Administrators Amethyst Posted November 16, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 16, 2013 so here is deal! This image needs to be dissected so that we have individual icon images for each Pokemon. Each icon image should be titled "iconXXX.png" where the XXX is replaced by the Pokemon's national dex number. If the Pokemon has multiple forms (it looks like we're missing some, will note below) then each subsequent form should be "iconXXX_1.png" ... _2, _3, etc. The first or 'default' form doesn't require any addition- only the second form should be mark with the '_1'. At a normal resolution, icons will be 64x32. These will be doubled for game-use to 128x64. Each individual icon, however, is 32x32. The reason it becomes 64 is because 2 frames are necessary- note how the Pokemon sort of bounce up and down when in your party. We're going to mirror the 32x32 icon in a frame next to itself, making the 64x32. In that mirrored frame, the icon should be shifted down or up one pixel or so. Here's an example: Notice how in the second frame of this image, Stoutland is shifted up about a pixel. That'll make it 'bounce' when it's active. Here's how to do this (again, I'm assuming you're using Graphics Gale): Open the above image in Graphics Gale Choose the selection tool and drag a 32x32 area over the next Pokemon's icon Copy that area Open a new image in Graphics Gale. Make it 64x32 Paste the copied selection from the original image into the new image Select the custom-grid option from the top menu and choose the 32x32 option Select the snap-to-grid option next to that Paste the copied selection into the new image again, and drag into the 32x32 space next to your existing frame. It should snap right into place. Don't click the selection away though! Deselect the snap-to-grid option in the top menu Drag the still-selected second frame up or down one pixel Now de-select that frame (right click) Go to All Frames > Resample > 200%, Keep Aspect Ratio, but uncheck the 'Smooth' option Now choose the blue oval in the tool menu and click on the white background Now, go to Image > Make Alpha Channel > Current Selection; Anti-alias should NOT be checked, but Invert SHOULD be - Click OK File > Save As Title the file as described above: generally, "iconXXX.png" where XXX is the Pokemon's national ID number. Make sure 'Save With Alpha Layer' is checked Because I know that this all seems rather complicated laid out like this, I've made a quick little video showing how to do it. And naturally, since you just saw me do that, there's no need to do Chespin. The other forms we do need to find: Pyroar Female Meowstic Female Offensive Aegislash Flabebe/Floette/Florges in Yellow/White/Blue/Orange When you have all (or as many as you intend to contribute) done, zip up all the files, (7-zip is good if you don't know how to do that) and upload them somewhere (such as Mediafire or another file-hosting service) and post the link here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Flux
All right, I'll get on that and edit this when I'm done.
Administrators Amethyst Posted November 17, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted November 17, 2013 It's fine if you note it for me to take care of when I put everything together Also I should have mentioned- it isn't just eyes, but any white part of the Pokemon But if you want to take care of it yourself, all you have to do is fill in the eyes with a color that's just a couple shades darker than the 100 brightness white. 98/97 brightness on the color palette slider you see on the left in my video. That way it's distinguished from the background
zeilent
I "found" out that the wand tool is pretty good at selecting the white backround ...atleast its working (for now) Have done #651 - #665 Download will do more and upload/ update as soon as possible so we dont do the same icons double. Edit: The 18 diff forms for Vivillon ... should i take the images from Serebii ? or does someone want to make or have better images?
Administrators Amethyst Posted November 17, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted November 17, 2013 fuck vivillon seriously dont even worry about that thing I'll check this out momentarily, thanks! On another note, though, the problem with the wand tool is that it won't grab parts of the background that are disconnected from the rest of it, which happens a lot :c
Deleted User
I don't use this program, but when I use wand tools I usually leave it on a low tolerance and get rid of the bulk of it to start with then zoom in real close and just a tiny eraser too finish it up. It's not too bad.
Administrators Amethyst Posted November 17, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted November 17, 2013 It's not bad, but this is more efficient, because it's poor spriting practice to leave 100 brightness or 0 brightness lines. It messes with alpha channels a lot. I guess I'll go through everything and touch it up myself though later, it's not a big deal. I think the only alt forms we need icons for are Pyroar and Meowstic females And offensive Aegislash and Flabebe family colours

I am checking all my images and i don´t see any problems for now, but! i will keep an close eye on it.

I think the only alt forms we need icons for are Pyroar and Meowstic females The only other thing that comes to mind for me is Aegislash Offensive stance, but I don't know if that really matters because it's usually defense stance by default. You said Vivillion forms can be ignored, I'm assuming the same for Furfrou and the Flabebe family.
Administrators Amethyst Posted November 17, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted November 17, 2013 Aeh, herp. I though Doublade was the offensive Aegislash. Furfrou is whatever- Flabebe-... bleh. Yeah, I guess we should get those.
zeilent
I just saw Gourgeist (same for Pumpkaboo) also comes in different forms (size varies) what do you want us to do about that? It seems like the actual sprite only changes a little so i m not sure if a simple resize is good enough or we should give it proper work? Same for Xerenas 1 Battle 1 out of battle form? seems more important though?
Administrators Amethyst Posted November 17, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted November 17, 2013 Pumpkaboo and Gourgiest sizes pretty much look the same so don't bother with those for icons. Xerneas.... Eeeeeh, just get the out-of-battle icon.
Flux
I've finished 651-696, and I'll upload it to Mediafire tomorrow and post a link. Zeilent will upload the rest when he finishes them.
zeilent
Alright i am done now. We both got #651 - #665 and i got the last part #697-#718 Download Hope everything is as expected. EDIT: Added "Offensive Aegislash #681_1" Added "Pyroar Female #668_1" Added "Meowstic Female #678_1" Added "Flabebe all 4 other colors" icon 669_1-4 Added "Floette all 4 other colors" icon 670_1-4 Added "Florges all 4 other colors" icon 671_1-4 Would like an honest opinion on the added ones because i had to find/rearrange those myself and i d like a quality check.(not the best spriter)
Flux
651-696 Download Here they are. I realize that Zeilent already uploaded 651-665, but I already had them together, and this way 651-696 will be in the same folder.
Administrators Amethyst Posted November 17, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted November 17, 2013 The Flabebe line's forms look great Female Meowstic and Pyroar + Blade Aegislash however, can't be used like that. I appreciate the effort, however, as they are currently, they're arranged in the 128x64 image at a 1x resolution. At that size they need to be at 2x. At 1x they should be fitting into the 64x32 size. After some quick scrounging I also have been unable to find icons for these three forms, so just for now, we'll let it go. However, I'm going to leave this topic open because I'm sure these sprites will eventually become available. It won't be problematic to simply put them in later. The rest of the sprites are A-okay. Thanks guys!
