The way shinying works is a mon has a 1/8000 [or so] chance to have a value [lets call it S]. If it doesn't have S, it will have another value [lets call it N]. Anything with S will still be S, and anything with N will still be N, That would mean the game is attempting to generate shiny personality values twice, instead of once, which doesn't sound quite right until you get the shiny charm/use the Masuda method. If you really want shinies, just do a lot of hoard encounters or get good at chain fishing or even PokeRadar chaining. It's a lot easier in XY than it is in any other of the games. In my current cartridge (I just beat Team Flare), I have just one shiny Karp Masuda methoding (and currently on the 900 Charmander egg... [ugh]) while in the stolen one (that had even finished the Looker missions) got roughly 4 WITHOUT trying... RadiantRegalia Posted January 6, 2014 Share Posted January 6, 2014 I haven't caught any shinies yet, but after two weeks of consistent breeding and over 1,500 eggs hatched, I finally got a shiny Honedge. It has 1 attack IV, but other than that it was pretty much perfect. I don't even care that the IV sucks though, I'm just glad I got the bloody thing. Took forever.One of my friends on Twitter gave me a shiny Gulpin as well. I love it lol. Those are all I have so far though. I'm gonna try and get more.
