What would you be doing if Pokemon was real?

Recommended Posts

As the title says, what would you do if pokemon was real?

Now I know the general answer would be "I'm gonna be a pokemon trainer and go on an adventure to battle gym leaders and take on the league", but not everyone would do that plus you need to be really confident in your battling skills to do that and realistically speaking could you even live on that? I'm not saying that's not a valid answer but this isn't some fantasy world where 10 year olds get to go on an adventure with their pokemon (your parents most likely won't allow that), I mean where would you get your money? you need to eat and your pokemon need to eat plus whenever you take them to the pokecenter you have to pay their medical bills (unless you're famous or a gym leader or something like that and have sponsors or the goverment to cover it OR your country provides free medical service for your pokemon, I'm looking at you UK). Not to mention you have to actually take care of your pokemon not just leave them in their pokeballs (or risk getting sued by PETA lol).

So what would you be? are you going to train hard and try to be the Gym Leader for your area? or perhaps participate in pokemon contests like May and Dawn? or train your pokemon to be poke-athletes and participate in the Pokeathlon? or even be a pokemon doctor or a pokemon researcher the possibility are endless...or even continue to live your life as normal as if nothing happened.

For me I would continue my University studies and become a travelling writer along with my Pokemon companions. I would get paid writing about my adventures and encounters and stories about the people I've met and places I've been to as well as try to uncover the mysteries of the pokemon world. At the same time I would also try and challenge Gym Leaders and perhaps even enter the League (though I doubt this as I'm not that great at competitive battling). I would have Pokemon not only to protect me but as my companions and I would battle mainly for fun.

But that's just me, so what would you do? I'm interested in reading what you guys come up with (>‿‿◕).

At first, I thought I would want to challenge the league and all that good stuff and become the best there ever was...But, I've been thinking....

In this realistic world of pokemon...I imagine things being more like a Nuzlocke challenge, because in the REAL world, life forms don't take high amounts of pain and just walk away "fainted", they get serious, possibly life-threatening injuries. Thinking like this, I would be afraid to capture Pokemon and battle seriously competitive like I do online....I doubt I could ever bear seeing one of my precious Pokemon getting badly injured, or even die, because of a dumb mistake I made.....

Thus, if Pokemon ever become real...I would find a few companions, and just live a life similar to what I do in real life now.....Maybe I'll battle from time to time....but even if I would, they would just be for fun, and not something serious like a League challenge or whatever....But things may change...It all depends on how everything works out, I guess...

Interesting thought though I think there would be a limit or safety precaution and Pokemon in competitive battling won't battle 'to the death' just like in wrestling or boxing they don't fight till one of them dies but until one of them is knocked out and unable to battle or throws the match. That said, pokemon battling would be very much different as you have flamethrowers, hydro pumps, ice beam and thunderbolts so yeah it would be possible for them to die in a serious match.

Well, there's the theory that Pokemon are energy beings, so they would be able to recover and resist injury more readily than real animals, I think. I'd probably be a breeder, though. Get to spend all day taking care of animals that are remarkably intelligent, and maybe get into training if the Pokemon wanted to battle.

i would catch pokemon i like and train them then battle, beat leagues, catch 'em all with them then become pokemon master and then beat ash ketchum

That last part wouldn't be hard.

I'd travel and train for a year or two after saving up for the trip after working for a breeder. I'd catch most of Pokemon while working there before I travel. After traveling, I'd work towards becoming the champion.

I would join an evil syndicate--preferably Team Rocket or Team Magma--And slowly rise through the ranks of the team. Honestly, I just think it sounds more fun to be 'evil' than it does to be 'good'. And y'know, should some audacious cop try to arrest me, my Chandelure will be their to steal their soul.

I much prefer the whole energy beings thing. Didn't Oak or someone say something about Pokemon becoming healthier by battling? Like even if they lose? It's like they have to battle. It's part of what keeps them going and makes them alive.

But yeah, I'd probably be a coordinator/breeder, and I would take my Glaceon and my Venusaur with me everywhere I went. :3

  • 2 weeks later...

I'd probably go into Pokemon research, maybe compete in contests on the side, with my trusty one or two companions.

Although, if this new Pokemon world were like it is in the games, and trainers had to battle when they made eye contact, my Pokemon and I would be screwed.

(I'd probably wear shades and avoid looking at anyone, living my whole life in the shadows...)

I had a nightmare about this once. I ran out of room in all of my boxes for my countless eggs and ended up having to hoard them in my house. Eventually I had no more room for them all there and moved them to the backyard. Other pokemon began to eat the unhatched eggs as they all started to decay over time. Eventually there were too many eggs and I had become so unhappy by all of the pokemon that were essentially dying because of my endless pursuit of the perfect pokemon and I began to care less and less. Eventually I achieved my perfect pokemon and by that time I had become so evil, cruel and degenerate that I no longer cared. I started to work on the next pokemon and the love my original perfect pokemon had began to fade for me as it saw me caring so much more about my next. When I finally made the second in the now dead/dying egg wasteland that looked much like the wastelands in the game. So the old perfect pokemon killed the new perfect pokemon and then me. Yeah.

I'd be a Day-Care man. I'd get me a bunch of Ditto, get them to have a little fun with whatever strolls by, and over-price the eggs I sell so I can be the richest man in the world.

OK, I'm kidding, I'm not a complete dick. Seriously speaking, I'd probably get a job (if that's even possible for me to do) so I can save up a crap load of money, making sure to keep my Pokémon in prime condition and ready to battle all the while. Then, once I finally have the funds (and the courage) I'd go out on a journey to beat the Pokémon League with my partners. Chances are I wouldn't ever win the league being realistic, I make stupid mistakes when I feel pressured or get too big-headed, so in other words, the vast majority of the time. That wouldn't stop me from aiming high though. It's not like I'd put in all that effort to earn money so I can actually show my Pokémon the world and make them strong just so I can whine about losing and give up after my first loss. I won't say I'd be the best, but I'd be the best that I can be when it comes to battling. The way I live now isn't really ideal, because all I do is sit around all day playing games, and while that's not a bad lifestyle, it's also not a healthy one, so that journey would definitely do me good.

Oh, and me and my partners would save people too. I don't really care much about people I don't know, and while my reasons for saving them may be for my own satisfaction rather than theirs, it's still the right thing to do at the end of the day. I wouldn't want to bathe in glory as a hero, or become famous. I'd just be satisfied with knowing that I could become a person that I've always desired to be. I've always wanted to be like a hero. Not a super-hero, just a hero. Flexible, agile, smart, can do "flips-n-shit," that sort of thing. My Pokémon would have to be pretty powerful too if they were to save people from wild ones or thugs such as a real life Team Rocket (fuck knows what kind of name they'd come up with for that.) It's not a bad thing by any means. You'd be extremely talented, you'd look fucking cool, and your Pokémon would be amazing. That's 3 things in one package that would definitely not look bad for any trainer. Unless you're a trainer like Fern or Blue/Green/Douchebag/Asshat/GaryMFOak. Then you'd just look like a total chode for trying to boost your ego even more.
