Cowtao
Introduction~ Welp, i'm late to the party. This has been a very common set that I've been using on most of my ventures into OU thus far. This team has been built a long time ago but I never choose to RMT it. After awhile I thought that this might be a good template to show off the sheer force and power of slowing down people's game and proving to everyone that Breloom is beyond awesome in this generation. Let's get on the road! Background Teambuilding~ Naturally this set came from a very good friend of mine, Renzo. One day he though that Rock Tomb Breloom would be the absolute best idea he came up with. Naturally I decided to use this idea and I've built up a team before that used Breloom, Florges, and a few others and had some decent success with it. Overtime some of the top ladderers got smarter and built better Hyper Offensive teams to ruin my game so the idea was scrapped. Later on Summer helped me on with making a this set but instead of using Breloom as just a pivot he suggested a build that can help around Charizard-X. Naturally I made some modifications on my own but this is the final product. I have to say, I love this team. Teambulding~ First off, we need a Charizard-X to base our team around. Me and Summer naturally looked for a good Mega that can Setup and be that automatic win button when all it's threats are gone and Charizard-X can start sweeping. Now. We needed teammates to do the following things for Charizard-X; Allow it safe passage to setup, be able to eliminate it's checks and counters, cripple stall, and to take up status moves. Naturally me and Summer thought of a certain undead jellyfish. Now that we had a pokemon that can effectively nullify other offensive threats we needed someone to take Physical Hits. Also we needed it to Synergize well with the current team of Jellicent and Charizard-X. Enter the Kitty-Cat. Good. We have an Intimidate user with Momentum, a crippler, and a Set-Up Sweeper. Now we need someone to get rid of those pesky pebbles that manage to clips Charizard's Wings in half. We went to a bug that quite frankly went through a factory shifting red Camaros. Now we needed someone to heal up the crew. Someone that synergizes well with the team and can resist Mandibuzz. In the end, I choose the flower. Finally we needed a pokemon that can get a good lead and smack the heck out of some of the more common leads on there. Summer choose to go for the Chameleon Heliolisk. Eventually overtime Heliolisk had a downfall in that his Double-Edged Typing was too far-fetched just to only counter Aegislash. So I finally summed up the courage and I found a shrubbery. Ni! Pokémon In Depth~ Apache (Breloom) (F) @ Focus Sash Trait: Technician EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Mach Punch - Rock Tomb - Spore - Bullet Seed Primary lead of the team is Breloom with Focus Sash. Breloom is one of the most underrated leads in that most Rotom-W sets run Chesto Resto. Also with Greninja and Genesect not too far behind Breloom is a very reliable pokemon that can use Bullet Seed to score some clean KO's and to widdle down on the Hazard Leads like the Deoxys Brothers [D and S]. Rock Tomb is a very useful Coverage move that can surprise people and score some easy OHKO's against Volcarona, Charizard-Y. and etc. Pringles (Jellicent) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Water Absorb EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Will-O-Wisp - Recover - Taunt - Surf A very good Defensive wall against some very common Physical Megas like Khan or Lucario, Jellicent can effectively stop a sweep from both of the Physical Sets and cause more chipping damage to the enemy team. Jellicent also can act as a decent Spinblocker if Landorus-T choose to go for Stealth Rocks and also has decent synergy with it. Lynx (Landorus-T) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Intimidate EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Earthquake - Knock Off - U-turn - Stealth Rock / Stone Edge Landorus-T forms a job to get be an amazing Pivot and to murder stall teams using lefties or chip off Toxic Orbs. A very useful pokemon when I get the upper hand and do all the right moves. I alternate between Stealth Rocks and Stone Edge based on my performance and what I need at the moment. The set is obscure because i'm not running Stone Edge and Earthquake all the time because I figure, why have Stone Edge when I already have a pokemon that has Rock Coverage down? That's the cat for me people. Retaliation (Scizor) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Technician EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Bullet Punch - Defog - Roost - U-turn The prime Defogger of the crew. Scizor takin' up Physical hits and eating them from breakfast. He also can reliable force switches against common Clerics like Blissey, Florges, or Sylveon. Couple with momentum that fits with Landorus-T, good synergy and power; what can you go wrong with a bug like Scizor? Fleetwood (Florges) (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Flower Veil EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Moonblast - Aromatherapy - Wish - Protect You've seen this flower everywhere so i'm not going into too much depth. This is basically my answer towards Dark-Type staller likes Mandibuzz and my answer to a pokemon that provides Wishes and Status healing. Not much to say here so off the best and last pokemon of the crew. "RAAAAAWWWWWRRRRR!" Damnation (Charizard) (F) @ Charizardite X Trait: Blaze EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Flare Blitz - Dragon Claw - Earthquake The main king and champion of the whole team, Charizard-X spews awesome. Charizard-X is one of the great Physical Attack with Tough Claws, being able to sweep through whole teams at +2 or even +1. It's typing allows me to suck up Will-O-Wisps aimed at Scizor and it's typing let's make sit in on Rotom-W all day. I've swept through many teams with this set and it is personally one of my favorite sweepers to use. Conclusion~ This is one of my favorite teams I have used right after The Sand Dunes. I always loved Mega Charizard-X's design and being able to use it in battle to sweep over my opponents is a very awesome feeling. I'd recommend this set to get a general idea as to what you want to do for your Setup Sweeper teams. You must be able to support your sweeper fully and be able to sacrifice to ensure safe switch ins or to throw away Hazards. Extras~ Fun Facts: -This took a decent 1 & a half hour to make the RMT -I was ranked #7 on my peak of using this team -Sylveon is a replacement towards Florges in Showdown but PO hasn't updated Pixilate yet -I'd like to think i'm an evil genius for using Breloom as a Lead -Renzo and Summer are fgts. No illy, luv u guys. <3 -This is my favorite teambuild I made -Cothugrigus was here -I made this and it's currently 3 in the morning so i'm going to bed. Bai. c: Skeleton: Apache (Breloom) (F) @ Focus Sash Trait: Technician EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Mach Punch - Rock Tomb - Spore - Bullet Seed Pringles (Jellicent) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Water Absorb EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Will-O-Wisp - Recover - Taunt - Surf Fleetwood (Florges) (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Flower Veil EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Moonblast - Aromatherapy - Wish - Protect Retaliation (Scizor) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Technician EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Bullet Punch - Defog - Roost - U-turn Lynx (Landorus-T) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Intimidate EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Earthquake - Knock Off - U-turn - Stealth Rock Damnation (Charizard) (F) @ Charizardite X Trait: Blaze EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Flare Blitz - Dragon Claw - Earthquake Edited January 6, 2014 by Cowtao
Sapphire
IMO Breloom as a lead seems too common these days. One of my teams has a lead specifically to deal with Breloom.
Shanco
Specially defensive Scizor, existing on the team for the sole purpose of Defog, seems kind of pointless. It may have one weakness, but there's a number of other Pokemon that does the defensive Defog ordeal better. Also I'm against Breloom lead as well. Leads benefit from being unpredictable. That is what Breloom isn't. "Oh, a Breloom. I'll toss out Skarmory to take that Spore and send Infernape right back out once that's taken care of." U-turn will sabotage your strat here quite easily. Sapphire
I use Ditto to counter Breloom myself.
Magus
I use Mandibuzz, excellent bulk, good move set and overcoat protects from spore, I just wish he used a little bit more. As a matter of fact, I would argue that he is the best defoger in the game, due to good typing and bulk, but scizor is still a good choice. Sapphire
Is it just me, or is mandibuzz more bulky in 6th?
Lil' Baby Rupe
nothing wrong with breloom lead imo tbh lolpeople use deo-d to set hazards and everyone knows what he's going to do - doesn't make him any less viable ?.?if people use mandibuzz vs breloom there's nothing stopping him from going to florges and moonblasting lol. seriously though, breloom lead is still cool however I don't think it really fits in the with the teams semi-stall approach. Looking at your team I can see a pretty big weakness to genesect. his standard ice beam/flamethrower/tbolt coverage moves break 3/4 of your defensive core and U-turn puts your florges under unnecessary pressure. Another threat to your team is banded talonflame. sure you have landorus-t but after several brave birds your team will be under way too much pressure. For me a Specially Defensive Heatran > Sash Breloom will solve two pretty glaring problems to your team. Heatran can also provide SR so you can put Stone Edge or Hidden Power [ice] on Landorus-T i'm personally not sure how I feel about sp def scizor but maybe you should find some space for Superpower on its movepool because Special Mega-Luke with Dark Pulse kinda shits on your entire team with hazards up. idk how good this rate was so sorry if it was a let-down. hf ly xo Edited January 6, 2014 by Rupe
Shanco
Is it just me, or is mandibuzz more bulky in 6th?Nah. Dark-types just got better overall in transition between generations. That and its combat potential was seriously underrated.
SJMistery
i prefer Pixilate Sylveon instead of Florges, his sound move avoids you get PP stalled and swept by subDDNite
Cowtao
>>; I already know that this team is horribly outdated a bit. I just use this team a lot because I have a lot of fun with it and actually winning with it. I already am aware of the weaknesses I have against Special Mega-Luca and even Mega-Gengar but I save that towards Showdown. PO is more of a testing grounds for shtuff. Thanks for the suggestions though, keep 'em coming. I want to see what you guys think I need. owo
Magus
Is it just me, or is mandibuzz more bulky in 6th? Yes as a matter of fact all pokemon have more health, thanks to the HP IV added this gen. "Takes plenty of siestas" is the highest you can get.
Sapphire
There always has been an HP IV....
Magus
There has?, well I never truly paid attention to IVs until I picked up competitive battling this gen. Also what does "takes plenty siestas" due, I know it corresponds with HP, and It's new. Edited January 7, 2014 by Money_Man115
Sapphire
All they did was tweak some of the 'personality phrases' in this gen. HP IVs have been around since Gen 1.
Summer
Can we get back to the topic? this team is great because it has florges ye 10/10 florges op you goin' #1 in ladder all because of florges jk Defog and SR being on the same team is probably my only issue but if you like to have multiple options, why not? also w0w florges
SJMistery
florges sucks! he is the only fairy type capable of loose the one-to-one against a monoattack Dragon set.
Administrators Ikaru Posted January 7, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 7, 2014 You aren't doing this again- rate the team constructively or say nothing.
Wes
Other than the Scizor, it seems solid. If you want to use Scizor as more of a support, go for it, but know that you're essentially wasting his potential of being a revenge killer/priority sweeper by lowering his attack the way you are. There are much better mons to use Defog with. Otherwise it seems like a solid team.
