When the light cleared, there were only four pokemon left on the battlefield. A bulging vein slowly appeared on Grace's forehead. "Angel..." she said in a menacing voice. "What the fudge are you doing, hiding in Sakura's fluff?" Grace called the little blue dragon to her side. Whispering so quietly that it was only audible to Angel and Grace, "Go detect where that sandslash is going to hit. I can tell it wasnt knocked out, it just used dig. Once youve located it, blast it with an aqua tail when it comes up, but dont charge it. And meanwhile, tell Guardian to use poison jab on that sylveon." Angel turned and stalked off, obeying, but not happy in the last bit.

"...

That look on her face... She isn't convinced...

Sheer! Protect!

Feather! Hit Angel with quick attack!"

Sheer deflected the poison jab and Feather slammed Angel in the face to stagger it.

"Now!

Desert came flying out of the ground and punched Angel in the back, sending it into the air.

"Good work..."

"Angel, NOW!!" Grace shouted. As soon as the sandslash popped out of the ground, Angel swung a Aqua tail at it, parrying the blow a bit. Though it didnt help so much since she was already slightly unbalanced from the quick attack. The blue dragon flew in a parabolic shape, then hit the ground with a thud. "You okay Angel?" Grace asked. The dratini responded by getting up, weakly. "Angel, stay on the defensive for now. Guardian, Iron Head on that sylveon."

"Sylveon! Watch... Out..."

The Sylveon was too focused on playing around joyfully to actually notice the huge iron head with her name on it flying straight at her back. Before she knew it, it had hit her.

She staggered with barely anything left in her before she could manage to limp onto her paws.

"Are you kidding? Seriously sheer?! Get your head in the game... Sheer! Dazzling gleam! Let's try and hit them all!

Feather! Use air cutter to try to land a hit on all of them too! Desert! Use bulldoze on Guardian! We can slow it and do some serious damage!"

Sheer jumped up as quickly as it could after recovering and let loose an enormous flash of light, air cutter came surging through it while a huge wave of earth followed directly aimed at Guardian.

Alina, do I need to stay for every battle? Seems there won't be classes outside this today, so there's no real point to forcing students to sit around with their hands in their pockets. Sarcus had the sudden desire to be outside of the building. He wanted air, and time to just . . . be with his Pokemon. He idly stroked Absol's head, being careful of the sharp horn.

Before the light from Dazzling Gleam blinded them all, Grace raised her hand and snapped her finger. Immediately, Angel and Sakura took action. A bubble-like shield appeared around Angel, while Sakura raised another glowing barrier across the field, which partially blocked out the bulldoze going through. Nothing happened to the other moves though, they passed through the barrier as if it wasnt there at all. Grace winced as she watched each of her pokemon get hit. Each pokemon looked worn, but not defeated. "Turn 4, you wanna move first or should I?" Grace's face was filled with pure determination now; she wouldnt be satisfied with anything but a win.

Alina paused for a moment. "No. You dont have to stay, but you do have to be back by third period for the second portion of the tests, and you cannot leave the campus. You have about 40 minutes."

Sarcus nodded and turned to walk out of the crowded building. He led the way through the crowd, opening a space for him and his Pokemon to move through. Once outside, he searched out a small open area covered in grass. It isn't the riverside, but it'll do. Sarcus shed the heavy outfit, setting most of the articles of clothing down in a pile and leaving him with just the simple white tee and black pants. Falling over backwards with a thump, he let out a sigh. I'm glad to be out of there; I could barely breathe. Absolution curled up next to him, his soft white fur brushing up against his trainer's splayed arms, though the metal brace dug into him to an extent. Blues and Chomp were getting along fairly well for once, and even Gallant took the opportunity to relax, taking a similar position to Sarcus's. Metang was difficult to read, but gave an impression of contentedness. He sighed again. Bah, I've got to go back in a half hour. Might as well enjoy this while I can, though. The teen closed his eyes, enjoying the sun on his face.

"Finally, look at you, actually not leaving yourself wide open..."

Mark looked extremely dissatisfied.

"Jake hadn't told me anything anything about you, but I can clearly see why he doesn't like you..."

He stretched around for a moment looking at Grace.

"Yeah I can see exactly why..."

He stopped stretching and brushed his clothes off before giving his hand flick pose and pointing at her with both hands.

"You're... Pretty good! Sheer, protect. Feather, air slash them all again. Desert. Earthquake."

Sheer was protected from the sudden fierce rattle in the ground while Feather flung more air slashes in the enemies direction.

"Now Guardian, Poison Jab!! Angel, Thunder Wave!" A wave and a point, and a swirling cloud of glowing leaves appeared around all four pokemon. Guardian, sped up by the automize, shot like a bullet across the battlefield, aiming to hit the Sylveon with its poison-filled tassels. A wave of static electricity surrounded Angel, then moved to intercept the incoming pidove. Tch. Reflect doesnt work so well when its spread out that far, but still, a quick attack from a tiny pidove wont do much damage.

Not even impressed Mark withdrew Sheer.

He scratched his head for a moment...

He yawned.

Strolled around the battlefield for a moment.

Did some push-ups.

Some sit ups.

"Ok. I think that woke me up from how boring this is.

Let's go Onyx..."

An Onix popped out of the ball and yawned extremely loudly, shaking the place around.

Onyx lifted its tail up, ready to smash the first if Grace's pokemon to move.

"Feather, aerial ace! On Guardian!"

There was no question if this move would hit or not, the speed couldn't be matched.

Desert sat just behind Guardian underground, as soon as it would stagger from the aerial ace, Desert would hit it in the back. Onyx waited in case any of the others moved, he watched Angel especially carefully.

The magical leaf that Sakura had sent out in the last move acted like a tracking device, revealing the sandslash's position. "Guardian, protect! Angel, get behind Sakura, then hit everything else with Surf!" Grace then clapped her hands twice, causing Sakura to envelop their side of the battlefield in a sweet-smelling mist, just before a huge torrent of water swept across the battlefield, hurting the florges slightly as well.

Meanwhile, Guardian's protect came up just seconds before the Aerial ace hit him, diverting most of the attack, but since it still wasnt fully up, the Aerial ace still knocked him back a bit.

"Not the smartest for defense are you? I knew you didn't know what you were doing, but I didn't know you were a slow thinker

Desert jumped from the ground at Guardian and bounced off the protect, sending him back to Mark's side of the field.

"Desert, try an earthquake to deal with the water, feather, try and blow the rest back."

"Better watch out for your pokemon! I hope they like water..."

Feather used air cutter to send the mist and the water flying towards the enemies. The mist flew back into the wall revealing enemy locations, the water rushed at them with increasing speed.

Mark's eyes showed that he thought different than what he was saying, he was a bit impressed.

"But I'm bored, and you're boring... So..."

He just walked away withdrawing his pokemon.

He tapped his ear and whispered while he walked away.

"This is Alpha,

Jake. We need to discuss the mission. I can't waste my time on this girl. When this is over, meet outside, over."

Jake was dumbfounded, he had no clue where this was coming from.

  • 3 weeks later...

A ball of swirling silver magic appeared between Grace's hands. "Air barrier!" she called, and a cloudy barrier blocked the surf from advancing until it dissipated. The rules said that you could use magic to help your pokemon in the battle, but you couldnt attack or defend your pokemon with your body, Grace thought. There's no way this wouldnt be legal. As the cloud barrier faded, she caught a glimpse of Mark walking away with his pokemon. Running up to him, she yelled, "Hey, are you just ditching the match? Geez, I bet Emerald would never pass you."

His eyes flickered for a moment.

"She wouldn't pass you either with skills like those! It's not about passing, it's about loyalty to the end... If you would learn that... Maybe you could be helpful during future missions.. Improve, maybe I'll spend some time with you. But now? No... You're too young... Wait until you have an emotion to carry into battle, and then you'll see."

He tapped his ear and whispered.

"Outside, now."

Jake was extremely petrified by this voice in his head... But he had to find out what was going on.

Jake walked out of the crowd as Mark had finished leaving to go outside.

when he finally got outside he asked

"What're you doing here? Are you the one talking inside my ears?"

Mark quickly replied

"Yes, do you remember the mission?"

Jake was utterly confused at this point.

"Mission...?"

Mark tapped Jake's head

"You feeling alright?"

Jake remembered hitting that rock and going unconscious.

"No I don't... And I have no clue of what you're saying... But if it was amnesia from the..."

Mark quickly gave him his attention.

"Amnesia...? No wonder... Jake, do you still have the weapons bag you received for the mission disguised as your backpack?"

Jake remembered Emerald taking it from him.

"Yeah but Emerald's got it..."

Mark turned away quickly.

"No no... It's fine. Try to remember the mission... I'll see you later..."

Mark dashed off into the brush while Jake pondered on what just happened.

He went back inside to watch the rest of the fights abruptly and then lost focus trying to remember this mission... What did it have to do with the weapons bag?... And mark? Jake's mentor...?

He could only hope it was something good... But for now he had to focus on the matches.

Lionel was almost back. Almost. Then Ms. Mime talked to him again. "So...you're just gonna walk away from school because you lost? Is that it?" "M-Ms. Mime, i-it's not a-as simply as tha-" "Yes. Yes it is. You lost once, and now you think you're weak." "I-it's not like that! I'm...I'm...just n-not cut out f-for it..." "I'm pretty sure Tristan and Rebel don't share that opinion, and neither do I. Even Dray trusts you...kinda." He stared at the small Psychic type. "Y-you...really think I s-should go b-back?" "Yes. In fact, if you go back now, they might not even have noticed that you were gone." Lionel considered. "O...okay then... L-let's go back..." He grabbed Ms. Mime and ran back to the academy. Even though I'm used to our mental discussions... Ms. Mime never ceases to amaze me...

When he was almost back there, he stopped and thought of something. "S-shouldn't we i-introduce Dray to Tristan a-and Rebel?" "Is that really a good idea? I mean... He's kinda violent." Lionel stared at her. Even though he may be violent... There's nothing as important as teamwork. "Come on out, guys!" Lionel said as he released Tristan and Rebel from their Pokéballs. "I-I want you to meet our n-newest friend... Just m-make sure not to a-anger him, ok?" The Pokémon nodded. "O-ok, Dray, time for you to meet y-your new f-friends!" Dray jumped out of his Heal Ball, and looked at the small two Pokémon before him. "Tristan, Rebel, t-this is D-Dray the Druddigon. Dray, t-these are Tristan the A-Aipom and R-Rebel the Scraggy." Tristan friendly greeted the Dragon type, Rebel nodded at him. And as a way of greeting, Dray let out an earsplitting roar. Tristan immediately went back into his Pokéball, while Rebel was preparing herself for eventual battle, and so was Dray. "W-woah, guys, y-you're not supposed to b-battle each other..." However, since the two Pokémon were still in battle stance, ready to attack each other, Lionel saw no other possibility than to recall them both. "I told you, didn't I?" Lionel sighed. So far for the teamwork...

Alina let out a sigh. "Last match! Ethic VS Harry, you may begin as soon as both are ready!"

Harry casually walked up to the battlefield. "Star, Tera, Mohawk, the three of you are up," he said in a cool voice as he brought out two pokeballs. Mohawk the Scraggy strutted up smugly from by Harry's side, and joined its two female friends on the battlefield. Star and Tera both turned to the older fighting-type as if he was their leader.

Sarcus jumped as he heard a distinctive roar. A Druddigon. He immediately stood, waving at his team to follow. They shuffled along behind him, a bit irritated with being disturbed from their rest. He headed straight for the source of the noise, and found himself a rather deflated-looking Lionel. "Hey. Have you seen a Druddigon around here?"

As Jake stuttered back into the arena he found that someone a bit too much like him take the field.

His eyes twitched a bit before they were Ice cold with anger. He mumbled under his breath a bit.

"The calm cool and collected trainer is supposed to be me, thank you..."

Sarcus appeared out of nowhere. "Hey. Have you seen a Druddigon around here?" Lionel quickly put the Poké Ball and the Heal Ball in his pocket. This guy... Sarcus. Can I trust him? He decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. "Y-yes... I have. In f-fact... He's in t-this here Heal B-Ball..." He told Sarcus how he found the wounded Druddigon, healed him with his Heal Ball, and how he decided to stay with Lionel. He didn't tell Sarcus how he was planning to leave the academy because of his loss though, or how his team members seemingly didn't like Dray at all. "A-and that's the whole story..." Lionel lied. "I think i-it's better to not c-call him out n-now t-though, he can b-be kinda violent..."

Hmm. I didn't figure he was the type. "That's pretty normal. It's a lot easier to raise a dragon if you catch it as a hatchling, but that's not a luxury you have with Druddigon." He thought for a moment. This guy clearly needs some advice, but Lionel doesn't exactly seem to be the commanding type. My advice might not exactly encourage him. "You know, you did pretty well in that battle. If I can be blunt, it's pretty clear you don't battle often, but you kept me on my toes - even though, by the strictest rules of battle, I was cheating, plus I do this more often that you do. Don't look so down." He shrugged. "I might be able to help you with your Druddigon, by the way."

Lionel wasn't really paying a lot of attention, as he thought about how he could tame his ferocious dragon, but then Sarcus said "I might be able to help you with your Druddigon, by the way." Y-you could?!" Lionel replied, "T-that would be awesome...um, I m-mean, if you d-don't have other t-things to do..." He took out the Heal Ball. "A-alright then, here goes n-nothing..." he said as he released Dray.

((So I presume we're just gonna pretend that Ethic was there the entire time?))

"Last match! Ethic VS Harry, you may begin as soon as both are ready!"

Ethic got up from where he sat nearby, watching as the other young man, presumably Harry, walked onto the battle field and sent out his team consisting of a Larvitar, Scraggy, and Larvesta. Ethic swapped his gaze between the three of them, sizing up the incoming opposition.

They won't be much of an issue... He thought to himself, reaching inside one of the pockets within the inner lining of his fatigue jacket and withdrawing the poke'balls of his own team. he walked onto the Battle field, hiding just how much confidence he had in his achieving victory from this. He sent out his party one by one, addressing them each as they emerged forth onto the battle field.

"A Fiery Star rising into the night sky, Nova! Stand at my side as your Father before you once did!" he called out as the young growlithe materialized out of the burst of white light, her eyes falling eagerly on the competition

"I'm still kinda pissed at you for eating my entire stash of Common Candies and making all that training go to waste... but, Politician, you know the Drill." a Seviper emerged beside Nova, a look of arrogance on it's serpentine face as it caught a glimpse of what it was actually up against. it turned to look at Ethic, sheer disappointment in it's eye's.

"Don't you give that look," he said in response "You wouldn't be fighting them had you just kept out of my bag."

He tossed the final red and white sphere into the air.

"You're the newest member, but I think that you've got potential. Prove me right, Ambar!" a ferroseed emerged next to Nova and Politician, sitting on the ground, carefully analyzing the enemy in complete silence.

Ethic tucked his left hand into his pants pocket, taking hold of a warm, smooth object there, in-case he had somehow underestimated the other side, and would need it.

He yelled out to the other young man

"Go on, make the first move!" while at the same time thinking to himself

yeah... so that I can crush you and your team...
