Flux
Could I potentially retcon my character to have a longbow? Our party seems to lack any real form of ranged combatant other than mages and a longbow seems like it would be far more useful due to its higher penetrating power. I also just think it would be really cool I suppose that would be fine since we just started. Will he be more range-focused then? I'm not really sure how to RP my character properly; let me know if he looks too intelligent. (He is intelligent, but shouldn't always appear particularly so.) Seems fine so far. It's your character, so it's up to you how he acts, but I'll try to let you know if you want.

(He is intelligent, but shouldn't always appear particularly so.) If it makes you feel better I don't really know what I'm doing either. I feel like my character is too anti social and un-trusting, but I tried to make her reactions fit with the descriptions in the OP...and on top of it all I've never role-played before so I have no idea if I'm doing it right or not. I don't really think there's a "right" way to RP. I do think good English is important though :S Also, your character is an elf. So is mine. Raindrop Valkyrie
lol, right out of the gate Acquie huh? and yes there is no right way to rp, it isn't a science, it is an art. You paint the character in a manner of speaking. Personality, and a lot of other things that make up your character are all things that add colour to the overall painting or character. How you choose to do it is how the character is portrayed, however do not worry about having a set in stone character either, they grow and change just like us, how they see the world, and how other may perceive them will change, don't worry about being "right" or having a "Perfect" roleplay. Those things simply do not exist. (Slightly pretentious rant up above, read at own risk, some of it is a bit corny.....I tend to get like that when I have an idea lol) Edited January 1, 2014 by Hukuna

Flux
Important Question: which gods exist in Aervana? Well, it depends on the race. I'll list the main ones here. Humans Aer - The most commonly worshiped god. Believed to be the creator of Aervana and its watcher. Cre - The god of balance. Keeps the flow of good and evil equal to keep the world safe from chaos. Nox - God of the Underworld. The keepers of souls after death. Only those faithful to Aer escape his punishment. Elves Yathdiriel - The god of nature and harmony. Umbyen - The goddess of the seas and time. Cintiel - The goddess of the skies, Drauthier - The god of death and chaos. Vanda Veda - The first of the great Vanda swordsman revered as a battle god. The Vanda believe he will give them strength through prayer. Other than that, they look to their ancestors for strength. Shantii Bruuta - God of war and battle. Shandra - Goddess of the home. Female Shantii pray to her to keep their husbands safe in battle. Dok None Edited January 1, 2014 by Flux

subkoopa
She stole a quick glance at the other elf in the party: he was staring straight ahead, not saying anything, scarcely even blinking. this made me laugh because all i could picture was an AFK character in a MMO also sorry to busy to post last few days
Flux
First, I'd like to apologize for not posting. I've been with friends for most of this weekend and never got around to updating. Now, I should be caught up. Group one is ready to go, and I'm working on group 2 as I post this. "More to the point, aren't we spending a bit too much time talking here? We're in the middle of the street and people are looking at us funny. We should probably quicken our pace...unless we're waiting for someone?" Actually, it was pretty late, so people probably wouldn't be in the streets. I think I said that in the opening post. If not, sorry. Either way, it's no big deal. The story goes on. Also, I realize locations are probably confusing right now. I'm going to get started on a map, but it won't be anything fancy. Hopefully it'll help. For now, just ask if you need to know anything. I'm also going to go into more detail about capital cities and kings and such. Raindrop Valkyrie
a rough outline of a map is all you really need, that we we at least know where things are spacially. Like what is in the North other directions etc....... so don't worry about a hella detailed map, hell I rarely do it in my D and D campaigns until my players flesh out the world a bit (it is a bit different, but I allow a bit of input from players when it come to that, however that doesn't really work for this format as well.) Flux
Sorry for being away for so long again. I was waiting for others to post, but things should be able to start moving again now. I suppose I didn't leave you with much to go off of, so sorry for that.

rustytengo
Everyone focused more on guard duty than on the potential for ghost stories or something. Code: PIRULUK
How much longer are we going to dance ._. Not that Eleriese particularly minds, but Gillem ha got to be getting slightly tired by now.
Raindrop Valkyrie
I was wondering that too lol. Guess we are waiting for the other people to show (I think it is only Subkoopa's character we are waiting for ((sorry I forget his name at the moment)), so whenever they post I assume we will be moving forward in the story a bit)
Flux
Yeah, I was kind of waiting for Subkoopa. I figured he would have to show up some time during this dance, so I was waiting for him to post.. I suppose I'll just end it now anyway. If he doesn't post anything soon, we'll just have to continue with out him and say Es changed his mind or something. It's hard to tell if he's been on because his activity settings are private. ._. On a side note, I want your opinions on the pace of the story. Am I moving it too slowly? I like to go into detail, but I don't want to bore you all. Also, the map is in the works, and I lied about it. I ended up making it fairly complicated. Here's a preview: Obviously, I still need to add deserts, snow, forests, mountains, and cities. I've been having some trouble with some of it, but I hope to have it done soon. On another side note, when your character is standing watch, I'm going to pretty much leave what happens up to you. Use it as a time to develop backstory for your character, make bandits or something attack, make it calm and peaceful, whatever. Just keep it within reason. Obviously, it's unlikely that something will attack every night, or every watch.
Chevaleresse
It's kind of slow for me, but the RP on these forums in general moves too slowly for my taste.
Raindrop Valkyrie
I think it because we are all on our own shedules, but I think it is moving along storywise so long as everyone who is a part of it sticks around and actually posts lol, I pretty much post whenever I can lol. Also the map is looking nice for the beginning stages, I like how it is coming along, keep working on it would love to see the finished product. Flux
I've posted in Group 2 since nobody seemed to be doing anything... Watches can probably start now. I'm thinking that it's probably time to move on without Es in group 1 as well. From now on, there will be a 5 day waiting period until your character is removed unless you notify me that you won't be able to post. Hopefully that works for eveyone. Let me know if not, and We'll see what we can do. Just post! We've barely started, and it's already slowing down.
Raindrop Valkyrie
yea I kinda agree, and since we are traveling it is pretty easy to feasibility have characters just vanish. (I mean once like the fifth bandit attack happens and they get split up from the group it might get a bit weird, but lets hope not too many people drop lol.) with Es is pretty easy to drop him from the party roster so it shouldn't be too much issue (I only don't post when I have nothing to really post about....like I can't divulge everything about Olrien right off the bat...........lol)

Arkhi
Like most other people here, I'd be subject to the academic screwing of my schedule, so... I'll do what I can to help out Character Name: Kozuto Gender: Male Race: Vanda Nomad Class: Shaman Description: Kozuto is both like and unlike many of the few Vanda Shamans. He grew up without a mother, only having his father and an adopted sister, who filled the mother's role. His father was also a shaman, but pressured Koz to become a bard, as it would benefit the traveling done by the three, keeping morale up. They had no home, as did most Vanda Nomads, and his sister was a thief, allowing the family to get by with both food and money. His father would cook and create shelters from the land as his sister would go into nearby villages and take what money and food she could. However, when Kozuto's father was passing by a large village, nearby elves noticed him and shot him to death, leaving only behind a staff, which was taken up by Kozuto, who carried along his role as a shaman. Kozuto has since then been practicing shaman arts alone (as his sister left him), practices, and prayers, become adept with herblore, very skilled with animals, but incredibly poor with magic over nature. A simple overview: Kozuto is a shaman who is often at peace with himself, but not with others. He holds grudges against elves, but can trust any other Vanda Nomad with his life. Animals are his best friends, and he can survive independently, but cannot stand loneliness, as it reminds him of his father's death and his sister's sudden departure.Looking forward to an awesome RP P.S.- This "adopted sister" thing could be a hint at any female thief or assassin who would like some sort of backstory
