Help with updater

Recommended Posts

Currently using V13.5 but was told to update it to version 13.5.6 to be able to get black prisms. whenever I try running the updater, I get this: "Error: open Data/PkmnAnimations.rxdata: Access is denied."
How do I fix this? would love to get an answer asap. thanks in advance

Open the terminal and run "ls -l" (on Windows use the PowerShell rather than the traiditional cmd console if possible, but if the cmd console is all you have, run 'dir /q' instead) in the directory "Data" inside Rejuv's install directory. Post the output.

Spoiler

'ls' is the 'List Storage' Unix command, which lists all the files in the current working directory. How's it relevant? Linux is a clone of Unix, and MacOS is a true Unix that descends from the original AT&T Unix. The '-l' flag makes it show additional information on the files, such as ownership and permissions.

The 'dir' command is the DOS equivalent of ls, and I don't think I need to tell you that Windows descends from MSDOS. The '/q' flag makes it show file ownership information.

You should use PowerShell as the terminal on Windows 10 or later. You don't need to run it as admin.

Beyond that, I can't help much because I'm just so unfamiliar with the platform. I heared somewhere you can just type 'cmd' in the file manager's top bar to open the cmd console on that directory. Probably writing 'pwsh' or 'powershell' should do the same, if not, you can still use the cmd, but you need to run 'dir /q' instead of 'ls -l'.

I did all that (or atleast, did what I thought I was supposed to do) but all I keep getting is a bunch of errors in powershell. what should I do now?

Posting the errors would be a start, but I don't think I can really help you: I haven't touched Windows in years, and the first step of learning Linux is unlearning Windows.

No, unfortunately my knowledge of the community doesn't go that deep.

But you should have posted this thread under Troubleshooting instead of Discussions.
