Theo Jumped onto Nivia as she began sliding towards him He held on with all his might as they hit the water hoping he wouldn't go flying off. He wiped his brow, relieved he managed to hold on. "Alright, Lady Nivia swim as fast as you can." he said a bit of worry in his voice.

Nivia sighed in relief as they hit the water's surface. Being back in her own element made her feel that nothing can stop her now, despite the ominous wind's presence. She can feel her flippers adjusting to the rushing torrent of water as the other water Pokemon swam past Theo and herself, finding a right balance to avoid being toppled over while still being able to maintain a fast speed.

"Let's see if that wind can match this!" Nivia exclaimed arrogantly as she began swimming downstream. "Hang on tight, my friend!"

"Look, there was a mountain, and there was a gap in time and space. After that gap disappeared, the wind appeared. So I can't help to think that those two events are connected. So my idea is: travel to the mountain and see what went on there. What do you think?" Wasn't the mountain he was talking about the same one where I encountered Ninetails? Maybe going there, if Ninetails is still there, will answer why turn me into a Pokemon, and to check it out for any source of the wind might be a good idea too. "Sure, that sounds good. I happen to know my way to the mountains as I was just there recently, shall I lead the way?"

Theo didn't reply, though Nivia probably knew what he would have said. The Little Pancham, held on with all of his might. The flew down the river pretty quickly, Theo reckoned that the direction they were headed was towards the Mountain that the anomaly happened at. He wondered if the wind was coming from there, the wind felt strange enough, maybe it could be related to the anomaly or it could just be a coincidence. These thought raced through his head along with a lot of thoughts of what would happen to him if he lost the grip he had on Nivia. Theo tried to push those thoughts from his mind, remaining silent for most of the trip.

Blaze stopped as he exited the forest, looking out over the bluff at the rushing water. He still hadn't found any place that looked secure enough to rest for the night, and he was becoming especially uneasy the longer it took. He had a feeling that something powerful had caused that ominous wind, and he wanted to get as far away from it as he could. As he looked at the water, he saw a white shape moving quickly with the current. It appeared to be a Pokemon of some sort, and had something on its back. He tried to find somewhere to hide, but the forest was too far away, and there were no trees or bushes to use as cover. With no other option before the Pokemon came by, he spread himself out on the ground, hoping to make himself flat enough that it would swim past without noticing him.

The mysterious presence returns to the area in which the young Trainer has met with a Togepi and a Gardevoir. It hovers, seemingly just out of sight, as if taunting those nearby, in the direction of the mountain over which the rift had appeared.

Nivia began feeling less and less pressure as she continued swimming downstream, minus the small load on her back, of course. After what seemed like a few minutes, Nivia finally slowed down and began to check her surroundings. There were less trees and more open plains; there was a slight, more comfortable breeze coming in from further down the river. The water Pokemon swimming down below also seemed more relaxed, some Magikarp even came up for a gulp of air. Nivia sighed with relief; safety seems to be around the corner, for now. She swam at a more leisurely pace, gathering herself for the next sprint if necessary.

"Theo, from the looks of things, I believe we are safe, even if it is for a few minutes. The Magikarp and some Finneon look well from down here. Do you see anything from up there?"

"Sure, that sounds good. I happen to know my way to the mountains as I was just there recently, shall I lead the way?" Yuki said. She has been there before? "Well, I guess that simplifies things. I'll be right behind you, Yuki." He told the Froslass. Hm... The Cataclysm... And now this... These events must be connected somehow... Suddenly, Sark heard a noise. A noise...that seemed to be not in place. "Oh. And by the way, I don't think it would be a bad idea for us to hurry." He started to speed up his pace.

Theo saw something that looked blueish on the riverbank. He might not have seen it if it weren't for how keen his eyes were. All the experience he had from searching for relics made his vision very sharp and he had great observation skills "I see something strange, not sure what it is I will check it out Lady Nivia. And don't worry I won't stray too far from the banks." he said as he hopped onto the banks. His little stubby legs carried him along the banks until he was sure he was at the area he saw the Blue blob. Theo saw a small pokemon, a Cyndaquil. He didn't now if it noticed him yet so he stopped moving, He put down his walking stick and opened the Handkerchief tied to the end getting out an Oran Berry. He rolled it just hard enough that it would hopefully stop in front of the little Cyndaquil. He then spoke in as calm a voice as possible. "Hello there! No need to hide, me and my friend come in piece." Theo didn't know if the little guy was afraid of him and Nivia, but he knew he was afraid of something.

"Be careful!" Nivia shouted as Theo approached what seems to be a small, blue object out on the land. This time, Nivia chose to stay in the water, just in case they needed a quick escape again. She watched as her Pancham friend rolled an Oran Berry out to this blue blob and spoke softly to it. The Dewgong tried moving her head this way and that, hoping to get a better view of this new object. Whatever it is, Theo didn't seem intimidated by it, so it must be okay. With that, Nivia swam a little upstream to get a better look at it.

That it turned out to be a young, or just very scared, Cyndaquil trying to camouflage itself on the green meadow. Nivia laughed out loud at the Pokemon's silliness. "You silly Cyndaquil, you can't hide on green grass when your back is blue. It just doesn't work that way."

Blaze stood up, embarrassed. There were few things more embarrassing than being caught while trying to hide. He had been worried at first, but these two Pokemon seemed to mean no harm to him. Still he found it somewhat strange that a Dewgong would be carrying another Pokemon around... He decided he would ask about that. As for that other Pokemon, he had no idea what it was.

"...So, where are you to off to in such a hurry?" he said quietly, unable to think of anything else to say.

He looked down at the handkerchief at his feet, seeing the Oran berry nestled inside. He gladly took hold of it with his front legs and fell back into a sitting position with his back two and began to nibble on the berry with his small mouth while he waited for an answer. He suddenly remembered why he was out so far from the woods and looked back at the trees nervously. That wind hadn't been natural, and he was afraid that whatever it was might still be after him.

"Oh. And by the way, I don't think it would be a bad idea for us to hurry." About to leave to the mountains Yuki almost forgot her food supplies, and went to the rock hiding the hole where her berries were. She didn't care if she got injured by the Spikes around because she'll just eat a berry when she gets them. She was also thinking of how she got her from the mountains, so she may just follow the steps back. Lets see, after the mountains I went home, got the food, and head here, but I bet if we follow the river we'll get near my old home and go from there. After she got the berries she realized with the addition of the new berries she picked she would not be able to carry all the berries. She then turned to Sawk and ask, "If it won't be too much trouble, could you take a few of these berries, I seem to have more than I can carry. As a reward, I can give you some berries in return."

"Well, we are fleeing something right now." Theo started. "I don't suppose you felt that terrible wind a bit earlier?" "Either way me and Lady Nivia here are traveling to uncover my past and get her back to her home. " Theo popped open the Brass Pocketwatch and showed it to the Cyndaquil. "This is all I have left and all I know of my prior life. My name is Theodore, but you call me Theo for short. Now if you don't mind me asking young one, what is your name?" he asked as he extended a small paw towards the Cyndaquil.

"All that dear Theo just told you is true. As for me," Nivia gestured to herself with one of her flippers, "My name is Nivia. My home happens to be Lilycove City, where I participate in beauty contests with my human partner, Celestia. I was celebrated and loved by all humans. However, I was, somehow, transported here in the middle of nowhere where I suddenly became the hunted and hated."

Seeing how nervous the little Cyndaquil is, Nivia decided to try and put his mind at ease. She drifted to the middle of the river and fired off a dazzling Aurora Beam towards the sky, showering the trio with the colors of the rainbow. The contest Pokemon then returned to her previous spot. "There now, no need to be afraid. We are not the cause of that nasty wind from the forest. After all, how can something that disgusting fire off something this pretty?"

Blaze put a leg up to meet Theo's paw.

"My name is... Blaze," he said as he stared in wonder at the rainbow light surrounding them. However, he couldn't enjoy it to it's fullest as his mind drifted back to the wind. Theo and Nivia said that they had felt it too. It was comforting to know that it was not targeting him specifically, but also unnerving to think that it had affected such a wide area.

"Are you both headed towards the mountain, too?" he asked the pair. "I'm trying to discover what happened on...that day." He cringed a little as he said the last part, memories coming back once more.

"It's nice to meet you, little Blaze." Nivia greeted politely. She frowned a little when he asked about the mountain though; the Dewgong recalled that Theo also mentioned this mountain but she hasn't been able to see it at all. Yet, her gut is telling her that this mountain is important; they have to find it, no matter what.

"Dear Theo has also mentioned this mountain while we were still in the forest. Unfortunately, I have not been able to see it due to the trees blocking my... limited view. Can you point us to the direction of this mountain? Then, I propose that we can all go there together and find the solutions to our unanswered questions. That is..." Nivia showed her tail, "If you don't mind traveling by the river due to my flippers. I promise I won't splash as much while you are with us."

Blaze raised a small arm further up the riverbank. "The mountain was downstream, last I saw," he said meekly. "It's a little farther inland, so you probably won't be able to see its peak for a little while more." He pointed at a large rock far up the riverside, a small beach reaching out to the water beside it. "If we get to there, it would be a close point to the mountain, and a good point to start travelling by land." He paused, looking at Nivia's flippers. "Well... if you don't mind... It's probably the closest you'll get by water."

A barren wind swept through the forest, wiping a wave of sand into Jessica's face. The woods had been strangely silent lately, but she didn't know whether she preferred the silence or the spooky noises. Jessica had not done much lately, mostly staying near the rock while living off whatever they could find and drinking water from the river, which tasted like the dust in the wind. Even the Pecha berries were bitter and dry...

Jessica sat down against the rock and dreamt of her past. Though she had never been truly happy, having to live like she lived now felt horrible. Was this her fate? Slakoth was calm, as he nearly always was. What was on his mind?

Lily turned her attention to the psionic presence. It was taunting her, challenging her. She again shouted out a telepathic challenge.

"You. Out there. Stop hiding and face me. Face me! Come!"

She focused and projected out a multitude of barriers, layering one over another, creating a phalanx of psychic energy.

"COME!"

As Jessica's thoughts turned to Perseus, he happened to look up at her and give her the same vacant stare he'd been giving to her for the past day or so. The Slakoth finally decided that enough was enough; they would have to find others soon, or they would die of exposure. Perseus mustered all the energy he could and stood up on his hind legs, then tapped Jessica on the shoulder and pointed toward the river.

Somewhere on a rocky, dried field situated at the foot of a few hills was perhaps a massive Viking funeral.

A dark-haired girl sat on the crumbly, dead soil with an Umbreon and a Houndoom, and looked up from writing on what appeared to be the back of a receipt to watch the tower of flames rise and fall, like a crazed gypsy dancing while reaching and leaping for the darkening sky.

"The end of the world had come. The end had come, and it has passed," mumbled Zephyr, reading, with uncertainty, the first line of the free-verse poem she had just attempted to write. Pensively, she stared into the burning inferno that she had her Houndoom create-- it was a habit and a precautionary step of hers to set fire to everything and everyone whom she killed. Nothing new, really. She'd been doing this for roughly half a year by now, for almost every night. Kill or BE killed.

Every bit of it had become boring and grey to her. Nothing about dodging blows and weapons, almost getting shot in the vitals, and in the end, subduing and destroying the rival groups was thrilling anymore. Even both her Pokemon seemed to have become accustomed to it all.

So, tonight, while awaiting her pick up and easy way back to the Base, she decided to attempt to emulate and understand what a certain madman in history felt whilst watching his city burn to the ground.

After a few more minutes of thought, she gave up entirely, crumpled up the receipt, and chucked it into the air. Her Umbreon had anticipated this, and, bored as well, leapt up and hit the ball of paper with its tail, propelling it towards the fire, where it crackled and popped. Then it rested on a nearby rock and continued to appear nonchalant.

The hellhound merely watched lazily from its spot and yawned.

Zephyr gazed restlessly up into the slowly sprawling blanket of dusk. "One hour, my foot. It took less than thirty minutes to infiltrate the building, sneak around for important stuff, be noticed, begin shooting to kill, proceed to loot, and set the entire complex on fire." She watched a bowl of flowers materialize a good ten feet above the ground and smash into pieces a few seconds later. Funny things like that happened everyday and she wasn't too bothered by it. Space and time weren't necessarily chaotic anymore, but that didn't mean it was entirely stable either.

On the other hand, she'd be separated from her Pokemon for several hours upon arriving at Base... And she didn't like leaving her only family in the hands of manic bastards for even a second.

Thus she became content with waiting for an hour, rather than having Umbreon fire a Signal Beam into the sky to signal that she ended early.

The presence doesn't approach. Instead, it moves to the edge of your senses, simply hovering there. Suddenly, it seems as if it is launching an attack. An invisible bolt of psychic energy flies at the multitude of barriers, but simply dissipates without any sort of real impact.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Amarantha started at Lily's mental shout. "Huh? What's going on? Is that thing causing this unnatural wind back or something?" She looked around with concern both for herself and the human. Most Pokemon with that sort of power wouldn't take kindly to a human in their midst.

Just then, Lily jumped up, as if to face a threat. It was possible she was saying something, but nothing Gale could hear. Lucky me, he thought. I can't understand her.
However, if this threat, which was stronger than him, posed a challenge to her, then it would be a great one for Gale.
"Alright! Let's get some action up in this joint!"
He jumped to his feet from some rubble, running over to Togepi.
"Ready, Amarantha? Lily can't do all the work. Plus you'll grow stronger from the experience. Let's kick some!" Gale pumped, too excited for conflict to question her take on the situation.

Slakoth pointed out the river, as if suggesting to leave. "So be it" Jessica mumbled. She took whatever food was left on the ground, picked up Slakoth after packing up and they started to travel upstream. That was not an easy task, however. Surviving and traveling weighed heavily on Jessica's mind as well as her body. If only there was some other way to go further. Maybe Slakoth had an idea...

Lily pinpointed the source of the psychic strike, locating it about 384m northwest.

She glanced down at the human and sent a cold warning.

"Protect Amarantha. If she dies, you die."

She braced herself against the ground and launched herself at her unseen opponent.
