Is this a sequence break? (Narcissa quest)

Okay, so I am doing the West Gearen sidequests in chapter 9 (No Time Left to Lose), and after doing the Generator Problems quest, I followed young Narcissa to Goldenleaf Town, talked to her and then followed her into the Rock Climb area of Phasial Cave. After much cross-checking of Bulbapedia and the Rejuvenation guide for how to change the field to continue, I caught a shadow Vullaby from the den on route 4, purified it, and now have Dark Pulse to change the field as she says. However, the guide doesn't mention any of this until the chapter 14 section. The chapter 9 section just says to complete Generator Problems, and doesn't say anything about following young Narcissa afterwards at this point. Is this supposed to be doable this early, or is it an oversight that you can get Dark Pulse before the train? Does it break anything about the later parts of the quest to start doing this part (as much as I can) now, before going on the train to GDC? I've attached my save.

 

Also please no spoilers for the later chapters after the puppet master (chapter 11), as that is as far as I've played before (I'm playing through from the beginning post-V13).

i think you could complete the whole quest after gym 14

iirc I did an early dark pulse too, but there was very little extra that could actually still be done?
don't remember exactly though, I may be thinking of just checking the other side of the cave before the generator quest.
either way it shouldn't break anything though?

I got in with Night Daze before the train (using the Zorua, if you don't evolve it, then it will learn night daze earlier), and there is very little reason to do so. 

 

It did not break anything later.
