Code: PIRULUK
I am GMT+8 timezone btw. Also, what platform will you be playing on? I have no webcam and mic fyi.
Raindrop Valkyrie
it is over a web browser based site called Roll20. it can be used to put up maps etc...etc..., no mic isn't so much a problem. it is no headset, unless you are willing for Skype/Ventrilo to be blasting through your speakers. If you are really interested in playing I am sure I can work it out. And for King, I thinking around 12 to 3p.m. EST I live in Pennsylvania(it might be a bit later, but I need to talk to my friend if he is willing to stay later any later than that starting time given). I am not sure of your guys timezones, and am not good with timezones in general so you need to help me out a bit with those (I will remember it once we get it worked out.)lol. p.s. first session will definitely not be this Sunday. I need time to get things together lol.
Chevaleresse
Sounds fine to me. I've already got a Roll20 account, so we should be good. My connection should be fixed by the sunday after this one, too.
Raindrop Valkyrie
Alrighty, I will get back to you guys as soon as I can. Don't make a character until I give you the go ahead, if you haven't played 3.5 before I would at least like to one help you through it, and I need to tell you guys my roll method. But I will get to this stuff when I get more of this stuff settled. I require you write a backstory as well, it need not be fancy, I like that you have one for your benefit. Once I run it by my friends I will get you guys the information for our vent server (at first, I am still deciding if I want to use Skype, as I don't have a premium account so I don't have group video call, so it would be like using vent anyway lol.) I will try and get links to the Player's Handbook and character sheets(sadly, in Pdf form) as well for you guys. (I actually have them, I just got to find them). and just a rule of thumb, I will say don't download any Monster manuals or the Dungeon Master's guide, those are resources for me and shouldn't be read by player's, it ruins a bit of the fun if you know all the weaknesses etc of the monsters, and considering your character would not know of the creature's weaknesses anyway (at least the first encounter). I will probably pm you guys stuff from here on, as this vent server is private for friends of mine, and is not owned by me just for your information, so i will ask if you will be considerate to the owner, he isn't playing with us, but he is allowing me to use the server for it lol. (on the vent server my username is Fulmine, but you guys will most likely be using my actual name, I don't feel like divulging it here in the thread though, you guys will learn in due time). Raindrop Valkyrie
It is still in the writing process. I will actually add things players create to my world (if they are not overly ridiculous), but I will see what I can get together for you, my notes are very scattered about as I am not very organized. But here is what I can tell you off the top of my head, The world of Graterras. There are 9 Landmasses or Island's based on one of the Nine Main gods, or as they are collectively called, The Creators. 4 of the creators are known as the Elementalists, They are based off of Fire, Water, Wind/Air, and Earth. They also represent the creation of humans, with Earth and WInd being the Gods of the vessels. Earth created the body and Air created the mind. Fire and Water are known as the Fillers, as they created the things that fill the vessels. Water created Knowledge, and Fire created the soul. Each of these gods has a Nation that is said to be where they were born into the world. (this applies to the rest as well.) The god of Earth and Body, known as Tectanitus (Tech-ta-nite-us), was said to be born from the Shattered Hills, a land of stone and mountains. It is a very inhospitable land, where only the hardy survive. As such is mostly home to Dwarves and Gnomes who eek out what living they can underneath the mountains. A few human towns exist on the North part of the island, mostly fishing and mining villages. No known Elves or Fae folk live in these lands as it is too harsh. The god of Air and Mind, Aerothesis, was said to be born from the snowy peaks of Aurora, a northern tundra, that is known for it's harsh winters and winds. Sailing to the continent is very difficult as the winds are unrelenting to ships. They culture is more similar to those of Vikings and is very tribal in nature. They believe in Hardy warriors and the way of the blade, and don't look kindly upon magic users or thieves, or as they call them, cowards of the night. The god of Fire and Soul, Pythran(Py-thran), was said to be born from Shifting Sands, a sea of a desert, that Shifts almost as much as human emotion. This land is similar to Ancient Egyptian culture. Cities dot the desert in places near water. Here Water is worth as much as gold, some make a living by being what is called a Water Baron. They make money off the use of a water source. Typically towns are built around these water sources and the water Baron becomes the head of the town. Also some places there are traces of old dead civilizations, giant pyramids jut out of the landscape. They are said to hold unimaginable treasures. Along with Deadly traps, and restless undead. The god of Water and Knowledge is said to have been born from the Crystal Archipelgo. A chain of small islands that all claim to be one nation. It is here that Many powerful minds come together, and the research others are afraid to do is done. This land has a culture Similar to Japan and other Eastern countries like China. They look up to the scholars, as they are most important people here. Wizard's are the most at home from this area since they are never critized or harassed in these lands, in fact most of the citizens known a tiny amount of magic(they would never be able to become a full wizard however). Sorcerers are home here as well, their Natural talents are more considered an art-form, as opposed to wizard's scientific approach. (sorry about the long post, but I figured I would post some of the background for all of you guys lol.) This is just a small glimpse into what is going on with my world. There are actually 5 more major gods and 5 more continents that I haven't gone over yet. Edited November 30, 2013 by Hukuna
Raindrop Valkyrie
I will ask that all backstories are submitted to me via pm, or via Facebook. I will be sending you guys the information for the Ventrilo server via a pm as well as my facebook and some other things tomorrow. There is a Facebook group I am using to roll out updates which you will be added to once I get you my info etc.... There is only one rule when it comes to the vent server. You may not give anyone the vent Info with out letting me, or Jon (he owns the server) know about in advance. He is allowing me to use his vent server for this so I ask that you guys respect his wishes and show him courtesy.
Code: PIRULUK
A few Questions: Where do Elves and Drows hail from? What's the level of racial tension? In which countries are slavery legal? Which countries are monarchies, democracies, etc? What classes can we choose from?
Raindrop Valkyrie
1. Most kinds of Elves come from the lands that are ruled by the goddess of Light, and the God of Life. High elves and Grey Elves hail from the lands of the Light also Known as Solarium (this was also the name of the fallen capital, but that is a different tale for later), And Wood elves hail form the Lands of Life also known as Arbouretium. Drows actually hail from the Shattered Hills, as they are subterranean race. However, they are not well liked by most of the denizens of the world, as most are particularly evil and not pleasant to deal with. Drows are also more commonly known as Dark Elves. 2. Racial Tension is high between Elves( of all kinds) and Dwarves, they are bitter from an old war, where the Dwarves decided to hide within their mountain instead of help the Elves. Also in Arbouretium Wood elves are treated like scum by the humans that have moved in and claimed the area as thier "own". Halfings (I call them Hobbits) are well received by all races, and are typically easy-going. Gnomes are typically seen as annoying, but there is no actual bad blood with them and any other race. Drow Elves as said above are treated poorly by most, Males even are hated by their own race. Wood Elves see as elves as much too Frivolous, and fool-hardy much like Dwarves, but it is not in ill-will unlike Dwarves. Grey Elves Think they are better than other elves and are typically pretty snotty and stand offish with other elves. 3. Slavery is Legal in a few lands. It is most common in the Shrouded Isle, the land where it is believed the God of Darkness and Narcissism, Draven (I swear I am came up with that before League did lol.) was born into the world. It is also legal in the Land of Death, the place where the god Mortimer came into being. The last place it is legal in is the Crystal Archipelago, it is very uncommon here, but some Wizard's's will use them to keep their labs tidy, most don't trust others in their laboratories so it is a very rare occurrence. It was abolished in all other lands. 4.Races typicially have their own ruling systems, it will be the Humans that have the specific governments, I will first do all the races typical rulership, and do Humans last Dwarves tend to run their Kingdom via a rigid caste system. Their is the Noble or ruling class at the top, with the Warriors and Smiths at the second level. The third Level is the merchant and clergy class. 4th is the Stone Masons and the builders. 5th is the Ram Breeders and Miners. And lastly the 6th is the casteless. Elves(all except for Drow) have a limited monarchy. They typically have a king who is backed by a council of Village elders. Smaller villages have a Chief who reports to the King of their race, if they are in a similar area. Typically Elves that live in human cities follow their ruling system. Hobbits will typically have a council of village elders. Hobbits being a easygoing race have a very relaxed government, not much of how it works is known, because simply it rarely ever is needed or is used. The Elders all know how it works however, and pass it down to new members of the council. They never share it with outsiders. Gnomes have a democracy, and are typically led by a Grand Master. Gnome politics are pretty non-existant though, as they prefer to tinker and invent rather than worry about others problems. All Gnomes vote on policies to be adopted by the city. The Grand Master devises bills and laws to be voted on by the people. He is also in charge of the Militarized forces. Arbouretuim is a Monarchy, ruled by a king. The King lives in the capital of New Lunddor. Smaller villages are run by Barons, Lords and others the King himself has granted lands to. The Human Kingdom in Solaruim is run much the same, however it is more recently gotten off it's feet. They also respect the Elves that still live there, and attempt to get their opinions before going ahead with their own. The Crystal Archipelago is a complete and pure democracy, where every city has completely different laws based on what their population wants. Shifting Sands is mostly built up of City States. Each Water Baron runs the city around their Oasis/river/well much differently. The Shrouded Isle is ruled by an oligarchy, a group known as the Shrouded Ones. No one knows who they are, or how they are selected. They rule from the Capital city of Nevermore. They all rule as one, typically each taking a specific area of the Isle. The small numbers of humans that live in Shattered hills are ruled by Local appointed Lords. The land of Death has 0 government, it is mostly a dumping ground of Criminals and Lepers. It only law is Survival of the fittest. The mainland, Or Pandora, is ruled by Limited Monarchy, the King is backed up by a board of advisers, that typically keep him in check. 5. Any class that isn't a prestige class is acceptable. So far without anybody I got from here, the Party is currently at the time of posting, comprised of a Priest of Lumabella, the goddess of Light, a Bard, and a Ranger. that doesn't mean you can't play any of those classes, all it means is that stacking them maybe not the best for group diversity. rustytengo
looking at the dwarfs government system someone played Dragon Age and perstige classes are advanced classes that you can gain after meeting certain requirements any way time for my slightly more complicated questions 1 what are the cultures for the more evil races like (orcs, goblins, hobgoblins and the such and what are the tensions they have with other races (or is it the usually dwarfs hate orcs and the like) and where do they live mostly. 2 how are half breeds treated 3 wizards have familiars right if so what can they be
Raindrop Valkyrie
1.Evil races are typically scattered amongst the Continents,, their culture is very barbaric in nature, and most are wanderers. I am not going to reveal to much about them since I play things a bit different then some dms would when it comes to my eviler races. As they are eviler races they are rarely tolerated by any race, but are extremely hated by Dwarves (mostly Orcs and Goblins). Kobolds(little things related to goblins, they are reptilian in nature, believed to be bastardized dragons) are not taken seriously at all, they are tiny at looked down upon by adventurers. 2. Half Breed as in most D and D worlds, are treated pretty badly. Well they are not hated by either of the races they are, they are not loved by either. They are typically not well received in society and usually live amongst the poor and the scum of society, because they are forced to. In the More Southern Islands, like the Shrouded Isle where slavery is legal, they are highly desirable as slaves. Half Orcs and Half Ogres are used for their tremendous strength compared to Elvish Slaves. Half-Elves can typically pretend to be an Elf of their heritage (Dark,Grey, High etc.), if they opt to not grow Facial Hair as theirs typically grows to full length like that of a human. Other Half-Breeds are very, very rare, but it could be possible. 3. Familiars can be any non-magical animal (and some more magical ones, but they must be earned /found naturally during an adventure and must choose to be a familiar, this is a highly rare occurance, don't ever expect of it to happen.) there a few common examples in the Player's Handbook (will be getting that to guys when possible). Those aren't the only ones, but remember I will need to figure out a special bonus for it (not a problem, just know I won't have it immediately)

Raindrop Valkyrie
No, that would be a separate pm you send to me either here, or can send me on Facebook. This group message is for me to send you guys the Ventrilo server information, the share link for the campaign in roll20, and my Facebook info. I prefer that the Backstories are separate from the information so I can easily find them (I like too have them to try and integrate them a bit into the story, and for reference on your character.) Raindrop Valkyrie
I have to see if you can join up, I don't want over 6 players right now, as the group dynamic starts to go out of wack. If all of the people I have invited don't fall through I will let you know, but as of now if anybody decides to play, I am full up. . Also I recommend staying away from wiki searches on D and D, a lot are full of homebrew content. Any results of wiki searches I need to be linked to for reference and to check if it homebrew stuff. (I don't like homebrew stuff, it is very unrelible, and rarely is balanced correctly.)
