NeoDarklight
Okay, I thought it was a scripted battle, but it seems that's not accurate, seeing as I had the normal defeat message after losing, and found myself at a pokemon center. So I guess what I'm asking is- how do I beat it?
Seehan
Lots of threads on this, but if you get lazy and dont want to beat it just side with El. I beat it using quick claw sleep powder jumpluff and close combat infernape
NeoDarklight
I've got a Bright Powder Umbreon with Confuse Ray, a Quick Claw Metagross with Hammer Arm, a Thick Club Marowak with Retaliate, a Miracle Seed Grovyle, a Flame Plate Magmar, and a Quick Claw Gallade. Any changes I should make?
ExplosivePastry
The Gastly that you get comes with curse I believe. Just slap a quick claw on it and watch as the level 75 Arceus dies to a level 15 Gastly mwahahahahah
NeoDarklight
That... Might be a valid tactic. Alternatively, I could use one of my two Spiritombs. Or my Cofagrigus. Or my Dusclops. Or really, just an all-ghost team. In other news, the area you fight the Ditto-Arceus in is an EXCELLENT spot to train Sp. Atk and Atk EVs. Lots of high level Unown. EDIT: The Curse affliction will not work- Parson El has several Full Heals. Edited November 24, 2013 by NeoDarklight
Sapphire
Full Heal doesn't heal curse though...AT least not in the games. Does it in Reborn?
NeoDarklight
My plan- Hypnosis from Spiritomb until El runs out of Full Heals, then Hypnosis once more, then switch to Gastly for Curse. Reality- Hypnosis only has a 66% success rate, unlike its defined rate, making two consecutive Hypnosis attacks difficult enough to achieve, let alone three in a row. Also, Dark Pulse causes flinching way too much.
Seehan
The most reliable method would be sleep powder or spore. You can get foongus at azurine island, and slap either a focus band or quick claw onto it. spam it 3 times then hit it up with some fighting moves. ditto arceus isnt THAT bulky in the face of a STABed close combat or Hi jump kick
NeoDarklight
Do any of the Hitmon trio learn those moves? I've got a Tyrogue from that one scientist on top of the building on the westernmost end of route 1 that I've been itching to level up.

Sapphire
Can't you just focus band/sash a Blaziken, Hi Jump Kick, speed boost, then jump kick again? Edited November 25, 2013 by Secundum
DarkLight
Focus Sash is not in Reborn yet, if memory serves me well. And that can work if Torchic is his starter. If not though, try lowering Ditto-Arceus' accuracy so that it misses it's moves.
Freya
I was lucky and encountered a wynaut while grinding outside the psychic gym. I saw that it had destiny bond, and used that to take down arceus. So if you have a pokemon with destiny bond, that can work quite beautifully. ElykColdster
If you have a high-leveled Crobat it will probably outspeed the Ditto-Arceus. What I did was Confuse Ray 3 times and Cross Poison for the toxic poison to wither it down. After Crobat faints just play defensively if you have to. El won't have a full restore and the most the Arceus can do is either sweep your team before it dies to toxic or recover, but toxic will eventually kill it especially if you can land a few fighting moves on it. ShatteredSkys
I pp stalled with spiritomb until arceus ran out of dark pulse, the arceus has recover, focus blast, judgment(normal), and dark pulse once it ran out of dark pulses I set up to plus 6 and put it to sleep. I did have to use 15 hyper potions but i'm pretty sure moo moo milks can also be used.
Administrators Amethyst Posted November 25, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 25, 2013 How's the difficulty of this in general? I see a lot of people have come up with a variety of unique strategies- which I love; that's what I was going for- but I also acknowledge that making something this strong an optionally must-win opponent is still somewhat risky. I want players to feel that if they side with Radomus they have to put a bit more into it- that maybe El is the easy way out- but I don't want them to feel like siding with El is the only practical option to progress. Where are we?
Khayoz
Garchomp was harder imo.
NeoDarklight
Wait- it was possible to beat Garchomp?! In other news, I DO in fact, have a Wynaught! Almost got a shiny one, too, before I got a crit on accident and KOed it. Didn't check anything on it, though. And I was talking about the fighting moves for the Hitmon trio. IIRC, Hitmonlee CAN learn Hi Jump Kick. It was in Gen I. Can Hitmonchan learn Close Combat, though? Also, I have Grovyle, so obviously Treecko was my starter.
