, by the way.

The amount of people who haven't got to know the game due to it being only available in English is astounding. The Spanish community is usually isolated from the others and this sadly is no exception. Most people, even if great fans who might be able to understand mid-level english, haven't heard about Reborn.

With that being said, I would love to work on the Spanish translation.

I am free most evenings but, since I'm a student, there might be periods of time when I'm unavailable.

For doing this, I'm gonna head towards the Spanish translation hub and try to see what's up with it. Hopefully, we'll be able to, at least, get some more stuff done so a future group can take up the project .

EDIT: It might hace been my lack of experience's fault, but I hadn't been able to find anything else related to the Spanish project. Luckily, I was able to contact one of the people who worked on the project and they told me the project is done and that the translation will be coming out soon, so... yeah... I guess that's It...? xD
