AveMatic
So I decided a few months ago that nothing would stop me from getting Pokémon X and Y, except one problem: I have no console to play them on. So for the past couple of days I've been looking at 3DS XLs and almost all the used ones I've come across have have not been to my liking. So my question is should I keep hunting for a good, used 3DS XL or get a new 3DS?

Administrators Ikaru Posted October 8, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 8, 2013 personally I really really want one of the special edition 3DS XLs but they're so much and my birthday's not until next month ;_; If you can't find a good used one your only other option would be to get a new one, no? Shanco
I don't know of anything that the 3DS XL does that the 3DS doesn't. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's probably best to get the straight-up 3DS.
The Radiant Aeon
Wow..So very odd. I was just about to get the special edition X/Y 3ds with my sister. Saved up a whole lotta cash for this moment.

I could get a new one, but I wouldn't be able to buy any games for it for atleast a week after I got it. I'm trying to get my system and be able to play with it as well lol. I'm actually considering a 2 DS as well, that way I can get everything I want and still walk away with a little cash in my pocket.

The only real differences with the XL is that it obviously bigger and it gets twice as much initial memory

Not that many games have it, but it was silghty fixed on the XL.
Khayoz
if you can get yours hands on a second-hand XL then that would be the ideal choice.

AveMatic
I think that I've come up with a solution to my situation (though a lot of you won't agree with it). What I'll probably end up doing is getting a 2DS along with Pokémon Y and then buy X like next week or the week after. Its the cheapest and easiest choice because to be honest... I really don't care what I play X and Y on, I just want the full 6th Gen experience. So if I gotta play a 2DS for a few months, then so be it. Who knows, I might love the 2DS and keep it Edited October 9, 2013 by AveMatic
Ice
Maybe this could helphttp://www.ign.com/wikis/nintendo-3ds/3DS_vs._2DS_Model_Comparison_Chartand the one thing a 2DS has over the other two is that the lack of hinge means the lack of it having as hinge break.
