"Nah, that's not the way to do things. Getting angry at people doesn't really help anything. It just makes both of you unhappy. Wish I could use my own advice, though. I can't stand seeing him. You know what he did after his Absol messed me up? He said I deserved it. Didn't apologize or anything. Can you believe that?" Max strolled down the hall. "I'm gonna go grab some lunch. You coming?"

Jake had a sudden deep frown as he heard the line he had said about making both people unhappy and realized maybe his view of revenge was wrong.

"You're right. The emotions caused by my issues shouldn't be put onto anybody. But... How would a person like me get them out? It just doesn't work! I manage to make things worse by expressing myself. But then people just become unhappy like you said. Then you've got crazy people like Sarcus who just bottle it up. So... Him and I are alike... We can't deal with our problems without hurting each other... Come on! Let's forget this and grab some lunch!"

Grace sighed as she picked up her chimchar. It had been sleeping on her foot, completely undisturbed by the chatter around him. He was cute in his first evolution, but stubborn as a mule. Grace knew that it would mean that Char would be almost uncontrollable in his final stages, but she was also determined to have him as a leading member of her team. After all, pretty much all her family members used infernape.

Max waved at her. "Hey, Grace! I'm Max. Jake told me about you." He noticed the Chimchar she was holding. Tiberius and Ignatius did too, apparently, and both walked from Max's side to greet their fellow Fire-type. He smiled at them. "The Combusken is Ignatius, and Tiberius is the Arcanine, by the way."

"You see Max, Grace really is... Amazing at healing. She cares about people's well being tenfold times more than I do. She can heal complete strangers like it's nothing but I have trouble healing people like close friends. Not only am I just a bad healer in general, but I have funky mood swings I can't control. Therefor I can't hold one emotion. Meaning I can't heal anybody correctly. She... Could care and trust for an entire nation before I could even make friends with anybody..."

The sleeves on his shirt slid down over his hands slightly before he pulled them back to his wrists gently.

"Really makes me consider what's wrong with me."

He dropped his gaze to the floor.

"I can't seem to connect to people like she can. But whatever, she makes it look easy and I don't even have the same qualities as her. But what do I do good? She's as to healing as I am to...? I don't know... I'd have to consider that. It's hard to explain my feelings for other people. I'm not a scumbag only for myself, neither do I hate anybody. It's just that I don't care. You know?

If Grace saw a crying child she'd help him faster than I could even look at him.

I don't know what I'd do... Walk by? Gaze? Ask him what's wrong? I'm never the same, but always the same at the same time...

Never the same emotion but always the same question, what and for why would I act?

It's hard to explain. But I'm sure you understand."

Max turned back to Jake. He put a comforting hand on the younger Trainer's shoulder. "I'll be totally honest with you. I don't know how you feel. I've never really had problems with connecting with people. There is one thing I think I can say, though. You're thinking about that right now. That means you care about being nice. If you didn't, you wouldn't look so sad about it." Max removed his hand. "Now come on, cheer up. You still haven't really introduced me to Grace. Maybe if you hang out with her, some of her gooey emotional connection stuff will rub off on you."

He gave Jake a slight look at the mention of Sarcus's name, but otherwise ignored it. "For the most part. I've got a free period when you have history, and vis versa, but otherwise it's exactly the same. Except for magic classes, of course. I never really asked; which do you take? I know you're in healing class, but what about your other one? I take offensive magic."

Grace turned as the boys approached. "Hey Jake, what's up? And what's your name again? I recognize you from healing class." She bent down to examine the pokemon, then patted each one. "Your pokemon look pretty well trained, mine are all over the place," Grace said, rolling her eyes at the last part.

//writers block. I think im wasting all my creativity on the backstory of this RP, as it is slowly looking more like a novel.//

"Thank you," he said, giving a slight bow. "Your Pokemon don't look all that bad, from what I've seen. I'm Maximus, by the way, but you can call me Max." Tiberius understood human speech fairly well, and puffed up proudly at the compliment, sticking his chest out. Ignatius entered a sparring stance and looked at Grace's Chimchar, inviting it for a bit of practice.

Grace shot Jake a look that clearly said, "Say that again, and I'll kill you." She turned to Max. "The ones that came with me from home are at least okay, but Angel, my dratini is a total bossy boots and Char the chimchar is as stubborn as a mule."

Char nodded back at Ignatius and leaped out of Grace's arms, assuming a very silly fighting position.

"Hmm. I don't know a lot about training Dragon-types, but Fire-types are kind of my thing. I know that Tiberius gets ornery if he doesn't have a chance to run around and show off his power, get some energy out, you know? How often does Char get to practice?" He looked down at the Chimchar in question. Ignatius had let out a small sigh at the other Pokemon's stance, then started trying to adjust it, showing the younger one what a proper fighting stance looked like. Tiberius looked expectantly at Grace, waiting for a pat on the head or perhaps a treat.

"Well, Char only hatched yesterday, and according to my dad, all he wants to do is fight his infernape, despite always getting one-hit KO'ed. I dont think Char's aware that he's only level 2." Grace replied. She absentmindedly rubbed Tiberus's head, who had inched over to her looking for pats.

Jake's eyes glimmered when Grace gave him her reaction. His pokemon were chuckling too. They actually found getting reactions like that from Grace hilarious. They broke into a horrid bickering at Char's stance, Soul even trying to give Char an example.

Once He realized that they were waiting for an idea, Jake gave a few suggestions

"Back of the Cafeteria sounds nice, I've heard a group of cool cat Trainers hang out there!"

He looked at his friends stares of disapproval slowly frowning, until he quickly returned to a smirk and hissed the words.

"You're right guys... Grace doesn't belong there I agree!"

He gave a wink to Grace that told her he was just kidding.

"Why not close to the exit? We might actually be able to escape the crowd."

Sarcus noted Jake and Max approaching. "I'll talk to you later if I've got time, Jake. I need to get some extra practice in, so I'm heading to magic class early." He nodded to Grace. "You, too, if you're interested. After I get out of school, I'll probably head to the woods like usual." With that, he stood and set off toward the classroom. After he left, Max took his seat and began chowing down on his food. "You know what," he mumbled though a mouthful of food, "this is actually pretty good." He started after a moment. "Oh, here you go." He pulled out a bag of cans and tossed it to Argentia, who began munching on them passively. Tiberius turned his nose up at the food that had been set out for him, preferring to look about for scraps. Ignatius was too distracted by Char to eat, and Celeste stopped flopping about to actually eat her food. Max absentmindedly brushed her with a spare hand as she ate. Remia was busy eating Tiberius's food, glancing up occasionally to ensure the other canine Pokemon wasn't watching.

Jake ate his food slowly examining the flavor and handed some of it to his pokemon occasionally to have them eat it.

Soul nodded hardily the the flavor and gave a thumbs up.

Z ate it and didn't do anything... He just kept staring intently at absoluteltly nothing.

Whisper ate it and shook his head slightly with a squinted eye.

Demon ate it and snarled at the food's aftertaste.

Once Jake finally swallowed the food he mumbled amongst himself and his pokemon.

"Good, good. But to salty. Could do with some seasoning on the mashed potatoes with pepper...maybe some marinade on the steak, even a sautéed one would taste great. What did like is a Hawaiian marinade with worchestire sauce. What you think guys?"

His pokemon nodded with him in agreement.

He looked up a Max to see what he was doing and then continued eating.

Max nodded at Jake, then picked up his tray and stood. He dumped the remaining contents in the nearest trashcan (despite the protests of Tiberius), set it down in the designated location, then went about collecting his team. He had to return Argentia to her pokeball, since she flatly refused to detach herself from the chair leg she had been eating. Ignatius had finished his short spar with Grace's Char, and had managed to get a few berries from somewhere. Remia and Tiberius got into a short scuffle once the latter discovered his food had been. . . borrowed. . . but they stopped at a hard look from their Trainer. Celeste seemed to have calmed down after eating, and sat placidly in the crook of Max's arm. "See ya later. It's almost time for class." He headed in the direction of the healing classroom.
