"T-Tristan! A-Are you alright?" The Aipom got back up, and proved to be ready to attack again. "A-alright, Tristan, use Dig!" The Aipom dug a hole into the ground, and buried himself in it, disappearing completely from view. "Ms. Mime...i-it's time to reveal a trump card... Use Icy Wind on Gallade and Absol! And Rebel, a-another Bulk Up!" As Ms. Mime fired a cold wind at the Absol and Gallade, Rebel increased its defenses even further. T-this guy... He's very strong... Even though Reflect was up, he managed to deal a great blow to Tristan...

Despite being slowed by the Icy Wind, Absolution hit the Scraggy with his Play Rough after he was Flung at it, though he was hurting. "Alright, Metang, take care of that barrier by hitting Scraggy with Brick Break, then dodge Dig with Magnet Rise." The Steel type dealt the Dark-type a crushing blow and shattered the existing psychic barrier, not being fazed by the cold. "Now, Gallant, stop another barrier from going up by hitting the Mime Jr. with a Night Slash!" Though the cold had slowed him down, Sarcus focused on his motions and let him dash forward at high speed as his arms swung, cutting at the Psychic-type's weak points. "Absolution, after you're done with the Scraggy, use Hone Claws. Dodge anything that comes your way with Detect."

Oh no... This is not good... Lionel thought as he saw the Metang getting closer with Brick Break. "R-Rebel, Feint Attack!" As the two attacks collided, the Reflect broke, and Rebel was knocked to the floor. As Lionel recalled her, he said: "You did great, Rebel... Leave the rest to us... N-now, Tristan, o-out of the ground and B-Brick Break on Metang!" The Aipom jumped out of the ground, attacking Metang with a powerful Brick Brick, knocking it to the floor. "G-good job! M-Ms. Mime, blast Gallade away from you with Psychic!" As the Mime Jr. focused, she used her Psychic to fling Gallant away with pure willpower.

Gallant flew through the air and landed adroitly, using a roll to negate the shock of the landing. "Now, Gallant, use a Shadow Sneak to get back to that Mime Jr." The Pokemon's shadow extended unnaturally until it came up behind the other Psychic-type, and he swung his arm in a quick, precise strike. "Absolution, hit that Aipom with a Megahorn." The Absol's enhanced accuracy lent itself to the devastating attack as he charged forward at his adversary. "Blues, you're up. Sucker Punch anything that moves." The Pawniard walked onto the field cautiously, alert for any sign of danger. Sarcus raised his arm, which held Metang's Pokeball. "You did well," he said as he returned the Iron Claw Pokemon to the ball.

As Lionel saw the Absol rushing at Tristan, he thought that he was done for. But then he realised that Sarcus used one of his spells to speed up his Pokémon. That's it! He thought. "Parabolic Shield!" He yelled, as a wall of pure energy surrounded Tristan, stopping the Absols attack. "M-Ms. Mime, use your Icy Wind at Gallant!" Ms. Mime wanted to blow her cold wind to Gallant, but then the Pawniard jumped forward, hitting Ms. Mime with a Sucker Punch. "F-fire Icy Wind, now!" Ms. Mime got back up and succesfully blew the cold wind this time, hitting both Gallant and Blues, slowing them. W-why is this battle making me feel...so alive? "Ms. Mime, put Reflect back up! Tristan, hit Blues with Brick Break!" As the Mime Jr. focused and made a new barrier, the Aipom scurried to Blues, aiming his tail for the Pawniards face.

"Blues, Protect yourself! Gallant, use Shadow Sneak again! Absolution, prepare a Sucker Punch." Sarcus grunted in frustration. Apparently, his opponent had figured out his trick. Perhaps this will throw him off a bit. After stowing Metang's pokeball, he raised his now empty hand toward the rival Trainer. His palm glowed momentarily, then a ray of energy shot toward him. It wouldn't cause any harm if it landed, but it looked threatening enough that hopefully his opponent would dodge, distracting him and allowing his team to finish off the remainder of the other team.

Lionel saw the ray of light going his way. Oh no. If he's going to play it dirty, I will too. "Air Shuriken! And you use Protect, Ms. Mime!" As Lionel created two shurikens out of thin air, he saw how the Mime Jr. protected itself against Shadow Sneak. Then he threw the shurikens to intercept the ray. "Good work, Ms. Mime! N-now use Ic-" A shadow jumped right between Ms. Mime and Gallant, hit Ms. Mime, and sent her flying right into Lionel's arms. Absolution, who had just used Sucker Punch, landed to the ground. "Y-you did great, Ms. Mime... Take a n-nice rest..." Then he turned to Sarcus. This may be the end of this battle... But I won't go down without defeating another one of his Pokémon! "Tristan, t-time for y-your s-strongest attack! Retaliate on A-Absolution, now!" Tristan dashed at the Absol, hitting him several times for a lot of damage. That's...revenge for Ms. Mime.

The air shurikens broke through the nearly illusory spell and flew straight at him. He grunted with frustration at what was happening to his Absol, and met the spell with a closed, fiery fist as he used a dragon's fang spell to counter. The impact sent a shockwave through the arena.

Absolution bore the attack as well as he could, but he wasn't particularly tough. He collapsed to the ground under the assault as Sarcus looked on, a scowl on his face. Fine. You want to do that? Gallant, finish this with a Close Combat. The Psychic-type rushed forward and recklessly began assaulting the Aipom. Sarcus realized what he had just ordered. Stop, he commanded halfway through the attack. This is over; there's no need to injure his Pokemon pointlessly. Gallant shrugged and walked back to his trainer. Sarcus recalled Absolution. I'll need to run him to a healing machine; all of the healers will be busy right now.

Lionel could only watch how Gallant roughed up Tristan. "O-oh no... If this keeps up, T-Tristan w-will be..." Then, the trainer named Sarcus ordered Gallant to stop the assault on Tristan. Lionel saw how the Aipom collapsed to the ground. "Tristan!" He yelled. Immediately, he recalled the Pokémon, picked up Ms. Mime, and ran out of the practice arena, looking for a Healing Machine. At the same time, he was talking to Tristan's Pokéball. "H-hang on, T-Tristan... I-I'll make sure y-you will be alright..."

"Well that was exciting, I guess. Now it's time for the next pair, I wonder how this will turn out."

"If it's not as good I might as well just go to sleep"

Aqua closed his left eye again to enter back into a half sleep state

Max walked out to the field a bit nervously, and it showed on his face. He held up the balls for Tiberius, Remia, and Argentia in front of his face. "All right guys, I'm counting on you." He threw the balls hard and released the trio onto the battlefield, and waited for his opponent to arrive.

Tami silently walked up to the battlefield. Its T-A-M-I, she grumbled telepathically to Alina. Staring at her opponent, she groaned under her breath. Maximus had every advantage over her. She pulled out three pokeballs, containing Prisma, Plasma, and Puddle and clicked each button, releasing a beautifly, pichu, and..... a rather small shiny magikarp. I believe in you guys! she smiled as she sent the message telepathically to her pokemon.

Jake turned over to his new friend Aqua and gave him a quick tap

"Hey Aqua, who's the little lady?

Tahmi, was it? Is it just me or did Alina say that totally wrong? Maybe she isn't as awesome as I had believed... Especially when it comes to names..."

You seen this... Tahmi before? She doesn't look anything like that mean old hag watching the two of them..."

Alright, here goes nothing. "Tiberius, Flame Charge at that Beautifly!" The large canine Pokemon rushed forward, wreathed in flames that boosted its Speed. "Remia, show that Pichu who's in charge with a Swagger!" The Dark-type puffed up her chest and strutted about, infuriating the smaller Pokemon. "Argentia, get ready for their attacks with Iron Defense!" The small metal Pokemon gave no outward response, but she was tensing and hardening her already tough armor.

//uh, what kind of pokemon is reima again?//

"Puddle, use bubblebeam and form a wall between Prisma and that arcanine!" The magikarp bounced up, then released a stream of bubbles, blocking Tiberus's way. "Prisma, use attract on the arcanine too! Plasma, tail whip." Cuteness flowed out of Tami's other two pokemon in waves as Prisma gave the arcanine an adorable little pouting face, and Plasma waved his tail around and panted like a puppy.

Maximus growled in sync with Remia. "This isn't gonna happen to me, too. Remia, use Roar and scare off that Beautifly!" The Mightyena terrified her opponents with the loudest sound she could muster. "Tiberius, use Extreme Speed to get around the bubbles and hit that Magikarp with a Wild Charge!" The Arcanine, distraction eliminated, moved almost faster than the eye could see and became wreathed in electricity before charging his target. Since a stronger attack would hurt his land-bound Pokemon, he only had one real option to take care of the Pichu. "Argentia, Mud Slap!" The Aron moved for the first time in the battle, kicking a spray of gritty mud in the Electric-type's eyes.

Lionel wiped away one of his tears as he took his three Pokémon off the healing machine. He released Ms. Mime and Tristan. "I-I'm so sorry... I-I guess I'm just not the best battler there is..." Tristan looked at him with a sad face, and Ms. Mime said: "Don't feel down like that. His Pokémon outleveled us, had greater numbers and better stats. It's only natural we lost." "B-but how can we get stronger if that's the case?" Lionel wondered. "M-maybe this place...is not w-where I need to be..." He recalled Tristan, picked up Ms. Mime, and ran out of the academy, into the forest.

Suddenly, he heard a loud roar out of the bushes. "W-w-what w-was t-that?" "Let's go check it out!" "W-wait!" But yet again, the Mime Jr. was too reckless and jumped in the bushes where the roar came from. As he followed Ms. Mime, he saw a big Pokémon sitting there, wounded. "W-wait- what kind of P-Pokémon is that?" "It's a Druddigon. A Dragon-type Pokémon." Ms. Mime responded. A Dragon-type? Perhaps that's the kind of Pokémon I need... Suddenly, the Druddigon let out a roar and blasted a Dragon Rage at Lionel. "No!" Ms. Mime shooted as she jumped between Lionel and Druddigon and used her Protect. Then, the Druddigon started to charge at them with his Fire Fang, but before he reached them, he collapsed to the ground again. Lionel carefully approached him and put his hand on his skin, leading to him having a lot of pain on his hand and pull it away. "Careful. His ability is Rough Skin." Ms. Mime warned Lionel, but he stayed kneeled with the hurt Druddigon. "I-it's no wonder h-he's attacking us. He i-is s-severely hurt and t-thinks we are his enemy." He turned back to the Druddigon and got a Heal Ball out of his pocket. "H-hey Druddigon, I c-can temporary catch y-you in this item. I-it will heal you. W-what do you think?" The Druddigon roared softly. For Lionel, that counted as a yes, and he threw the Heal Ball at the Dragon. As the Ball shook trice, and then stayed still, Lionel picked it up and released Druddigon. The Dragon-type seemed to be healed and let out a ferocious cry. "A-alright Druddigon, you can go back to the wild now." Lionel said. The Druddigon took three steps to the bushes, then seemed to reconsider and turned around, pointing the Heal Ball. "D-do y-you mean you w-want to come w-with m-me?" Druddigon nodded. "A-alright then! Now t-to come up w-with a name for you... What d-do you think of D-Dray?" Druddigon seemed to consider, and let out an earsplitting roar again. "He says the name is alright." Ms. Mime responded. "O-ok then!" Lionel recalled Dray. Who would hurt a Pokémon that badly, and why? And...would someone have already noticed I ran away from the academy?

Tami sighed as she saw Puddle get smashed into the wall, unable to battle. Keeping a poker face, she let out Petal as Prisma retreated back into her pokeball from the roar. "Petal, spread your Stun Spore across the battlefield." The bayleef let out a snort of acknowledgment and shook out a cloud of gold powder from the leaves on its neck. Meanwhile, Plasma the Pichu shook off some remaining bits of mud from the attack, clearly scratched but still strong.

That's odd. I think I know how to deal with this, though. "Remia, Argentia! Protect! Tiberius, use Overheat and set all of those spores on fire!" A wave of flames burst out of the Arcanine as he let out a mighty roar, setting pretty much everything - including a bit of Max's shirt - alight.

//Im FINALLY back//

"I lose then" said Tami as she watched her two pokemon topple over unconscious. Drawing them back into their pokeballs, she turned and walked toward the nearby healing machine. But a second later, she turned back and grinned. "Good game though, I already knew that I was never going to win considering my disadvantage."

Alina walked back up as usual. "Mark and Grace, youre up next," she called.

Grace darted up onto the field and pulled out three pokeballs with a flourish. "Angel, Sakura, Guardian, lets go!" All three pokemon leapt out and roared proudly, displaying their qualities.

He stepped out a of the crowd slowly arms behind his back. And he was doing a very slow clap.

"Nice hustle... But this is how real men like Jake and I do it."

He started doing some very familiar flips and tumbles. They were exactly like Jake's. They just looked far more experienced.

"At least you'll be more fun than Jake was during basic training... Hopefully... That guy used to have as much personality as a dead fish before we changed him..."

He continued to taunt her with spinning and juggling tricks before he tossed out his pokemon.

"Desert! Sheer! Feather! Let's go!"

He was 2 times as smug as Jake and his pokemon were modestly showing off.

"I doubt you know what you're doing lady. I helped train Jake. If you thought he was bad you have another thing coming..."

His voice was horrendously calm and he teased Grace in the same ways Jake would.

"Now if that old hag over there would start the freakin' battle... I could actually show you how awesome I am"

There was not a single bit of overconfidence in his voice. He knew what to do and how to do it.

Then for some strange reason he tapped his ear and whispered something extremely quietly.

".......Jake....... This is Alpha.......... Come in Jake! This is Alpha. Don't forget the mission....."

Jake was beyond confused and he looked about frantically for the source.

"Now little lady, let's get started! Shall we?"

His smugness was like beauty. It rung through the air like a crisp bell.

Grace's eyes darted over her opponent's pokemon. Looks like I'll have to watch out for that sylveon, the sandslash shouldnt be a problem, and that pidove looks rather weak. "Well, then, good luck to you. My team is centered around our defenses, so have a try at breaking them," she smirked. Grace gave Sakura her signature wave, who was looking patiently over her shoulder. The florges then summoned a cloud of glowing leaves, that quickly shot after Desert. "Angel! Follow up with an Aqua tail right after Sakura's move hits! Guardian, prepare to counter any move that sylveon makes with Iron Head!" Angel the dratini's tail glowed blue, then released a torrent of water that wrapped around it. Guardian's hilt transitioned to silver, and the rest of his body followed suit as he entered an advanced fighting stance.

"Foolish girl, you say you're defensive and then attack first? What is wrong with you? I'm not Jake, I actually come into a battle with a real plan...

Sheer, dazzling gleam to blow back the attacks to the best of your ability... while the enemy is blinded, Feather you do your thing..."

The dazzling gleam set some of the leaves flying off course and Feather handled the rest with a gust.

While the dazzling gleam was shining Mark gave a signal to Desert and the pokemon dug underground, he then proceeded to cover up the hole and disappeared.

The dazzling gleam lifted and all that was left was two of Mark's pokemon.

And it had iron head at the ready.

Looking convincingly defeated, mark spoke.

"How did you... Take out my Sandslash so fast...?"

He put Desert's pokeball away to add to his act.

He glanced over at Guardian, aware of it's coming attack. All he had to do was wait...
