how to get on computer in Onyx Ward?

I just started playing the game & I got my second badge, I try to get every Pokémon available so I'm looking at the Guide to see if there's anything I'm missing.

Apparently, I should be able to get a Porygon, with the Chip I got at the beginning, which I should connect to the PC in the Trainer Academy.

However, when I talk to the student in front of the computer, he tells me he won't leave, unless I find something better to do for him.

Does anyone know what I should do to get him to move?

He moves when you get access to the underground staircase and get the mining kit I think. And you won't get the mining kit until you get rock smash
