Administrators Amethyst Posted March 21, 2011 Administrators Share Posted March 21, 2011 Lead Beedrill (M/F) @ Focus Sash Trait: [Ability] EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spe IVs: 0 HP/0 Def/0 SpD Naive Nature - Toxic Spikes - Endeavor - Agility - Baton Pass Unfortunately, the long and short of it is that Beedrill is not a very good Pokemon in any respect whatsoever. It has only a few things going for it, including Toxic Spikes, which earns this Pokemon its placement as a lead. Speed is maxed to allow you the greatest chance of getting both layers up in combination with your focus sash- But even with maxed speed, it's moderate at best. The set is outclassed even in lower tiers as a spiker alone, but Beedrill has one other toy that can help shift the momentum in your team's favor- that being Endeavor, for after you've taken a hit already. In most cases, you may have to sacrifice the second layer of Toxic Spikes for the endeavor- unless you can pull off an Agility before hand and stay safe- allowing you a chance to get all three in depending on your opponents' tactics. Finally, Baton Pass can send that +2 speed boost to something in your party that wants it a bit more. Over all, the support options are decent, but Beedrill remains sadly underwhelming even in NU. There is something about that i love. Other then the fact that is has drills for hands. Brill is best used in lowest of tiers sad as it is But it is good in said lower tiers. This set is best used if a pokemon of you'res is KOed and the foe is weak to bug then send it out. So he/she will have to switch out. Then you can set up. Or catch you're foe off guard with with Drill Run.
Huggyboo
Bedrillin' like a Villain Beedrill (M/F) @ Choice Band/Scarf Trait: Sniper EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP Nature: Jolly/Adamant Pursuit X-Scissor Poison Jab Drill Run Beedrill is cool, a lot cooler than that sissy butterfly that makes your childhood a repressed memory of emotional ruin. Depressive issues aside the poison bee pokemon is one awesome bug. Early game he's not half bad (Brock aside...) hell i still use him in my FR/LG runs even though he isn't nearly as useful as in the broken gen 1 type advantages. Sadly he is a bug, thus a weakness to some very offensive typings and stealth rocks, in my opinion he doesn't really have the set up offensively and he's lucky to get both layers of toxic spikes before he's killed or simply has the spun away, rocks set up, and then not enough HP to set them up on a switch back in. So instead i just suggest the "come in packing" idea. You don't need to set up if you already have the choice boost! Want attack? Make him a jolly hornet of death! Speed your style? Make him an adamant man to hit and run his enemies. With dual stabs with nice enough coverage, drill run to get those crazy crit hax and take on any grounded steel, fire, or rock types, and pursuit to play him on anyone who dares to run from him, i feel this early on pokemon can still hold a dangerous threat to much of the lower tiers.
