[Anti Lead]
[Kabutops] (M/F) @ [Focus Sash]
Trait: [Battle Armor/Swift Swim]
EVs: [252 Atk/252 Speed/ 4 HP]
[Nature] Jolly
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Aqua Jet
- Stone Edge

[Even before the advent of Drizzle below Ubers, Kabutops has been commonly used as a fearsome rain sweeper. A moderately fast, powerful Water type physical attacker with access to Swords Dance becomes quite powerful under Rain(due to Swift Swim), however that's not all Kabutops can do. It is one of the Pokemon that has access to both Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin, giving it an interesting niche as an anti lead. Aside from those moves, a powerful STAB Stone Edge is selected to inflict heavy damage to any fragile leads such as Thundurus. Aqua Jet is also available to finish off sashed enemies that would normall crumble to Stone Edge. In any case, against any matchup you must have knowledge of the opposing lead's options, so you can counter accordingly. Knowing who's faster is also key; remember that you have 80 base speed, which is admittedly not amazing. To help compensate, we run 252 Speed EVs with Jolly, if you want Adamant is possible. Do not value Kabutops too highly. His role with this set is to disrupt the enemy lead, and lay Stealth Rock. None of Kabutops' abilities are that key to this set. Anti-crit isn't really that useful; you have a sash so it's likely any moderately powerful Pokemon can 2HKO you if they so desire. Swift Swim is useful against Drizzle teams; but useless otherwise, as this Kabutops functions poorly outside of lead position; thus it's not practical to set up Rain with a Politoed and then go back to Kabutops. Weak Armor has the most potential; agaisnt a faster opponent it can allow you to get off an extra move if they attack you. Only problem is, it's a Dream World ability; and Stealth Rock is a 4th Gen exclusive TM. In other words, they can't go together.]
