Sutoratosu
Today is the day. You walked out of your door this morning and headed out to the local Recruitment center, Joined by many others. You're all left standing in the Plaza out front for a long while, Then finally, A Military Officer steps out of the center's wide double doors, and announces that the Recruitment process is now open. You are all told the form Eight Lines. There is surprisingly far less chaos as the direction is followed than one would expect in a crowd of so many people. The procedure is under way, person after person walks up to the Booths assigned to their lines, Answering the Questions asked by the Officers sitting behind them, then undergoing a thorough background check. Some see this first step in the process and leave the line, knowing that their personal history will prevent them from even setting foot in the doors. many seem to fail to correctly answer the questions and are turned away at the booth, their heads down as they exit the Plaza. but every now and again, a person is handed a small card and then walks to the doors and enters the building. Finally, it is your turn to step up to the booth. The Officer asks for your government issued civilian ID card. Satisfied that all is in order on that part, they instruct you place your palm on the screen embedded in the face of the desk, hold for five seconds, then remove it. You do as you're told, and a moment later, the display on the screen pulls up a comprehensive summary of your personal and legal history. The Officer checks the display twice, as is procedure. Satisfied that nothing in the report raises any redflags, he nods to you, then reaches into a compartment inside the booth. he hands you a freshly printed white paper card with your name, photo, age and a bar code on it, a small green check mark lies in the upper left corner. You are told to proceed to the doors and show the Card to the scanner beside them. You walk inside. Armed Guards in full fatigues with the insignia of the U.S. Army corps on their arms line the large entry chamber. A large central counter and office space takes up a third of the chamber, you walk over to it. The Officers standing behind say nothing, simply taking your card a holding it under an unseen device behind the counter. A small slot in the Counter opens. A data key card pops out, with a number on the face of it. You're handed the new card and then Escorted by a guard down a long corridor exiting from the left of the chamber, and to a room corresponding with the number on the card. A large table sits in the middle of the room, many embedded screens in the table glow bright against the darkened air. There are a few others sitting in various chairs around the table. You yourself are guided to a chair and take a seat. The screen prompts for you to place both palms on the screen. It glows a bright blue as it scans your palms, confirming who you are. The screen fades to black, then a new window is displayed, showing a long personality test. You answer all of the multiple choice questions. The screen glows blue, A processing screen appears, then the word Approved. the screen fades to black again, this time it appears to be so black that if you were to lean forward a little, you'd be sucked into a void. Five blazing white words appear on the screen, highly contrasted by the inky blackness of the background: VENTURE DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE? Instructions appear at the bottom of the screen, in much smaller, but still blazing white letters. Yes? Place both palms on the screen. No? Then get up, leave the room, and do not ever return to participate again. You place your palms on the screen. It fades in to a white window. a single prompt appears: it's a confidentiality agreement, with the presidential seal on the bottom. Herein, you will hereby swear to withhold all confidential and/or classified information that is distributed to you, and that you understand that unless approved by the Office of the President of the United States, no other undesignated person, persons, groups, assemblies, or third parties may be allowed access of any type to classified data. You will also hereby swear that your participation is entirely made of your own free will, without coercement from any outside persons or party. sign your name (state the characters full name, In the Format "I (insert name) hereby accept these conditions") //OOC: General narration will appear in either yellow or ornage text// Edited October 17, 2014 by Surge

Flux
Lars looked hesitantly at the screen. "This could get to be kind of irritating..." he thought. Then he remembered the strange rumors he'd heard. "I can't resist a little fun," he said resignedly. He quickly signed his name with a grin. "I, Lars Kaiser, Hereby accept these conditions." Chevaleresse
He considered the paper before him. Odd that I'd have to sign another of these damn things, but hey, it can't be a whole lot more binding than what I've got going. I, Nathan Gray, hereby accept these conditions. Sutoratosu
Erick stared down at the screen, reading the contract over to ensure he wasn't missing anything. I will do what it takes to find that thing. When I finally corner it, I'll kill the damn monster with my bear hands. The thought came at the same moment that he pressed his index finger to the embedded screen, using it to sign the agreement "I, Erick Angelo Freeman, Hereby accept these conditions" Edited April 1, 2014 by Legendaries tamer
Arkhi
Where others seemed irritated and bored with the process going into the screenings, Keaton was solemn the whole time. Any steps out of line and he would surely be removed. That would not do him nor his family any good. Besides, the authority would be incredibly displeased with him, and that would be abhorrent. When he arrived what seemed to be the final room, he ran through a test, coming to the final contract. Sign your name.Keaton looked around, seeing a few others looking seeing focused eyes. He looked down. "Can't stand out.." he murmured. As with all his official documents, Keaton was a good citizen and signed with his legal name. I, Adam MacMillan, hereby accept these conditions. Jory
Jory sighed in relief as the final screen appeared. He was never a fan of standardized tests. They were all just the same boring format and the end result was always a good mark for him, even if he didn't deserve it. Huh... Confidential? Isn't that just a fancy word for "too awesome to reveal to the populace?" Jory smiled. I, Jory Robertson, hereby accept these conditions.
Sutoratosu
*meanwhile, in Washington D.C.* Surge sat across from Dr.Ray at his desk, watching the screen on the wall as it slowly filled with names, one by one they faded onto the screen, each one with a comprehensive profile that had been generated upon the system's approval of the applicant. Ray read out the names on the screen to Surge as they appeared "Lars Kaiser" "Nathan Gray" "Erick A. Freeman" "Adam MacMillan" "Jory Robertson" With the calling of each name, a copy of each individual report was downloaded onto Surge's Data Card Surge looked at Ray "Are you kidding me? That's only five men, Ray. out of all those who are bound to be taking the recruitment, you can only find me five?" Ray leaned back in his chair, the names had momentarily stopped appearing on screen. "Calm yourself, Serg." he put his feet up on his desk, just then more names began appearing on screen "See, there's more of them now." Surge returned his attention to the screen. "Look at how low we've come. at the point where we have to look to the private sector to find members for a group such as this." Ray took his feet down and leaned forward, a look of indifference on his face. "Need I remind you, Matthew, that you, along with every other current member of the armed services, were civilians once, and will return to that status as soon as your career in this military ends." Surge shoot him a quick sideways glance, mumbling to himself. "and we especially don't need cocky civilian scientist..." "What was that Sergeant? "Nothing, just clearing my throat. Continue with the names." Dr.Ray turned back to face the screen, and began calling the names that appeared next... *back to the signing* Edited April 2, 2014 by Legendaries tamer
Maddie
“So sick of this” she though as she flew over the confidentiality agreement, barely even reading it. She had spent the day either waiting or placing her hands on suspicious scanners, so she didn’t even care anymore. The last thing to do was signing the contract, which she promptly did. I, Enyo Greyjoy, hereby accept these conditions. Edited April 4, 2014 by Maddie
Ragnar
Sid was shock when he got pass through the background check and started doubting. He mumbled in his mind "something was off here" there he slowly approaches the table observing these people on the table like "what the hell are these people thinking? they have a good life ahead off them, like i have a choice this was the only way to escape the slums" as the contract signing takes place... he grin and without hesitation signed it with the mindset of collecting those spoils of war first hand. I, Sid Maelstrom, hereby accept these conditions.
Ojama Yellow
Lionel saw the final screen appear. However, as he stood there, he began having doubts. Is this really the best decision? As he saw other people in the room looking at him because he took so long, he pulled himself together. There is nothing left for me to return to. And this might be my only chance to be reunited with my sister. "I, Lionel Carter, hereby accept these conditions." There, now it's done. No way back for me... Supernovae
Clint flicked his cigarette and walked up to the screen and firmly placed one hand on it... "How do you work this damned thing?" Clint mumbled to himself before he started frantically smacking the screen. Eventually, by some coincidence Clint happened to place both hands on the screen. After reading the passage Clint finally signed I, Clint Cannon, Hereby do except these conditions. Chim
Logan stared at the screen. He only came here beause he was looking for a new challenge and those weird creatures looked interesting, but he didn't expect a test right off the bat. It didn't take long before his concentration left him. He became restless and started clicking answers without reading everything. Come on, how long does this test take? He expected that he had failed the test and was about to leave the room, when instructions appeared. Without completely reading them, he signed. I, Logan Walker, Hereby accept these conditions. Sutoratosu
The Screen fades to black once again. A panel pops out of a slot in the table, and slides forward to cover the screen. Without even realizing it, You've been surrounded by Armed Guards. you are escorted to the garage of the building and into an old military jeep. You're driven back to your place of living, and told to pack a single bag with personal belongings. You are allotted twenty minutes. Having packed a bag, you are again escorted into the jeep, this time it drives back to the Recruitment Center. You are guided up to the roof where a lone helicopter awaits on a helipad. As soon as you are aboard, the Pilot activates the vehicle, and you take off into the air. Several hours are spent in the Chopper as it flies over the land, just as the sun is setting, you reach a massive forest, the Rocky mountains can be seen looming in the distance. you notice that the Chopper appears to be landing. At first you assume that the pilot intends to land in the middle of the forest, but then the air craft shudders, and the patch of thick vegetation you were staring out of the window at vanishes, replaced by a large structure, it's lustrous white walls lit up and seemingly blazing in the light of the setting sun, a large plaza lies just outside the buildings massive gates, and a set of massive twin spires pokes far above the treetops. Around the magnificent structure lies several smaller buildings, Barracks, Storage Facilities, Generator housings, and guard towers, just to name a few of the buildings, all of the incredible compound is encircled in a glorious White Stone wall, shimmering with energy, from certain angles, you think that you can even see right through it to the dense forest beyond. The chopper descends and lands on a expansive helipad just behind the Compound. The Guards accompanying you escort you out and onto the tar mat. You notice in the waning light that there are several other Choppers already on the tar mat. Each one with a single person along with three guards in fatigues standing on the tar mat in front of it. the Rev of an engine is heard as a Large covered troop transport pulls onto the center of the tarmat, reversing and adjusting itself so that the back of the Truck faces the Choppers. two soldiers in full black step out, Walk to the back of the vehicle, and throw open the heavy green flaps that hang off the covering, obscuring the view of the back. A lone figure stands in the back of the Truck, his face hidden in shadow... Surge Squinted when the flaps of the back of the truck were thrown aside, flooding his vision with the light of the setting sun. He stood there for but a few seconds afterword, mentally taking Roll of those civilians on the Tar mat as he glanced at each of them in turn. Erick Freeman... Major Stan Freeman's son. Haven't seen the kid since the Major's Funeral. Something seems... Off about him, something just under the surface. I'll be sure to keep an eye on that one. Lars Kaiser... The jester and a rebel. I'm going to be having a looong talk with who ever the hell passed him on the selection... Adam MacMillan... The appeaser who barely says anything despite opening his mouth alot... Nathan Gray... A fellow service man. And even more, he's former airforce. shouldn't have too many issues from him... Jory Robertson... another joker type... That intellect of his'll be useful though; if, that is, he can actually follow through on his convictions for once... Enyo Greyjoy... the lone female in the group. That lone wolf attitude is gonna cause some issues... Sid Maelstrom... the orphan turned street thug turned man looking for a fresh start... Some where, there is a service man who's going to be having a very, very bad chat with General McCarthy... Logan Walker...Strong silent type. good memory... shouldn't have any problems down the road. And Clint Cannon... The Truant and Procrastinator... Somewhere, another service man is also going to have a chat with the General... Lionel carter... don't expect any issues there... Surge leaped out of the back, landing several feet in front of the guards in black. "Soldiers, Atteeeention!!! Front and center!!!" The words had barely finish leaving his mouth when all of the guards in fatigues began sprinting forward, standing at full attention as soon as they reached him. they stood shoulder to shoulder, forming a small wall of military fatigues and red berets, the barrel of their assault rifles grasped firmly in their hands, the butt of the assault rifles resting on the toe of their boots. "Your mission is complete, you are dismissed!" The soldiers saluted, then each group of them returned to the Chopper they rode in on. "Civilians, Step forward!!" Not wanting to cause an issue, you each step forward, Surge stands just a few feet in front of you. "Load into the transport Vehiiiicllle!!!!" You each step forward and get into the back of the truck, taking seats on the benches lining the inner space. Surge turned to the two guards, then simply nodded and walked around to the passenger side door and got in the cab. The Guards in black loaded onto the truck. The Truck begins to move. Several moments later, you feel the truck come to a stop. The two guards riding in the back with all of you get back out, then pull back the flaps. the truck is parked outside a barracks. You all get out. Surge is waiting in front of the door to the building. He orders you to line up, you all comply. He opens the door and orders everyone inside. He stands back in the door, looking on as each of you choose a bunk. "Lights out is at 22:00 hours! it is 18:30 hours now. Get settled and get to know each other,I'll be back at 19:00 to escort you to the mess hall for dinner." Surge steped out of the door with that, and closed it. Damn you RAY... I know you had a hand in this groups configuration... It seems that you're trying to piss me off... In fact, it's time for a chat... with that thought, Surge walks off towards the majestic white building, the two guards in black trailing behind him as the transport truck pulls away from the building, and helicopters take off in the distance, setting a course to return home. Chevaleresse
Nathan looked around the room, quickly taking in his surroundings. It was pretty standard fare, as barracks went. Nathan then turned his attention to the others in the room with him. "Name's Nathan Gray. Airman First Class, at least until I transferred here." He moved over to one of the bunks near the back corner of the building, and chose the lower one. "Since we're not being assigned bunks, this'll be mine, unless anyone's got an issue with it." The pilot directed a challenging gaze about the room, almost daring someone to contest his choice. Guy called me a civilian. A civilian! He dismissed his annoyance and threw himself onto the bunk, and proceeded to pull his socks off.
Sutoratosu
Erick sat down on his bunk in the corner of the room, barely paying attention as an outburst came from the other side of the room, some Guy called Nathan trying to start stuff. "not even five minutes here, and already people are starting to establish themselves as the Alpha dogs of the group..." Ethic reached under the bunk and took out the Guitar he packed in his bag, it was small compared to the average acoustic guitar, but still took most of the room in his bag. that was alright though, he didn't need to take much with him anyway. he began strumming it idly. "They'll be in for a rude awakening when Surge shows them just who that really is..." he began to make up lyrics to himself. (to the rhythm of "What does the fox say?") "The world went wild, no order," "Massive fighting in the streets," "Fires blazed and society was off it's feet," "but then they came, with batons, and riot shields... Shooting tear gas through the air," "Then we knew, what this all was..." "It was Martial Law!" Edited April 3, 2014 by Legendaries tamer
Supernovae
Clint sat on the bunk in the far back of the room paying the other recruits no mind. Instead he was trying to get his head around the idea of military time. "Lights out at 22:00? What the hell does that mean?" Clint thought to himself, "Not like it matters or nothin', everyone knows I ain't had a bed time since I was a baby and no military suit gonna tell me otherwise." Clint smirked to himself and reached down into his bag to grab a cigarrette when he finally noticed that Erick was singing. Clint began to say something to him then quickly changed his mind. "Some freaks ain't worth botherin' with." Clint thought to himself as he started to walk outside of the bunker. Jory
Jory, a young man wearing a navy blue zip-up hoodie, a red t-shirt with a jolly roger on it, and dark jeans made a beeline for the rear of the barracks and took the last bottom bed on the right. Hmm... So we've got a half hour till dinner, huh? Jory unslung his duffel bag from his shoulder and slid it under the metal bunk bed. He mentally took stock of all the things he'd brought with him, shaking his head at the sheer speed that things had happened today. One moment he was being screened for who-knows-what and the next he was at some secret military base. Some other guy had taken a bunk near Jory and gone outside, presumably to have a cig. Another man, one with military bearing, was also bunking in the back of the building, on the bed next to Jory's. Better now than later... Jory thought to himself. "Hey, uh... Airman means you were in the Air Force, right? Why'd you transfer?" he asked the man who was laying on the bunk near him. Sutoratosu
Erick stopped playing when he saw a man shoot him a look before moving to the door. "That look, I've seen it once before... That was a subtle declaration of war." well, looks like there was a hole in the system, this fool looks like street scum to me... He considered saying that, he knew that in that glance, the guy had been thinking of something nasty to say. But the other guy had refrained from starting something verbally, so Erick decided that he wouldn't try to, but if he did by accident? Oh well then. As the man got closer to the door, Erick chuckled silently himself. This guy, He honestly thinks that the barrack's door is going to be left unlocked? What does he think Surge is, An Idiot? then he remembered that out of all these people, he was most likely the only one who had actually met the Officer who directed them in here prior to coming here. he decided to save the guy a lot of trouble and questions he probably wouldn't be able to answer, as well as put an end to the war that had began silently just moments ago, leaving his Guitar on the bed and walking up to an empty bunk by the door, just behind the other man as he was about to turn the handle. "It won't open for you. All the doors of any Army Barrack constructed after the outbreak has a system that allows a C.O. to lock in his soldiers for the night. Works by the handle reading their fingerprints." Erick should've stopped at that, gone back to his bunk, but he decided to push a little further. "It can also detect when someone meant to be kept in the barrack tries to open the door while the systems activated. buddy, you turn that handle, and You'll be sitting in an interrogation room somewhere, being asked a lot questions that you probably wouldn't want to answer." Erick didn't wait for a reaction. he started walking back to his bunk. He had dealt with a few Street thugs in the past, and he knew a few things about how they react to certain stimuli. He figured that the guy would either sit down or come and take a swing at him, either way, he didn't care, in both cases the conflict that had been started by that silent glare would be resolved. Supernovae
Clint, jumped back after hearing this and whipped around to see who had just stopped him. To his utter shock it was non-other than the whack-job who had just been singing a few minutes ago. "Man who is this fruit loop?" Clint muttered to himself baffled at what he had presumed to be a nutjob's, impressive knowledge of the subject. "Nah, it's not worth it, besides the kid's just trying to help and I really need this gig." Clint gently placed his hand on the interrupter's shoulder, "Thanks for the good look, kid," Clint said with a genuine look on his face and a twinkle in his eye, "Name's Clint, but most of the boys just call me Eastwood, ya know cause of the dude in those movies." Clint kept talking never quite sure when to shut his mouth, "Most of the ladies just call me magic, cause well ya know." Clint then started strolling back to his bunk and casually laid down while looking for something. "Ah, here she is," Clint said as he pulled out an e-cigarrette. "Never come unprepared, that's what my gramps used to tell me," He said as he took a long drag from the electronic cigarrette, "One-hundred percent water vapor, totally safe and legal to smoke indoors," Clint repeated from some add he had become familiar with as he took another drag. "Say kid, you gotta name or somethin'?" Clint then asked as he sat back up and looked at the guy who stopped him from walking outside.
Sutoratosu
Erick was laughing triumphantly on the inside as he was walking away, thinking that the conflict had taken the peacefull route of resolution. Then the other guy had touched his shoulder as he walked away, and Erick thought that this meant that violence would be the solution after all, but the blow he was expecting and preparing to counter never came. He restrained everything in him that Shouted "Pre-emptive Strike! Pre-emptive Strike!" and turned to look the other man in the eyes. He knew the moment his eyes met the other man's that this war had just ended in a peace treaty. That's weird, I usually am right about people... Erick split his attention between absorbing what the Other man, Clint, as he learned his name was, said, and studying Clint's body langauge and analyzing his tone of voice. No, I'm only partially wrong on this one, he's from the streets, but he isn't scum. Clint walked back to his bunk and pulled out what seemed to be an Electronic cigaret, saying how his gramdfathers motto was to never be unprepared. Ethic walked back to his own bunk, which he now noticed wasn't that far from Clint's. He heard Clint ask his name. "Erick A. Freeman." he said simply "If your from Richmond, you might've heard of my Father." that was an understatement. everyone from the Richmond Area had known or heard about his father. Major Stan Freeman, Commander of the 7th Patrol unit and retainer of a reputation for getting... Creative with the defense from the infected animals and transformed people. so creative that the news had run stories on him a few times since the outbreak began, and his methods for defense and fortification tactics were recorded and was currently being used by every Morpher Virus Patrol military unit in the country. or at least, he was all those things. Was Edited April 4, 2014 by Legendaries tamer
Chevaleresse
Nathan craned his neck upwards from his position laying on the bed to answer the other recruit's question. "Eh, a few reasons. Was never a big fan of my superior, and I had a couple . . . incidents . . . stopping me from getting any upward mobility. I was wondering what this was all about, too; they told us to watch for unusual hazards while flying, and it was implied it was connected to whatever this project is. Mostly, though, I was bored where I was at." He turned his head to face the one who had asked the question. "So how'd you end up here?"
Jory
Jory looked wistfully down at his backpack, then lifted his head up as the airman, Nathan, asked how he'd gotten there. "Well, I'm from New York. I went to university in Richmond, so it seemed logical for me to at least come out to the thing. With everything that's going on, I figured this has got to be one of the safest places I can be. But now I'm not so sure... I mean, look at some of the other recruits. It looks like they're taking just about everyone these days, myself included," he said as he took a small rubber ball out of his bag and began tossing it in his hand. "What do you think all this is about, anyway? The confidentiality agreement, the screening... It's all a bit weird to me," he said quietly, looking towards the doors. "We should keep our ears open, see what else we can figure out. Oh," he continued. "By the way, I'm Jory. Jory Robertson. Your name's Nathan, right?" Chevaleresse
"Good to meet you, Jory. And yeah, I'm Nathan. I wouldn't get too worked up over the screening; they've gotta be careful with this crap." With that, he let his head fall back down on the bunk. He had perfected the art of falling asleep almost instantly; it was a good skill to have when you might be flying eighteen hour missions back to back.
