(Houndour and sneasel's smiles faded as they chased after jake to emerald's classroom to talk about the homework issue)

"Excuse me, emerald I can't do my homework because I was on trash duty remember? How will I do it if I don't know how to?"

(Houndour and sneasel concluded they would have to listen to emerald talking to jake about something and their dreams of epic battles quickly died as they waited for the moment they could go with jake to the forest)

Sarcus sauntered up to where the two were talking. "You called?" he said with a smirk. He glanced at Jake, eyes narrowing as he did so. He simply glared at him for a moment, then continued. "Shall we? I need to train this guy up, and maybe find someone else to round out my team. I'll send you a message if I find a Dratini and you're not around." Trying to overcome his frustration with the other boy, he turned back to Jake. "Are you looking for anyone? You look like the type to go for a Larvitar, or maybe a Deino?" As he spoke, he strained mentally, trying to get a little "practice" at reading minds. The teacher had shuffled around it as she explained how to create a two-way link, but hidden in those instructions was another kind of one-way path for information. Simple, really. "Personally, if I don't find any new friends out there, I'll be fine. Gimme a shout if you find a Beldum, though." He finished his statement, hoping Jake couldn't somehow sense Sarcus's inelegant touch on his mind.

"Didnt I tell you that you have to get the info from someone else?"Emerald replied.

"Shall we? I need to train this guy up, and maybe find someone else to round out my team. I'll send you a message if I find a Dratini and you're not around."

"Sure." Grace pointed her finger at Jake. "This guy wanted to tag along, and apparently he doesnt know how to do his homework. 100% his fault he wasnt listening." Grace shrugged. According to the map, there was a river along the south border of the forest where trainees were allowed, she was going to try there since Dratini were water pokemon. (i dont mean type, i mean habitat)

(Completely ignores emerald while watching sarcus walk away with grace to go to the forest) "Well emerald I'm sorry but I'll just have to read up on that in the text book cya!"

(Jake caught up with sarcus and grace again as they went down the hall)

"So sarcus, I'll warn you about everything but beldums gotcha! *snickers*'

And yeah you're right I think today I'll be after a deino... They seem like fun! And for another pokemon if I do see one... I'd like something else cool too! But I don't know what... Anyways we should get moving if we wanna see any pokemon!

"Well, so far, you've got a team full of offensive Dark-types. Assuming you find a Deino, anyway. If you wanted another Dark-type, and we were basing this on effectiveness alone, I would say you would want a Larvitar, or maybe Vullaby. They would give you an edge defensively, and Vullaby's Flying typing would cover your critical weaknesses. I don't think battle effectiveness is the best thing to base your team on, though. "

"No thanks on a vullaby! I think a deino is just perfect! But then something other than that? I think we'll find more things later! Anyways we should probably get moving sometime. If it's to late to get pokemon then we'll have to wait until tomorrow or even the day after that! And believe me that's the least amount I want to wait. Let's go quick!" (Sneasel and houndour were all ready to go too, their excitement to fight and maybe make new friends had returned as jake sarcus and grace walked down the hall)

((Let's continue when grace gets back later))

"You know, as of right now, I can defeat you in five minutes with one pokemon. And relax, we're allowed out until midnight. I would suggest a Skarmory, they can take out pretty much all of your current weaknesses."

She led the group into the forest and handed out the map. "We trainees arent allowed too deep into the forest; theres a visible border set by Emerald that we cant cross. But that's a good thing. Most of the pokemon here are at easier levels, the deeper you go into the forest, the stronger the pokemon. Theres also less diversity once you reach outside the borders, Alina said that she and a couple of others made the bordered off land a pokemon haven like it was before, and there's literally every pokemon there."

(Sneasel and Houndour were stricken with anger) "You're saying you could beat me right now?

Think you're pretty slick huh? No, I'll calm down it's not a time to battle... I need to search for some pokemon so I think I'll go on ahead thank you..."

As Jake walked ahead a few steps into the bushes he heard a very large ruckus coming from them sounding like something hitting its head on something. Jake hoped it was a Deino, since they we're known to hit their heads on things due to lack of sight. When Jake looked up it was a small Timbur hitting a tree. Jake ignored it and continued. He then saw a bunch of Scraggy run past and a couple of Zorua chasing then away.As he went along he heard something hitting a tree this time when jake checked it was a Riolu! Jake walked up to it slowly. the Riolu stared at him and jake stared back for a few minutes neither of them choosing to move, eventually the Riolu took its harsh look off Jake since it noticed his aura of good intentions. It merely gave jake a smirk and when it saw Sneasel and Houndour they began communicating. Eventually Riolu laughed and the three began playing. "What is Sneasel a comedian or something now? Oh well if you can't beat them, join them."

The Riolu then stopped playing for a moment to look at Jake and check his aura again for any evil. It saw a trace but it was mostly covered by good. This was to Riolu's standards apparently because it began to walk with him as he went on. When they reached the next couple of trees jake listened in for something and just then he heard, loud crashing noises and yelling.

Just then under his feet ran a raging black creature that went and crashed into a tree. Riolu entered a battle stance and prepared. The raging creature ran around and appeared quite confused. Jake rubbed its head and calmed Riolu. The small creature bit at jake's hand. Sneasel and Houndour talked to the creature and Riolu came in at the end to say something. The small raging creature was calmed and it walked towards jake slowly guided by smell. It walked past jake and hit a tree causing it to once again rage and it began to spew blue flames everywhere "dragon rage! RUN!!!!!" The small creature ran after the sound And began bashing and crashing all near the sound trying to find jake and hit him. Once again jake's pokemon were able to calm the bitty beast and this time jake led the small creature towards him. The creature sniffed him and then jumped on him happily it bellowed the word "Deino" meaning jake found what else he was looking for.

When he returned with his two new friends grace and sarcus were nowhere to be seen. "I guess they've gone looking too... I guess I'll just wait for them here..." Suddenly the deino ran off towards something and left jake behind, jake stunned by his friend running away had left him rather speechless. He sat there deino-less waiting for his friends

Grace promptly ran off in the direction of the river. She knew that there were supposed to be lots of water pokemon there, and hopefully a dratini would be there too. Upon reaching it, she noticed two things: One, it was much larger than it appeared to be on the map, or maybe it was because of her exceptional speed? Two, Alina was standing on the bank, playing with a--Dratini!

"Oh hey Grace, I found a Dratini for you. I heard you wanted one." Alina winked.

Grace suddenly had a disturbing thought. This coming from the master of psychic magic, and she told Sarcus about the dratini through a note. What were the chances?

"This dratini... is a little special. It has a hidden ability, Marvel Scale. It wants someone strong to take it on, and unfortunately I dont have time or room for another pokemon. Well, it wants you to battle it. Defeat her and she's yours!

"Grace! Sarcus! Where can they be now?"

Jake looked down and then saw shoe marks in the ground. They were going out into the woods.

"Oh my gosh! Was Grace or Sarcus chased off by something!? Wait... It must've been that raging Deino! Maybe it had something to do with this!"

Jake followed the prints as fast as possible, jumping over various branches and plants. Eventually a weedle even tried to sting him as he ran.

"Grace! Sarcus! Where are you!?"

Jake continued to run after the prints until he got to tired. He heard a loud noise, like crashing. Maybe he was near a water source.

"Grace? Sarcus? Crazed Deino?"

Jake continued to walk until he heard something being spoken. Jake got down into the bushes low and slowly crawled out into the area staying inside the bushes. He looked around as he crawled out and poked his head out of the bush, shortly followed by his pokemon. As he looked around he saw a beautiful sight. A waterfall crashed down onto a small river with shining droplets. Jake crawled out a bit more and heard two voices chatting causing him to retreat into the bushes. Jake, terrified not knowing who was out there divised a plan.

"Alright, go Houndour and Riolu. Keep from their sights. When you see them either give me a Thumbs if up they're no threat or and thumbs down which means they're a threat. Sneasel, climb up that tree. I'll give you one of two signals. thumbs up means don't fire your Ice Beam. But if I give a thumbs down then that means freeze them solid so we can investigate.

Jakes pokemon followed the plan and Jake awaited his pokemon's signal.

Sarcus wandered about the forest. He hadn't seen Jake or Grace for a while, but he didn't really care. He needed a little time alone in the forest after today's events. He aimlessly moved about the widely spaced, verdant trees, avoiding the occasional tangle of bushes or vines. The woods were fairly quiet around here, though he heard some sort of a commotion off in the distance at one point. Abruptly, the noise level started increasing. He wondered what it was all about. The noise of Pidgey and Starly had died out - the normal source of ambient noise in the forest - but there was a sort of low, almost mechanical humming. The trees thinned out as he continued his motion, this time closer to the source of the noise. What he saw startled him.

The forest gave way to a rocky clearing, but that wasn't the interesting part. There were about a dozen small, blue creatures that Sarcus recognized immediately. "Beldum!" he exclaimed. Immediately, the buzzing stopped. All of the Beldum swivelled around, facing straight at him. He took a cautious step forward, his Pokemon following suit. The Beldum seemed to glance at him, his Pokemon, and back to him again. Without warning, all of them immediately turned around and flew off in perfect unison. "Damn it." The Dark-types must have spooked them. Glancing about, a bit frustrated, he eventually noticed something.

One of the Beldum hadn't darted away, and instead simply floated in place, motionless. It stared at him with an unblinking eye. "Hey, buddy," he cooed. "What's up?" The Beldum looked at him for a moment, then turned about and began to follow the rest of the swarm. "No no no, wait, wait!" Sarcus cried out at it. "Where are you going?" The Beldum looked at him for a bit (again), then rolled itself a bit in the direction of its swarm. "What, am I not interesting enough?" The Beldum, after righting itself, decreased it's altitude slightly, then rose up again. It's like this thing is answering my questions. The Beldum flew toward its swarm, almost immediately after he finished his thought. "Damn it, come back!" The Beldum stopped in midair, turning back to Sarcus. "What do you want from me, anyway?" He was distracted from saying more as Gallant tugged at his sleeve. "Can you wait a minute?" He tried to turn back to the Beldum, half expecting it to be gone, but the Ralts continued to yank on his sleeve. "What?" he huffed irritably. Gallant gestured at his own head, and Sarcus felt a small amount of pressure, different from Absolution's, on his mind. Hold on, he thought. Beldum is a Steel-Psychic type. That means it would probably- The thought was left unfinished as he heard an almost annoyed humming from the Beldum, as it turned to fly away once again. Wait, he thought, directing the thoughts outward toward the Beldum. What's your issue, anyway? You stayed around, but seem to be looking for any excuse to run away.

Respect. Sarcus jumped slightly. "What?" he asked out loud.

Respect, the floating Pokemon repeated mentally. Not a thing. Not an "it." Xe. Sarcus took a moment.

"I see," Sarcus replied. He had always said Pokemon were intelligent creatures, but he had always thought it was a different kind of intelligence.

The same. The Beldum started to float away.

Sarcus wasn't about to let xem- Xem? - do that. Wait, please. I would be greatly honored if you would join my team. I think you would be a valuable member.

Yes.

What would you want me to call you?

You may simply call me Beldum, for now. My true name is not one that you could convey.

Sarcus departed the clearing, party now four strong. He headed back into a more densely populated section of the forest, to train his newfound team members.

((Are we allowed to train against wild Pokemon? If so, do we have to RP every battle? It'll be a huge pain to get Pokemon raised to any significant level if so. If I can train, and don't need to RP each battle, Sarcus leveled up each party member by one, and Blues got one more.))

"So you want to battle huh Dratini?" Grace called her honedge forward and replied, "Then lets go!"

Alina stepped forward. "I will be taking the spot as Dratini's temporary trainer for now. Dratini, start off with thunder wave!"

"Guardian, are you ok? Use Aerial Ace"

After a couple minutes of furious exchanges of attacks, Guardian the Honedge's superior defenses allowed him to pull out as the winner. Grace walked over to the collapsed dratini and offered it a sitrus berry. It nuzzled her hand. "So you want to come with me, huh? Can I call you Angel?" The dratini nodded happily. "Well, its settled then, Angel. Welcome to my team!" The dratini slithered up her arm as she stood up.

Jake awaited the signal of Riolu and Houndour but then he heard yelling and pokemon cries. He snuck out of the grass slowly to see the people fighting. It was Grace and another person Jake recognized... It was his teacher Alina!

"Sneasel down! Riolu and Houndour lets check this out! It looks like Alina and Grace are battling!"

Jake approached the battle and then walked up to Grace tapping her on the back lightly trying to get her attention.

((You've seen Alina before. She's your teacher.))

Sarcus, hearing the commotion, made his way back to Grace, moving at a measured pace. He breathed the forest air deeply, smelling the scents the woods had to offer. The crumbling leaf litter, the verdant trees, the. . . that was a less than pleasant smell. Sarcus moved on, until he came upon Grace and Alina, a bedraggled-looking Dratini between them. Jake was there, too, with his Pokemon looking riled up as usual. He noticed the Riolu following him about, and briefly wondered why it had decided to follow him. "Hey, Grace. That's not the best way to go about making new friends," he said jokingly. He saw her feed the Dratini a berry, but he also knew what the scene looked like without that bit of information.

"😰 a roselia you say?... Well I found this guy!"

The small Riolu walked out from behind Jake, while Jake appeared to be slipping away in fear. The Riou stood proudly in front of Grace. As Jake ran into sarcus as he tried to slip away he tried to walk around him as quickly as possible.

"Hey... Riolu... Lets uhhh Hehehehehe... Go?"

Jake sat against a tree in fear and seemed to be shaking.

"I think xe can answer your first question for xemself." The Beldum floated forward obediently, and performed what appeared to be a nod. "To answer the second question: No, I don't recall seeing any Roselia. We could probably find a Budew somewhere without too much difficulty, though." Reluctantly, he turned to Jake. Part of him didn't want to help the younger Trainer, but another part said that Jake was a person too; a person who seemed to be dealing with some personal issues. Sarcus sighed. "Are you looking for anything? You mentioned Deino earlier. They're pretty rare, but we might be able to hunt one out." Sarcus noticed Jake's sudden fear. "What's wrong?"

"Hehehehehe well Sarcus I saw a Deino earlier but in ran off... But now... Yeah lets go find it... PLEASE GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!!"

Jake ran off towards the woods as fast as he possibly could and his pokemon chased after him.

Jake continued to run until a small creature was heard in a bush. Jake turned towards it and his fear disappeared.

"Deino! There you are!"

The small creature came out of the bushes and wagged its tail walking around him smelling his familiar scent from their earlier meeting.

"At least you're here Deino... I just need to get out of here!"

The deino sat in front of him confused by why he wasn't as calm as usual, Riolu's aura sense noticed it too.

Sarcus jumped as Jake abruptly turned and bolted. He sprinted after the kid, dodging the occasional low-hanging branch or irate Spearow, and nearly slammed into Jake when he stopped as suddenly as he started. Panting, he turned to face the Pokemon that had emerged from the bush. He didn't recognize it, so he dug around in his pockets until he located his Pokedex. He pulled it out, and recorded Deino's data. "What the hell was that all about?" Sarcus asked irritably, still out of breath.

"Well then, lets get out of here before it gets dark. My typical overprotective mom doesnt like me out after dark. She's always like 'There are murderers, rapists, kidnappers and thieves out there after dark,'" Grace said in a sarcastic voice. "Well then Im like, 'I think they would be dead Emerald found out about that.' Plus, Im nearly 18, and I think I know better than to get kidnapped or raped." Grace muttered as she walked.

"Sarcus I need to have a word with you for a moment, please listen... Come on deino lets go."

The small dragon followed Jake's lead by scents and waited until Jake stopped.

"Sarcus... I am uhhhh........ You know what lets discuss this later... When Alina isn't walking after me with that... Roselia... of her's ok?"

((Grace doesnt have a roselia?))

Alina jumped out of a nearby tree, dragging Grace. "Phew, what are you guys doing?" asked Grace. "Running from an unseen horror?"

"Im pretty sure its because that kid's scared of poison types." explained Alina, her eyes closed, and obviously racking through Jake's mind to gather more info on the situation.

"I dont have a roselia. I just asked if you found one." Grace told the boys. "Come on, its nearly dark, I dont want my annoying mom to get mad at me again."

Upon hearing Roselia Jake had a mental meltdown...

"ROSELIA!???!???? WHERE IS IT! NO NO NO NOT THE THORNS!!! THEY'RE SO LONG AND POINTY AND SHARP AND THEY HURT SO BAD!!! I'm fine with a poison type, I love them! JUST KEEP THE DEMONIC THORNS AWAY!!!!"

Sarcus almost choked. Though Jake's meltdown was concerning on a number of levels, it was also, quite frankly, hilarious. He felt a smack on the back of his head, and turned about to see a Gallant trying to put on a stern face. Once he had his laughter safely locked away, he turned to Grace. "You head back. I'll hang out here for a while. The night air is refreshing, and Beldum and I need a little time to bond." The Beldum rolled its eye. "What?"
