Bullet
[Sub Roost] Articuno @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Ice Beam - Roost - Substitute - Toxic [Classic Sub Roost Articuno from Gen IV NU that still works. EVs are plain and simple, maximum speed, HP that lets you come in on rocks twice and live, which is crucial, and the last 8 EVs are mainly filler. It's simple, sub up, Toxic stall. Ice Beam works for threatening Pokemon weak against it, just hitting them with it, and hitting Taunt Pokemon, as well as Whimsicott. It's pretty simple to use. Although the EVs let you live Stealth Rock twice, a spinner or Magic Bouncer is recommended as a team mate regardless.]
DrMudkip
Ditto what Bullet said, this moveset is self explanatory, First, using Toxic is a good idea to get some HP outta your opponent's Pokemon and stalling, Second, using Ice Beam works well with Pokemon that are not effective against Ice types, hitting them once or twice might defeat one Pokemon, but when a Fire type or a Fighting type comes, it's time to use substitute, or roost, knowing that Fire or Fighting types pack massive damage, so I prefer giving Articuno a Focus Sash if you want to hang on..well, that's all.. Bullet
Sub kind of defeats the purpose of sash, and vice-versa...
Neo
THIS IS A GEN 1 SET. DO NOT ASK ABOUT ITEMS OR EVS! Articuno @ (No Item) - Substitute - Toxic - Whirlwind - Ice Beam
This is a variation of my Venomoth set. The Toxic and Whirlwind combo not only prevents the opponent from setting up, but it makes sure that you're able to whittle down the opposing team before they can do some serious damage. After you've screwed with the opposing team enough, you're ready to sweep with that amazing 348 Special. Your opponent is going to have the time of their life trying to take this thing out. He's bulky as fuck, and has the ability to turn the phazing into a sweep. Have fun pissing off a lot of people.
The same thing applies. Shanco
The Art-icuno Of Killing In Cold Blood Articuno @ Leftovers / Focus Sash Trait: Pressure / Snow Cloak EVs: 216 HP / 40 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Mind Reader - Sheer Cold - Ice Beam / Hurricane - Roost Articuno's movepool is crap, but at least it has the benefits of decent defenses and a niche as a sure-hit OHKO'er. Mind Reader sets up your next attack to hit unless they switch, and that includes Sheer Cold. With hazards up you'll have them sweating buckets, forcing them to make difficult decisions. Hurricane is my choice over Ice Beam for an attacking move, but in reality you are just using it for breaking Substitutes and fending off more frail sweepers. Roost keeps the ice chicken in battle for a longer period of time. Use Leftovers for recovery, or Focus Sash to surprise slower Pokemon like Rampardos. Jory
LOL YOU CAN'T HIT ME (Arctic Articuno) Articuno @ Brightpowder/Life Orb Trait: Snow Cloak EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid/Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Atk)/(+Spd, -Def) - Hurricane - Blizzard - U-Turn - Hidden Power Ground Basically, you're trying to KO before you get KO'd. Snow Cloak and Brightpowder help with this, but Life Orb is viable for extra damage. EVs are standard offensive spread with 4 in SDef because fuck Heatran. Hail support is a necessity, as well as hazard support in order to net important OHKOs. Blizzard gets 100 accuracy in Hail, which makes it an awesome move for Articuno. Hurricane is there to hit those fighting types with big dommage, but watch out for that abysmal accuracy. U-Turn is for pivoting and not damage, so don't worry about that. Hidden Power Ground is there for pesky Fire types like Heatran (because Heatran is NU :) ).
