Bullet
[Sun Sweeper] [Venusaur] (M/F) @ [Life Orb/Leftovers] Trait: [Chlorophyll] EVs: [252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP] [Nature] Modest - Sleep Powder - Solarbeam - Hidden Power Fire -Substitute/Growth [Venusaur got an enormous boost this gen in the form of its Dream World Ability Chlorophyll, which now allows it to take on a role as a sun sweeper. Sleep Powder is where the magic begins, allowing you to incapicitate an opponent and work from there. Substitute is your first set-up move of choice, allowing you to create a guardian force to sponge an attack. The other choice is Growth, which received a phenomenal boost. In sun, it will give you +2 to your Attack AND Special Attack, which is ridiculous if you want to try a mixed sweeper. Fire types wall this set for the most part however, so be careful. Life Orb is generally paired with Growth, and Leftovers with Substitute.]
Maelstrom
And what about synthesis for 2x Trolling abilities?
Bullet
....you don't really have space to give up on your moveslots, and you're a sweeper so recovery isn't as important
Administrators Amethyst Posted January 21, 2012 Administrators Share Posted January 21, 2012 Physical Sleep Sweep Venusaur (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Sleep Powder - Growth - Earthquake - Power Whip Alternate Moves: Seed Bomb, Outrage Designed for use in Drought, Venusaur comes in at double speed and puts the opponent to sleep. Use growth as they switch out for its doubled effect in sun, giving Venusaur 588 attack. From there, sweep away. Power Whip is chosen for STAB and strength, but Seed Bomb can be used if the low accuracy puts you off. Earthquake gets better coverage, but using Outrage instead allows for a stronger attack and also the ability to hit things like Dragonite which Venusaur might otherwise have trouble with. Leftovers is chosen for sustainability and recovery over time if Sleep Powder misses or a sleeping opponent stays put, but Life Orb is viable as well. Administrators Amethyst Posted January 21, 2012 Administrators Share Posted January 21, 2012 ...Why would Power Whip be banned? No matter, good thing we're making sets for Reborn's metagame and not Smogon etc's. If Seeb Bomb wasn't already included in the Alt Moves, I would add it though. Phazer
Venusaur (F) @ Black Sludge Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Growth - SolarBeam - Sleep Powder - Sludge Bomb Use Growth getting +2 to special attack and attack. Sleep Powder first though so that you won't receive damage while powering up. Solarbeam for main STAB damage and Sludge Bomb in case you're up against a fire type. Keep your opponent asleep. Sir Flash™
Venusaur (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Power Whip - Sleep Powder - Leech Seed/earthquake This venusaur is a physical sweeper, built for sun teams. It is highly effective and i have won many battles with it. To start off in sunshine it has 516 speed so off the bat I would use Sleep Powder on my opponent, most likely it will hit. Next this gives you room to use 1 sword dance knowing your opponent will keep it in or switch on you. Boosting your attack a considerable amount you can OHKO you opponent unless type resistance/high defense (will not matter if you get 2 SD off). Now you can pound and groung you opponent with Power Whip. Venusaur can also handle at least 1 hit or 2 so if you can put it to sleep use leech seed to regain health. Earthquake is a substitue move for fire, but why use it when you have Fire pokemon on your team, especially Heatran (Flash Fire) as its ability to support it. Shanco
MixMasta Venusaur Venusaur (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 156 Atk / 100 SAtk / 252 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Growth - Weather Ball / Hidden Power [Fire] - Hidden Power [Ice] / Outrage - Earthquake Venusaur with no STABs sounds somewhat illogical, but its movepool doesn't really provide for an all coverage set while including its STABs, sadly. Inspired by my beloved Salamence's set, here's how my set goes. You'd only choose Hidden Power [Fire] if you're battling outside of Reborn as elsewhere Weather Ball is incompatible with Chlorophyll unless we're talking about Victreebel. Hidden Power [Ice] provides nice coverage, while Outrage hurts a LOT. Earthquake rounds out the coverage and is meant for Pokemon like Heatran. Lum Berry prevents Venusaur from being Spored, Glared, or otherwise hindered before it can attack. Essentially, it can mean a free Growth if you send it out on the right Pokemon (ex. Breloom). Kamina
Fruitdealer (Venusaur) (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 156 Atk / 172 SAtk / 180 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Weather Ball - Earthquake - SolarBeam/Giga Drain - Hidden Power [Ice] Venusaur was already pretty good in the sun in b/w but it lacked coverage a bit because one had to decide whether to go with hidden power fire or ice and picking one would gave Venusaur a weakness to either dragon types or steel types respectively. Now in b2/w2 Venusour can learn weather ball which in the sun is a fire type move and hidden power ice giving it awesome coverage. Earthquake is mainly for Heatran which gives sun teams a lot of problems especially if they are shed shelled and Solarbeam is its most powerful stab move but since solarbeam is only a one turn attack in the sun and life orb takes away health you can also opt to go with giga drain but it reduces the sweeping potential of venasour a lil :P
Guest
Venusaur (F) @ Venusaurite Trait: Overgrow EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 140 SDef / 16 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Giga Drain - Sludge Bomb - Synthesis - Leech Seed Presenting to you - Venusaur. Used outside of Sun. In 6th Gen, with the introduction of mega-evolutions, the game has changed so, so much. Venusaur with the mega evolution now gets Thick Fat, which halves the Ice and Fire type damage, which is a problem for most players who don't carry Psychic types or Psychic moves. Synthesis and Leech Seed provide you with the double heals, and Leech Seed saps the opponent's HP which is always nice. Giga Drain also heals you at the expense of your opponents. Gee, isn't that nice? Sludge Bomb might give you a neat poison to help you in your quest for a victory, however, the EV spreads are fairly... spread? So the Pokemon might not deliver as much damage because it's designed to stall, which it does so very effectively. Bold Nature for extra defensive capabilities, which makes it a hinderance to battlers and possibly a team's savior.
