Alright guys, I wanna ask you know who your favorite rival is. Or well, if you have multiple, who your favorite rivals are.

To me fighting a rival can always get enjoyable, depending on who the rival is and if he is at least a bit competent.

You know, the rivals you love to see on the screen and each time they pop up you´re all like

"Glad you´re here" or / and "I´mma kick yer ass, ye jerk!", because they´re your freaking rivals ;D

And then we have the ones who just outright annoy me, because their team is horrible, they themselves are bland and boring, they never fully evolve their starter or all three of the afore mentioned. Or you don´t think they´re good rivals for any other reason.

Vote your favorite / least favorite rival and share why you like / hate them so much ^.^"

My favorite rival is Blue, because he did what every good rival should do: He was a thorn by my side for the whole journey (well, sometimes not, but one or two times I found myself a bit cornered) and he was able to beat all the gym leaders.

That´s good already, but he went one step beyond and booted out the Elite Four and whoever was the champion at that time. He always was one step ahead of you and well, always was like "Ah, lost to you. Whatever. Smell ya later!"

I thought he was a jerk, which made it even more fun to me when I managed to kick his ass. And as a trainer, he wasn´t half-bad. At least not as bad as some other rivals. His team was well-balanced for a champion, as it should be.

And his team isn´t that good these days, but in his team were a few good pokemon from the first gen. As a rival and for someone who JUST became champion, he isn´t that bad ;)

And he´s also memorable, maybe that´s why I like him as well :D

Worst one to me is Brendan or May. Both are horrible rivals. A tad bit too friendly and well, they aren´t really good. A rival doesn´t have to be a jerk, but to be considered a rival he/she should be almost my equal at something >__>

Their team MAY be a bit balanced, but this doesn´t change the fact that they´re at a level that isn´t really threatening at all.

They seem both pretty bland to me too, and they give up being your rival and never evolve their starter to the end? (C´mon, two more levels and you´d have a Blaziken/Sceptile/Swampert. Then I´d take ya more seriously xD)

I also think they´re not memorable at all, not that this is a bad thing. I don´t wanna remember characters with the personalities of a wooden stick anyway ;P

I only played until gen 5.

Favorite: Brendan / May because they don't bother you all the time.

Least favorite: Cheren and Bianca. They annoy me for some reason, especially Bianca.

My favourite is May, because I like the idea of a friendly rivalry better than proving time after time to some inflated ego jerk that you're better than him... But Gary actually was a good character, so I voted Barry as my least favourite because, well, I played Diamond two years ago and can't even remember him very well.

As a last thought, I think if you added Reborn's rivals the results would be quite different.

I liked Silver. He actually had an interesting character, though he suffers a little bit from his personality copying Blue's to an extent.

Least favorite was Hugh, mostly because he was like a less interesting version of Blue with a shitty catchphrase. ("Just so you know . . . You're about to feel my rage!")

Fav: May. I herald from Hoenn, so it's a natural answer. Plus, the rival isn't a stuck-up person.

Least: Serena. No, Serena, I don't want to make friends with everyone and don't care if the enemy to Earth's safety starts tearing up. Just, no.

Dunno why, but I like Fern :D Maybe I just like jerks being my rivals, probably just me.

But I love Cain, especially his innuendos he drops from time to time ^^"

Rivals, they don't make them like they used to. Gary, even by today, I can't deny he was the best rival in pokemon, nothing is more satisfying than putting an arrogant punk in their place. Least favorite is a tough one, most of them, are annoying and I see them as free EXP and money. I guess Barry because he was just annoying and he reminds me of my annoying cousin,

My favourite surprisingly enough (apparently) is Barry. I enjoyed his fast paced vibe and all of the times he'd run out of a door straight into someone. Least favourite is Hugh, but only just over Tierno and Trevor. Those two are just forgettable but Hugh I found irritating and annoyingly weak with his (3 pokemon?) team.

Now into reborn rivals, my fav is pretty much Cain, for as overly homo and sometimes stupid as he may be, you can't deny that he's one hell of a badass through the story events.

Least fav from reborn: Fern gives the F word a whole new meaning and annoyance level.

Why? because he was the only one that I actually didn't won't to throw through a fucking window at any point in the respective game. I felt that he's got that mature sense of responsibility that almost all the other rivals lack (I mean, the biggest question the guy tries to answer on his journey is "what does it mean to be strong?")

Least Favorite: Wally

there was already a half decent Rival in the story line to crush with little actual effort in any battle against them...

But you... you were just... pathetic man...

I mean, I get that you've been sickly since you were like, an infant...

and that you're traveling to grow stronger both personally and physically...

now then, like with Cheren, I can respect such a goal...it's quite noble to me actually...

on top of that, you seemed like a nice enough guy... definately better than that Dick, Gary, or that Arrogant little prick, Silver...

But alas...

what I do not Respect, is when you Fucking Challenge ME...

At the Times when the LAST thing I could ever want is to be challenged to a battle because of having to trek through incredible amounts of shit prior (That little encounter at the end of Victory road in R/S/E)

and then you do not present a worthy challenge when the time comes to walk the walk. Even with every playthrough when You and I have our last encounter with each other, when my teams been worn out from kicking tons of ass all throughout the Victory Road...

You still were unable to beat me, or even take out one of my party members.Even with a decent team around the same levels... and with FULL FUCKING HEALTH and PP...

I'm sorry...

I'm... I'm just done with that non sense. it was more of a pointless chore whenever we fought... not like I could refuse, because apparently there's some Implied consent law where if someone wants to fight and you both have Pokemon, you must simply accept.

So please, Wally...

Don't ever bother me again unless you some how become able to actually make it so that I have to work for my victory

Favorite is defs May. And totally not just because she's hawt... But after reading Pokemon-X, I can't not adore her <3 Also #3DMay

Least favorite? Cheren or Bainca, IDK which I like less. Cheren was too... IDK, he was jsut Cheren. And Bianca was far too bouncy

Gary/Blue was the most challanging, and the only one to achive chmpionship

Silver was Ok considering his motives.

Brendan/May were just too weak (would like more Rival battles in the Remake)

Wally... he was a Rival? I only fought him 2 times... I don't consider that rivalry... (first time he only got Ralts = 0 challange and then vicotry road...)

Barry... actually I hardly remember him as that hasty-annoying-guy...

Cheren was Ok I guess...

Bianca... as Rival... no, too weak. she's no challenge... but I like her character (this clumsyness is kinda cute^^)

Hugh, that evil-looking good-guy huh? I consider him a mix of Silver and Barry... Silver from the looks, and Barry that I hardly remember him

Calem/Serena... also Ok. But a big minus point for Serena for FRIENDZONING me!! ("I respect you as a friend!" - C'MON! really??)

Trevor/Tierno ... like Wally - They were Rivals? The had always only 1 or 2 Pokemon under my level... I one hit them every damn time! and you only fight them only 2 times like Wally.

Shauna was good. that Goodra took me by suprise the first time she got that thing she almost anihilatad my team because I had nothing effective against dragons. also only 2 fights like Wally.

Fav: Barry cause he had his priorities in order and just entertained me with his hyperness

Least Fav: Tierno because:

1. His hair was stupid

2. His dancing sucked Boufalant butt
