Sutoratosu
so I've been having money and supply issues for a while now in game, and I happened to look into my pc boxes and saw all the pokemon i had captured, all just sitting there, not doing anything for anyone. i thought to myself "good God, look at them. if only there were some way to use them to make money, since it's not like their helping out otherwise." then an idea came to me (calm down everyone, im not suggesting something like the butcher chop from a certain firered hack... my ideas much more sensible and hummane.) The pokemon repopulation project going on in reborn (it's mentioned on a sign in the back desk of the grand hall) basically my idea is this: make so that you can loan out your Pokemon to the project, it would be like leaving them at day-care, except you'd be getting paid for it, and they would be bred rather than gain exp., and just like in the daycare, you can take them out or put them in anytime you wish. I was also thinking that the mechanics could work like the daycare, though instead of gaining 1 exp per foot step, after a set number of footsteps, an egg is produced, and you get paid for each egg produced. How it would work: (numbers and rates) leave Pokemon with project officials for Pokemon under level 60- after 2500-5000 steps are taken, an egg is produced for Pokemon over level 60- it will take 6000-10000 steps for an egg to be produced two pokemon may be left at a time, however, they will NOT be breeded with one another, even if they're within the same egg groups, and of opposite genders, as that's what the daycare service is for. the rate of steps needed to produce an egg rises the higher level the Pokemon is. for every egg, a base of 500$ will be paid, regardless of the level of the parent the higher the level the pokemon is however, the more money will be paid for eggs produced by the pokemon, making it unsensable to just spam in low level pokemon. the equation can be deduced at a latter date female pokemon that are left will produce eggs that are worth more than if a male pokemon was left. trainers who try to leave dittos in the project's care will be offered upfront cash payment, anything between, 5000 and 10000$,(also affected by level) given the condition that they'll have to agree to relinquish full custody of the pokemon to the Reborn government, ergo, once they are dropped off, that's it, they will have to part ways with their trainers. to prevent any claimers off seller's (donaters) remorse, they should be asked 1."are you sure about this?" answer "yes": 2."are you really, really sure? it's a pretty big decision..." answer"yes": and be asked 3."okay, no, seriously! I don't think you understand the magnitude of this decision, there's a very good chance that you and ditto will never see each other again. you sure that you'd be okay with that?" i also think it could be an excellent way to aquire rare and hard to find species, such as starters and such. simply pay a fee (let's call it a donation) ranging from 3000$-10000$ (depending on the egg's species rarity) , and be given the opportunity to chose a single egg to take under your care. the eggs available to choose from could vary from day to day, as well as with weather patterns (ex. if its raining out side with thunder and lightning, then rare water and electric types would be available) I understand if this idea comes to late to be implamented into the next episode, but, anyway, what do you guys think? Khayoz
The only issue with this is the amount of scripting that is needed, and from what I see on the Development page, we don't actually have anyone who knows Ruby programming well. (We did, but it seems they are inactive now...?)
Sutoratosu
oh sorry, i see now that my idea would probably take a incredible amount of extra scripting. i'd offer my services just to see it done if I could, be sadly, I'm a total noob when it comes to things like game scripting. however, if the breeding program would take to long to create, could it be possible to make it so that we instead maybe sell eggs to the guy standing at the backdesk in the grand hall,(the one where you talk to him and the repopulation is mentioned) say for a solid rate 1000$ per egg, no rise or fall in price due to conditions.this would take a lot less coding. maybe make so that people can't access the offer until after a certain point, like maybe after the daycare couple is rescued. that way people can't start a lot of earning early on in the game. Khayoz
I've used Pokemon Essentials a little, and as far as I know it's not possible to sell Eggs as they don't count as items (unless I've missed something). That being said it might be possible to delete the Egg from the party and add the money after...
jumpfight5
Know how the daycare guy asks if you want the egg or not? I guess maybe if you said no, he'd just keep it and you'd be paid, with a line saying something along the lines of "I'm going to give this to the re-population center. Maybe you could pick up the check?". I'm not super keen on this idea though, it seems like it's a small amount of work for potentially big gains. And if you wanted to make it so that it was more difficult, it'd require a lot of scripting.

If it can be done, I think that this is the best route. Edited January 1, 2014 by Legendaries tamer
Khayoz
That might work, I'll see if I can do something with it later
Tempest
If the right balance is struck, it could be a viable element. Kind of a steady income. Coding wise, like Khayoz said, it could be pretty heavy depending on it's implementation. The badge idea seems to be the best way to do it. I would put the price at 8 badges a bit higher. Maybe around 3000? EDIT: The equation 400+400(n-1), where n is the number of badges, gives a nice price increase, culminating at around 7000 with 18 badges. But that seems a bit low at 18. Maybe it should be a piecewise function. Edited January 2, 2014 by CobraKill
Alphagar
This is a really great idea. :
