All of a sudden from behind her a big wolf bowled over Helzebeth (careful not to hurt her mind you.). He began licking her face as much as he could, he was so happy to have his friend back. Helzebeth felt her connection to Hunter come back, clicking back into her mind, as if it was only merely turned off for a brief time.

All of a sudden, the half-elf was knocked down by what looked like a big blur of black-grey fur that began licking her face excitedly.

It was.. It was..

"Hunter!" she squealed in delight, in surprising high that her voice reached. Her arms wrapped themselves around the huge neck of her loyal and jubilant friend and began scratching him all over where her hands could reach.

In no time, she wrestled the wolf playfully, laughing happily, just so ecstatic about having Hunter back and knowing he was well.

Marcus found himself staring at his own dead body. It was quite a weird feeling, but in the end he decided it didn't look like him at all. It seemed more like a broken doll, with one arm missing and a hole in the chest. He turned away.

Marcus walked toward Odin and Helzelbeth. He was startled when a wolf jumped over the half-elf, but quickly realized it was her own wolf. He put a hand on the dwarf's shoulder.

"Yes Odin, I'll fight my best to give all of this a meaning. It would be too cruel if Magi was gone for nothing, and I refuse to believe that fate is this cruel. As the Godess of Light said, now we're linked until our task is done. Count on me."

In an Instant, Akuma wakes up back in the rubble that is the ruins of Brinestar. He sees his former body face down motionless with a huge gaping sword wound in its back through the chest. It is quite a familiar sight as Akuma reminisce his backstory as he gaze upon his dead body.

I was as good as dead at that time, even bird mother has forsaken me. for some reason i wake up that time with this curse that is this uncontrollable rage burning inside me. but this time i know this isn't a curse....its a gift....a calling to a higher purpose.

as Akuma agrees, he shrieks like an eagle as his wings spread as he responded to Odin's message.

Jeneve got to her feet. Odd. She immediately remembered herself after they left that nice shiny place. She looked around for her body, and saw herself near the edge of the town. At least, she thought it was herself. Indistinct piles of ash tended to be hard to distinguish between. In any case she knew her body was somewhere in the general area. She flexed her arms, performing a few back flips and cartwheels to test out her new body. She smiled as she noted her skin was softer and fairer than it had been before. The Goddess was generous. She got up and turned to the rest. She noted many of them were similarly gazing upon their old bodies, and opted to wait for them to finish. It was only polite, after all.

((acqui i'm pretty sure you were turned to ashes))

Xavier walked over to his corpse, ignoring the others for now. "At least I had a clean death. I don't look as heroic as I had fancied myself, however." He looked about, and after a moment, started dragging some timber that was still flammable into a pile.

Drug'thok walked over to his body, prodding his torso with his foot. "Well, it appears as though I had a small accident." The sorcerer chuckled, casually weaving a small spell around his corpse with his hands. The corpse glittered for a moment, then sunk into the dirt below it. A small flower appeared where Drug'thok's other body's head had been. "We have a second chance to save the world. Let's not squander it."

Nero wandered over to his own body, lying facedown on the path. There was a gaping wound in his back. He vaguely remembered a sharp, stabbing pain before all had gone black. He must have been attacked from behind. He bent down, retrieving his sword, loosing grasped by the pale flesh of his old body. He muttered a few words, a small flame lighting in his hand. It was one of the few fire spells he knew. He had been given a broad education, but personally favored practicing Illusion magic. He cast the flame down at his old body, and it immediately spread and ignited, burning it to cinders. He then muttered the words to another illusion spell, removing the smell of burning flesh from the area.

He thought back to the bright place they had all been taken to and the goddess, Lumabella.

"A goddess... So they do exist..."

It bothered his rational mind to think such a thought, but he couldn't deny it without denying his entire memory. He placed his sword back in its sheath, and began walking away, back to his wandering life. He didn't want to return to his manor, nor did he want to stay here. It only reminded him of his own weakness.

"All those years... All the magic I learned..."

He sneered and muttered, "It was all useless -- a waste of time. I need to become stronger..."

He stopped walking away as he thought back to the goddess's words.

"...This however, forevermore seals you 9 together. Your destinies are now intertwined..."

He laughed before continuing his pace. Why should he stay? Because some goddess said so? All she had done was returned him to this accursed world.

"I can't stop you from leaving Nero, but at least give me back that vial of my son's ashes before you go." Odin said as he noticed the man start to walk off. "I don't want you to have a token that would burden you if you were to leave us, it wouldn't be fair to you. But I think you should come with us. Your skills would be invaluable on this quest, and I am sure you have to get back at The Gentleman as well. I don't think you want to let that Godless Monster win do you?"

Nero paused in his tracks, retrieving the vial of ashes from his coat. He had forgotten about it, being more concerned with retrieving his sword. He looked down at the vial, thinking of what Odin had said. He gave a short, harsh laugh and began to speak, his back still turned to Odin.

"And just what is this 'quest'?" he sneered. "What are we supposed to do? Chase down his tracks and repeat the same fruitless struggle?" He shook his head, giving a slow, melancholy chuckle.

"No. There's no hope in this battle. Not the way we are now."

"We need to become stronger. Perhaps we all crossed paths for that reason." Odin sighed "I can't say I really put much stock in the gods, but maybe they put us together to allow each other to strengthen each other. May I ask of you one thing, Nero? Lady Lumabella told us we would find answers in Nevermore. Could you stay with until then, and if we don't find anything promising then you go? I don't want to guilt you into going, but whether you come or not I have to go. I will not let my Son's death be for nothing. I would rather try and die trying, then watch the darkness slowly engulf the world by doing nothing. ANd were else to you have to go, that won't be swallowed by the darkness eventually? We may as well make an effort then do nothing. We weren't put back here to not do anything with this second chance. But if you believe it is hopeless, Fine. Maybe having you with us would only hinder us, if your heart isn't in this fight, then there would be no point." Odin Orange Eyes, glowed like fresh Embers from the forge, his heart was in the right place, but he didn't feel like he would be able to get through to this man, perhaps he was a lost cause. Odin didn't let that show on his face. "So I have one last Question, Are you with us? Or are you on your own?"

Nero turned to face the dwarf. He met his glowing orange eyes, searching for the source of this man's hope. Why did he continue to believe things could get better? His world had just fallen apart, yet he continued to press on. After a short while, Nero gave a light chuckle.

"Odin, my entire world has been engulfed in darkness since the time I was a child."

He paused, and then slowly placed the vial of ashes back into his coat pocket.

"However... You carry the flame of hope within you, lighting the way in this darkened world. I will travel with you at least until Nevermore. I will decide the rest of my path once I know what it is we're meant to find there."

Quoth the raven...

Sorry...

"Aye it is settled then. We best get moving, we got a long way to Nevermore. First we need to pass through the Mouth of the Abyss, a place where it was believed the God of Darkness himself Sprung forth. On the other side of that is Passthrough, a small village, and we we will get to Nevermore. Now let us get out of this Graveyard a ways, I don't want to idle here too long, gives me the creeps." Said Odin.

((Flux was that reference to obvious lol?))

"Mouth of the Abyss... Seems like a nice place" Marcus joked, trying to lighten the mood of his fellow heroes a bit. "Lead the way Odin, you know this place best."

After a few more minutes of play, the ranger finally took her place by the dwarf.

"Agreed. I'd like to give that unholy bastard some proper retribution for slitting my throat," the prideful half-elf said, ruffling her dark hair as if wanting to mess it up in a specific manner. Hunter rumbled in agreement to Helzebeth's statement; no way in hell was he just going to let that thing off for putting him to shame-- twice, by dodging his attack, and by knocking him out-- and for harming his master.

Odin slung his Son's Hammer over his shoulder. "Aye, it is time to go my friends. I know the way Follow me, let's hope the remnants of that army didn't go that way." Odin said, the Fire still in his eyes. It was time for redemption, he kicked his body as he passed. Best to leave the past behind. Now was not the time to mope, Magni wouldn't have wanted that, for Magni he would be strong. For Magni, he would end the Gentleman with his bare hands if he had too.

And so began the Tale of our Heros, they were destroyed by the Gentleman, but deep down it only made them stronger, now they had a mission, it was a tale that would be told for ages.
