Any tips for a newcomer?

Sorry if I break any rules by asking this, probably very basic, question, but I wanted to know. Just downloaded the game and saved after the Prologue & learning about the friendship system from ''mom''. A system like that in a Pokemon game sounds really cool and innovative to me, so I wanted to ask if there were some things a newbie has to know when starting a playthrough! (for reference, if it matters; I have played Reborn before, up until the Circus area after 7 gyms or so?)

i can't think of too many off the top of my head, but an important one imo is to do the help center requests.

most towns have a place called a help center where you can do sidequests for rewards and/or pokemon, and a few of them introduce major characters. don't wait too long to do them though, since you can get locked out of them after a certain amount of time

Catch anything and everything, do not let any Pokemon out of your range just because "It's weak", you never know when that "weak" Pokemon can be useful, back in my first playthrough in v12 I got softlocked in "a place that I couldn't return from" because I couldn't win the gym battle because I did not had any good Pokemons against them and my only way was to reset.. Of course, now in v13 this softlock spot was already fixed but still.. Catch EVERYTHING

Ah and just to prove my point, this gym leader I got stuck on I can now defeat with only 2 Pokemons and one of the is a Maractus, A MARACTUS! A pokemon everyone considers trash because grass-type, no bulk and trash speed but it served me well for that purpose..

Speaking as a player who has only gone through stuff on Casual (Because I'm bad), catch everything you can, and abuse Accuracy lowering moves as much as possible. You can get the TM for Flash from the Casino on Chrysola Hotel's 2nd floor, and some starters can learn moves like Sand Attack through level up. This isn't a competitive game with rulesets that other people impose, so you're not 'breaking the rules' by using stuff like this. Also, like said before, do the Help Quests whenever you can, as some of them will go away permanently and lock you out of certain things.

you can use +blaziken or infernape or cinderace or greninja's or any starter they are good simple woobat which can be available in sewers is very useful for first few gyms

edit :the one name i mentioned are good the starters some mightbe bad some might be good charizard depending on can be dangerous i done an flying mono and it very unexpected ability in certain fields actually u can battle specal terrains called fields depending on field pokemon gets nerfed or boosted with abilities and there movesets if u dont know

For starter, I highly recommand Torchic (so Blaziken) with Speed Boost. It will save you for 80% of the battles with the combo Bulk Up and Speed Boost. Next you should catch a maximum of Pokemon, because sometimes you can't go back to a place and when you have a gym battle where a certain Pokemon is recommanded and you don't have him, where is it available ? In this f*cking place where you can't go anymore. And Finally do all the sidequests and Help Centers, rewards are pretty good !

Mmh let's divide it into points:

1) Depending on the difficulty you chose, you may have to be selective with your starter and the other Pokémon. Nature, abilities and IV can pretty much influence the whole game. As in reborn, each starter may come with its hidden ability, so be sure to check for that. Always keep at hand an ability capsule too ;) 

 

2) Regarding the previous point, training in rejuv is much easier than in reborn. Throughout the game you will gain AP by completing various tasks (walking a certain distance, hatching x eggs etc) ; at the casino you may use the AP to buy EV cards, which let you access rooms with EV enhancing items and trainers dedicated to a certain Stat. Aside from that, in many locations you will find an Audino trainer for the exp. These toolsay help you a lot so try acquainting them asap

 

3) the AP may also be used to buy other items. I recommend buying the HM items, which will let you use HMs even without a Pokémon knowing them, avoiding yourself useless Pokémon in your party or ruined movesets. 

 

4) as the others have said, do the sidequests; speak to everyone, go everywhere, there's a lot of good stuff to be obtained. 

 

5) Train more than 6 Pokémon. As training in this game is much easier you should always keep a variety of mons for rotation, as some battles may require specific strategies and you usual team may not do the job

 

6) Pickup mons are your friends. Especially while training they may help you a lot with money grinding and item spawning. 

 

7) Breeding may also help a lot, since many moves may only obtained like this

 

8) Read carefully at least the main plot. There are many scenes that if you miss you'll have some problems remembering, thus continuing with the plot
