Question about Taka's becoming for each route in Episode 18 (spoil)

Hi everyone,

I am actually doing episode 18 because I wanted to know everything the game has to offer before starting episode 19 (so please no spoil about episode 19!). Episode 18 so far is amazing.

Before starting episode 19, I wanted to fully undertand the difference between each route:

-during my first playthrough, I accepted to battle Taka (and entered zekrom route I think?), I saw him again at Agate City while he was chased by Sirius, we don't know what happen afterward.

-Second playthrough, I refused to battle him and let him follow me on the desert, he followed me in the castle after sleeping in the train to warn me Lin followed him, he got later killed by Titania in the castle and Amaria enter in yandere mode (Reshiram route I think?).

-My third playthrough is the one that made the less sense for me and I would like someone to explain what happened: I took an old save and this time refused to let him follow me, he left alone in the desert, when I saw Lin in the castle, I took the left door (zekrom route I think?), I never saw him in the castle, Titania didn't kill him, Amaria didn't turn into a yandere. Once I got into Agate city, I expected to see Taka there being chased by Sirius like in my first playthrough, but he was not there at all, and Sirius assumed he was dead and that I know what happened to him even though the last time I saw him was when I battled him in the desert, what does this mean? Did I miss his death somewhere?

Hi Kirashi,

I tried the same actions out of curiosity and wound up with the same result: Taka never showing up anywhere and Sirius referencing his death like on Reshiram. Since he uses the exact same dialogue, I'd say it's a bug...? After all, if we never saw Taka die, why would Sirius say we saw his last moments?

But that's just a guess.

I tried again those routes to confirm something. We actally if the bug is the supposed death or the repetition of the dialogue. In zekrom route, Taka never appear in the dark hole to tell the player to not forget him, seems like it's something he'd say only when he is dead. I confirmed he appears in reshiram route and Zekrom route when you refuse to let him follow you, which confirm his death in this route even if you can't see it. My guess would be:

- the staff never implemented his death (the dialogue wouldn't be a bug then)

- the dialogue is indeed a bug and another one confirming his death was supposed to appear

I am really surprised that during the whole years the game was out no one ever saw that (this matter was never dicussed on the forum as far as my search goes) and when I discussed this matter on discord, the only few people that answered either trolled me or answered nonsense...

Thanks for checking so thoroughly!

That's indeed puzzling...

Hmm... it may be something that happened during the upgrade from E18 to E19. If I remember correctly, refusing Taka in the desert lead to a regular Zekrom route in E18, so I just assumed it would be the same in E19, but obviously, that's not the case.

Hmm... I mean, it would make sense that refusing Taka in the desert would lead to his death as well. After all, he can't really go back at this point anymore. So maybe this dialogue really was never implemented... (though the dev team has been so thorough so far that I find it unlikely).

Sucks that people trolled you!

It is not a bug. Refusing to let Taka go with you will lead to Taka's offscreen death.

Really? But then Sirius' dialogue doesn't make sense anymore... after all, we were not privy to Taka's last moments. We were just the last person to see him.

I think that one is described as the worst route for Taka: he dies offscreen and (post-game content possibilities under the spoiler ahead)

Spoiler

has no chance to be brought back.

Reddit has a thread describing in details all possible splits, massive spoilers inside obviously. Anyway, after reading that thread, I can safely assume that in the whole web of variations, that one dialogue might have been missed: it fits what happened, but we aren't notified about it before.
