XY Shinys

I've actually heard that the rate decreased, so I dunno what's going on right now. I've been trying with the Pokeradar. Sadly, you can't use it in super tall grass (shiny honedge plz).

I think you might be right on the decreased rate, but thats probably because of the new ways to "farm" shinies, so to speak. (if you dont know them theres the fishing chain and the horde spamming)

I've heard things like the shiny rate has been decreased to half of what it was in Gen 5, and other people say it's gone back to what it originally was. I'm not really sure what to believe. I think it's safe to say though that if you want a shiny, you should probably try and get the Shiny Charm first and save yourself some time. It took me nearly two weeks and over 1500 eggs to get a shiny Honedge using Masuda Method, and it had 1 attack IV even after all that. No way I'm going shiny hunting again until my National Pokédex is complete.

Anyone interested in a trophy shiny Gyarados (obtained via masuda method), Fully EV trained (252 Atk/252 Spe/4Hp), Jolly and Lv 65. I'm mainly looking for other trophy shinies or another Gyarados/Magikarp.

Define a trophy shiny?

And the shiny rate has doubled in XY, in addition to all the usual methods. Remember, even with shiny charm and Masuada method and the doubles shiny rate, you'd still need to have about 1300+ eggs before you got a decent shiny chance.

UPDATE: about a month ago, I hatched a shiny drilbur and traded it for a 5IV Pokemon. Two weeks after that I hatched a shiny Mawile and traded that for a 5IV Pokemon as well lol. Now you maybe asking yourself "Why the hell are you trading away all these shinies"? Because they weren't perfectly bred for battle. The day I hatch a Competitively viable shiny Pokemon, you best believe its getting trained up :]]]]]]

Actually no, those are commonly named "competitive shinies".

Ahh ok, well it is fairly easy to get confused. I mean if you bred a shiny competitive Pokemon, that in its self sounds like enough of a trophy to me anyway lol

As far as I know, this topic is X/Y shinys, so I think any post about shiny pokemon is relevant. I don't think this topic was made JUST for people to brag about their shiny pokemon

Really? And i thought it was exactly about that :D.

This topic is about shinies caught ingame so yea that post was irrelevant.

  • 3 weeks later...

While breeding my VGC 14 team, my first egg from my Gligar was Shiny, had it's hidden ability (from a male too), was the right nature, and had perfect IVs in everything bar special attack.

HUZZAH!
