Are they found in the same quest space? Spoiler If I remember right I turned the game off and on and when "bad end" appeared I pressed A and the dialogue continued eventually. I don't know if the reset was actually necessary, but yeah you DO continue after that. The game is trolling us hard with stuff like this and the mock Darkrai catch lol.
