How does the game decide which sprite to use when there a multiple in the same file?

I really like the shiny sprites, and before the beta, I deleted the normal sprites and renamed the shiny ones to to the normal ones before reinstalling without overwriting. Do I have to recolor all the sprites now to get the same effect or can I reinstall the old sprites and do the same thing I did before?

Now that there's a single spritesheet for the various sprites of each mon I believe it looks for specific areas on the images, so your old method won't work, and you'd have to edit each image to recolour / move the sprites around, which isn't very practical.

However, as an alternative idea, if you go into scripts -> reborn -> settings.rb, open it with a text editor and change SHINYPOKEMONCHANCE from 700 to 65535, all wild/player pokemon at least should display as shiny for you. (not sure it'll work with trainer teams that have predefined shininess though)
