Lucas addresses you under the statue.

"Welcome back. First, congratulations on your first successful task, but I can't help but notice that not all of you came back."

Lucas glances downward, eyes tinged with the trappings of sorrow; sorrow and guilt. He turns his gaze towards you again, a mask of steel hiding his pain.

"We'll have time to mourn when Eterna is ours."

He points a finger at the tallest building in the city.

"All that remains between us and control of Eterna is the gym leader, Gardenia. You may have heard that she was a friendly gym leader in the past, a kind face to induct new trainers into the rigours of training. Those days are gone. She will be a challenge, an obstacle. Once she has been defeated, this area should be liberated from Arceus' - and therefore Dawn's - sphere of control. Expect nothing, and you will be surprised by nothing."

Lucas turns away, his back facing you.

"I will not be able to join you on this task; my strength is needed in Sunyshore. Give a call back to Command when the city has been secured. I wish you the best of luck."

A red light beams from one of the Pokeballs on Lucas' waist, its shape transforming into an Alakazam. With a flash of light, Lucas vanishes.

You turn towards the gym.

(OOC: For this chapter, I will be controlling Gardenia. Once the doors to the challenge room have been opened, don't post anything until I do. As for the covert ops squad (this includes all new members of this RP), don't post in this thread. I will create another one at a later date for you.)

Looking at everyone else still alive Rin laid Daniel down from her shoulders. She also remembered that Furcht needed some healing before entering the gym. She looked towards everyone and said, "Dose anyone else need to visit the center, cause I need to heal Furcht up, and I also need someone to look after this unconscious bas- guy."

Jory took stock of who else was there. It appeared as though he and Color were the only two members of their team who had made it out alive. He sighed and shook his head, then looked up when he heard Rin ask if anyone needed to use the Pokemon Center. "Shredder needs to heal up. He had a rough match with the Conclave Mother, but we made it out okay." He then walked over and stood next to Rin as she inquired about Daniel.

Lupus was still wearing his newly-acquired detective outfit, the Fedora and the Black Trench coat. He adjusted his sunglasses as the rain pinged off his hat. He looked over at Kael. "We best go on ahead to the gym, I need somebody I can trust at my side." He said rather sternly. He flipped his Strange Pokeball off of his belt, and Lobo appeared. The Houndoom was clearly excited. Soon he would get to snack on some Grass types, at least if that was what Gardenia still used. Pitch black smoke and flame billowed from his mouth at the thought.

Kael smirked and nodded firmly with his arms folded over his chest, a dark haze flowing from his Dark ball formed into Kaine at hisside, whom promptly barred her fangs which were dripping with embers. "Lux! Luxray!" the pokemon grunted softly before the flames subsided, closing her jaw with a smirk on her lips that matched her trainer's. "Sounds like a plan, Lupe. Lead the way." the trainer replied, slinging his guitar case over a shoulder before following his partner off to the gym.

  • 2 weeks later...

The doors to the gym open before you, revealing a woman, with long, flowing brown hair crowned with a circlet. Her green dress hugs her figure tightly, her long skirt billowing around her in its layers of sheer fabric. She beckons to you, and you step into the room cautiously. She smiles and speaks.

"Hello there. I am Gardenia, and welcome to Eterna Gym. Under the rules, the group that can defeat me will obtain the territory that is Eterna City. Hardly a small prize."

Gardenia smirks slightly and claps her hands thrice. Immediately, walls of light appear in between each of you, separating you from your allies.

"Of course, having so many of you fight me at the same time would be slightly disadvantageous for me. Those walls are made of stored solar energy. If you try to pass through them, you will burn up and die. So. You will each fight me, one-on-one, and the rest of you will watch. You can give up at any time, but you'll only get to challenge me once."

She taps her feet against the ground, causing a console to emerge from the ground, containing twelve Pokeballs, arranged in two rows.

"Now then. Who will be the first to die?"

"I might as well weaken her up a bit for the others" Lupus thought to himself. "Kael. I if I don't make it out of this, take this." He placed his backpack full of gear on the floor in his cell. "It has something in it that I was meaning to tell you, and if anybody needed to hear it, I want it to be you."

Lupus walked to the edge of his cage, a dark rage in his eyes. "I will be the first!" He said. Lupus had excepted his fate, it was time to do the damage he could before his most untimely demise.

"I will be using my Houndoom" Lupus sad rather coldly. "And it isn't bravery, if you aren't scared of death." He said as he released Lobo from his ball. Lobo shared his feelings. He stood there the fire in his eyes. If it was time to die, he wasn't going out without burning the world to the ground around him.

The first move was something Lupus wanted. "Lobo, Nasty Plot." he said reluctantly. The Houndoom looked back at him before using the move, innocence in his eyes, all for it to disappear in a second. The Houndoom's face suddenly twisted into a nightmarish mask of pure hatred. Black Smoke billowed out of his mouth and Nostrils. Lobo was barely even in that monster anymore.

"I wish I could say I have control over what will happen next, but he is on his own right now." Lupus said coldly. "Nasty Plot Heightens the mind I am sure you know, by making them think terrible thoughts. However for some reason Lobo loses control of himself. He doesn't became any stronger than normally, but he doesn't listen to me either."

As Lupus finished the Houndoom ran back towards the wall. He springed off of it to get into the air, and then corkscrewed as he released a Fire Blast, it was sent spinning in the direction of the Venusaur.

The Venusaur trembles slightly. It tenses up, then leaps over the circlet of flames. The flower on its back begins to open up, its centre becoming far more porous and moist.

"Venusaur, use Hydro Pump."

From the centre of the flower on its back, Venusaur releases a barrage of clear, pressurised water at the snarling Houndoom.

Lobo, landed just barely being missed by the gout of water from the Venusaur. It caused cosmetic damage by blowing one of his horns off at a jagged edge, but otherwise he was fine.

Lupus was very surprised that was no move a Venusaur normally could learn. He burst out laughing. He looked straight at her, barely being able to contain himself. " You used to be a gym leader? Come on!" He said a huge smirk on his face."You have to resort to cheating to defeat me? You really think I am that much of a threat?" Lupus in his mind was pretty frightened of the fact it could do this. It was no ordinary foe. But he didn't show it, he thought his act would make Gardenia lose her cool, and hopefully make her trip up. Being dead emotionally inside tended to help make his bluffs like this amazingly effective as he was hard to read, but even if she saw through it he didn't care he would either die here no matter what.

Meanwhile the Houndoom begin his next attack. The beast leased more fire from his maw, shooting a scarlet Flame in the direction of the Venusaur. He aimed his more precise Flamethrower attack slightly above the giant beast in case it jumped once more so that if it tried to jump it would at least take minor damage.

"Venusaur, Vine Whip the floor."

A bunch of 8 thick, green vines lashes the floor on Venusaur's left, the recoil propelling him to the right, out of the way of the two flamethrowers.

"Now, Bounce!"

Numerous vines, too quickly to count, strike the floor beneath Venusaur, launching him into the air, directly over the Houndoom.

"Hm. Interesting. Well, I can't exactly have Venusaur changing direction mid-Bounce... Venusaur, grin and bear it."

The Venusaur roars in agony as it plunges through the cloud of flames. Emerging on the other side, its leaves are singed and its flower alight with slight embers. Unslowed by the attack, it hurtles towards the temporarily-immobile Houndoom.

The Earthquake did considerable damage to the Houndoom, however it shook enough that he popped lose from underneath the Giant Green Beast. He now Leased a Fire Spin attack, seeing if he could lock down the Vensaur. a Vortex of spinning scarlet flames headed straight for the big plant monster.

"Venusaur, Hydro Pump!"

The green behemoth loosed a torrent of water from it's flower, dousing the fiery spiral and generating copious amounts of steam.

"Now, Vine Whip the ground!"

The Venusaur promptly obeyed, pushing itself off the ground and hurtling towards the recovering Houndoom.

"Grapple it!"

Six vines shot out from under the large Pokemon's flower as it flew past the Houndoom, wrapping themselves around the Houndoom.

"End it."

The Venusaur corrected its course, landing firmly on the ground and skidding to a halt. Driven by inertia, the still-entangled Houndoom slammed into the ground. The Venusaur raised the Houndoom into the air, then slammed it down again. And again. And again. Finally, it picked up the Houndoom and threw it at Lupus.

Lupus threw his pokeball. It received Lobo before he slammed into him. The ball receiving the Hound meant he was sill living even if barely. Lupus tried to lay the tough guy act, one he was rather adept at. "Fine, you have bested me, the Festering Wolf, and my partner." He said a hideous scowl on his face. "This is no longer my conflict, Choose your next prey" Lupus spat as he reached dow to take the tip of the horn that from Lobo that was blasted off during the battle. "I have more work to do, I choose not to die here if that would convenience you." He said a false flame in his eyes.
