Jory
Fun fact: I used to be a Fighting-type gym leader (not Sonny, me) and I ran that in conjunction with a solid Scrafty set. I always think Trick Room when I see Gallade. Also, for reference, this is the team: -Munchlax, lvl 28, Thick Fat -Staravia, lvl 28, Intimidate -Litleo, lvl 25, Unnerve -Girafarig, lvl 35, Inner Focus EDIT: I didn't mean to sound like a dick, but this battle is similar to when Ash battled Drake in the anime. No one questions Ash's ability as a trainer, but he loses because he is inexperienced and has not become as powerful a trainer as Drake, despite the fact that their Pokemon are somewhat similar in terms of power. Extra Edit! I found the Fighting team I was talking about. Pancho (Breloom) (M) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Spore - Focus Punch - Seed Bomb - Facade Saggy (Scrafty) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Moxie EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Drain Punch - Ice Punch - Crunch Punchy (Infernape) (M) @ Flying Gem Trait: Blaze EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Acrobatics - Close Combat - Stone Edge - Flare Blitz Kuwagata (Heracross) (M) @ Wide Lens Trait: Guts EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Close Combat - Earthquake - Stone Edge - Megahorn Terrakion @ Choice Scarf Trait: Justified EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Close Combat - Stone Edge - Earthquake - X-Scissor Esteem (Gallade) (M) @ Expert Belt Trait: Justified EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd) - Trick Room - Close Combat - Stone Edge - Psycho Cut Edited March 16, 2014 by Jory
Chevaleresse
Like I said in the other thread, you implied Aron would survive the attack since you sort of kept attacking after it should have fainted. also Head Smashing Staraptor wouldn't really be an overcommitment, it would make complete sense to hit you with a SE 140 BP move.
Jory
*Staravia And it would be an overcommitment because it's a slow Pokemon leaping into the air in order to attack a Flying-type. And the extra attack was because Aron commonly has Sturdy, which would prevent it from being OHKO'd. To clarify, the Quick Attack was to knock away the theoretical 1HP. Without Sturdy, Aron would be gonzo. Edited March 16, 2014 by Jory
Chevaleresse
Under Trick Room, which turns Staravia's far superior speed into a huge disadvantage. Edited March 16, 2014 by KingMurdoc
Jory
Not when using Quick Attack, which breaks the normal conditions of Trick Room. The way I always imagined Trick Room working was that each Pokemon's Speed stat was multiplied by (-1), which would make slower Pokemon faster. Motion more easily carried out with less force rather than more force. Operating under this logic, Nemea is able to move at a normal pace because she does not change position and Maverick is able to move normally because Quick Attack exempts him from the stat change. Chevaleresse
The Head Smash came before the Overheat, though, and the Quick Attack came after.
Jory
The Quick Attack command was similar in function to a "Dodge" command, which is not to be (and will not be) abused. And by your logic, the Whirlwind should have hit before Trick Room was up. So let's just stick with the order we established, which is that Aron gets hit by Overheat and faints and Staravia takes damage from the Head Smash (but is not KO'd because Intimidate). I get the impression that this would have been simpler had I just stated that Argentia was hit with Overheat...
Chevaleresse
Probably. Though it would make more sense to say Head Smash just plain missed, since there is almost no situation in which Staravia survives Head Smash. (It's sort of like Choice Specced Latios's Draco Meteor. It's a lot weaker the second time around, but still enough to OHKO.) Here's a couple damage calcs. The absolute ideal situation for survival, with Aron's attack as low as it will possibly go: -1 0- Atk Aron Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Staravia: 128-152 (40.7 - 48.4%) -- guaranteed 3HK Something more realistic: -1 252+ Atk Aron Head Smash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Staravia: 414-488 (164.2 - 193.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO Just saiyan. Edited March 16, 2014 by KingMurdoc
Jory
"Just saiyan," Maverick is also 3 levels higher in the 20s which translates to a large percentage stat differential, especially since neither Pokemon should have maxed EVs at this point. It was also a non-full contact hit, which I estimate would take off roughly 40% of Maverick's HP. Current battle status: Maverick- 60%, -1 Atk Nemea- 100%, -1 SAtk Sloth- 100% Harvey- 100% Gallant- 100%, -1 atk Argentia- Fainted Tiberius- 100% ???- 100%
Aqua Severwill
I know, I know this is really late from when this first started, but hey, I joining anyway. Username: AquaWind Character name & gender: Aqua, male, age 16. Partner pokemon(pokemon, level, gender, nickname): Frogadire, 20, male, Bubbles, Protean. Move 1: Water Pulse Move 2: Quick Attack Move 3: Lick Move 4: Smoke Screen Mienfoo, 20, female, Hiyori, Regenerator Move 1: Pound Move 2: Swords Dance Move 3: Detect Move 4 Fake out Rank: Trainee Personality: Anti social, (only with strangers), highly intelligent, hard worker (only when matters), serious when needed, laid back, hides most emotions under a smile, sympathetic, phycopathic when pushed to far (almost a different personality), highly imaginative appearance: Medium wavy dark brown hair, eye colour changes from cyan to emerald green from time to time, normally wears a vest jacket over long sleeved clothing, normally wears a beanie, wears a sapphire necklace (reason answered for in character development if given the chance). Crush: Refuses to want a relationship for a reason. (I don't see why the optional thing is in this part xD) Other: Aqua is the type of person who cares less about himself and is more willing to help others no matter who they are, even if it can hurt himself in the end. He lost many things that were important to him and thus came to the pokecadmeny. He has been living alone with his pokemon on Route 120 (Hoenn) until now Pic: Refer to this for part of appearance. http://tinypic.com/r/10gmcfl/8 Edited March 16, 2014 by AquaWind
Ojama Yellow
Well, I first didn't want to sign up for this one, but after reading a little of the RP (I say a little, I'm far from completely having read it) I changed my mind and decided to sign up...if it's still possible, that is. Username: BibarelCharacter name & gender: Lionel (M)Partner pokemon: Ms. Mime (Mime Jr. lv 20, female, Filter) Tristan (Aipom lv 20, male, Skill Link) Rebel (Scraggy lv 20, female, Intimidate) Rank: TraineePersonality: Lionel has a bit of a shy personality. In bigger groups he will try to be unnoticed, but when he's alone with his friends, he's a lot less shy. Lionel mostly spends his time studying, because he doesn't like to battle. He is intelligent, but doesn't realise that. When he's doing something he likes, he can keep his concentration on it, otherwise it's difficult for him to keep being concentrated.Appearance: For a 16-year old, he's a bit small (1m60). He has short brown hair and brown eyes. Likes wearing jeans and T-shirts, as long as they have no logo.Crush: None. Lionel thinks he's better off without loving someone...and without being loved.Other: In the city Lionel came from, people thought he was going to become a Psychic, and that's why they gave him a Mime Jr. as his first Pokémon. However, Lionel didn't want to and came to the academy hoping to find what he truly wanted to be. Aqua Severwill
Yes new members indeed. Now then, I am sure that this will be interesting indeed. I read up on a few things that have happened so far just to get an idea of what is going on, (I will not know any past events in the story of course, unless told). I have a background story set up for my character that may be shared if asked or push to in this RP. Normally I know what I'm doing when it comes to Pokemon, but clearly I didn't see the fact that Menifoo evolves at level fifty and can be out-sped by most flying, fairy and psychic types. However, just because I love that little thing I will keep it.
grasssnake485
Yey, moar people! You guys can bump your pokemon all up to level 20, since everyone went on ahead of you and its going to be forever until the next "year" rolls around. Aqua Severwill
Will do, and finished. Not much of a change other than the level changes and two moves being replaced while another was just added in. And I guess that means that our characters will not be introduced until the end of chapter two now eh? Edited March 16, 2014 by AquaWind
Absol-lutelty awesome!
Yeah, my second character will be introduced around the end of chapter 2 also I think... Unless Grass thinks I should now.
Aqua Severwill
I'm just going to wait until I am introduced by a teacher/someone of authority as a transfer student or new student, how ever this will play out. As of right now I am not just going to jump right into it like a ninja and random say hi to the people in detention xD
Jory
You could always "investigate sounds of battle emanating from the gymnasium" seeing as it's after class hours and people normally wouldn't be in there. I'm sure Absol-lutely would appreciate having someone to commentate with.

Aqua Severwill
I guess I could also do that, but my character isn't the type who hangs around school after the final bell unless a given reason. I'm more of the kid who sets an alarm on his watch for five seconds before the bell so he can sleep until then or just wait so he can then get out of there as soon as possible. Then again I could just put in that Aqua forgot a a notebook or something of a sort. I will jump in if it can help things move along a bit quicker. Absol-lutelty awesome!
Actually could this be a good time to introduce my second character? He is the suspicious type of person after all and might come to check everything out.
