You might be wondering why I'm starting another RP. One, most of the RPs I'm in (MOST, I said. *stares at Graterras*) are fairly slow. Two, running the RP I'm doing doesn't take a lot of time dedication. Three, we still don't have a sandbox RP. Ideally, this won't need any management at all.

So, let's get to business. Much like the previous thread, we've got to make a few decisions. One, I'm deciding right now. Pseudo-legendaries are just fine, unless you're a dick, but, well, that can happen regardless. Another thing to keep in mind is that the range of acceptable characters is much wider. My plan here is having players fill every major role in the Pokemon world, so we need E4 members, sitting champions, team leaders, et cetera. I'll spare you the effort of reading twice and direct you to the above poll, except for one question, one of dire importance.

What the hell do we call it?

Let's call it Rebirth something based on the results after about 7+ votes. I haven't read the manga, but those seem much more eventful than the games, so that's what I'm shooting for. Anyway, good luck. I hope this goes well.

How about Pokemon: the Clusterf*ck

Some ideas for names/premises:

1) Pokemon: Replicant Realities. Can have a sort of Simulacrum and simulacra underlying plot with an alternate Pokemon universe being layered over an existing one as a result of gradual changes in individual perception; though this might be a bit too philosophical...

2) Pokemon: Redux. Since it's basically a reboot of the original series with new characters.

3) Pokemon: Intersections & Crossroads. Since a sandbox RP will primarily be about PC choices and how they impact the overall world and the characters around them.

I like Intersections and Crossroads, also what about the idea of a new region made up region that would follow the same structure as a basic in-game region, but could have unique towns, gyms, and even a unique team.

I forgot to mention: how would you guys feel about limited fakemons? Basically, fake Eeveelutions, a legendary or three (I need drawing practice,) and maybe some fake megas. This would work better if we chose a new, "undiscovered" region.

Well, if all major events have not yet occurred, then mega evolution hasn't been implemented. So, I think that should be a requirement if we are to permit Mega Evolution. Unless we do a game in the past, discover it on our own, and find a way to hide it until the release of Kalos.

For which roles exactly do you want to apply those restrictions? Is it just hero / champion / team boss or also E4 and team admins?

If it’s just the first 3, I would vote heavy restrictions. But if there are more roles restricted it wouldn’t leave many options for inexperienced people (like me). I don’t think anyone would like to be a Grunt who always loses / sidekick that doesn’t battle much. Not that I would mind having a character like Brock

*whistles* don't stare at me too much Murdoc, I get shy lol....otherwise, really enjoy this idea, but just wondering where it is going to go.

Other things, I think Legend should more or less be regulated in a way, but it would be kinda of a shame to not see them, they can stir up interesting events, but we would need people that know what they are doing to play them if they are allowed at all. THis would mostly to avoid them being hella Sue-ish. THe other thing this will take a lot of people, if we want original people to be all the E4 and gym leaders. I am willing to run a lot of characters the only last a for a little while, but I need to think about making my own character to run trough this with, we will see. and that is my 2 cents.

I would consider important roles to be, in descending order of importance and experience needed:

Primary team leaders a la Maxie, Ghetsis, Lysandere

Champions

Anyone owning a major legendary such as Rayquaza or Zekrom

E4 if they're involved in the plot

Secondary team leaders such as the Flare Scientists, Shelly, Galactic Admins

Gym leaders

Main protagonists aren't really going to exist, per se; I would hope a few people would work together.

You know scrap that I might run the Evil team, that would be fun, and as you guys see I make an awesome bad guy lol. (Graterras if you didn't know, though I wouldn't make this one anywhere near broken ass op as the Gentleman lol.).

I personally think that since there are already going to be so many characters at work in this RP, that having Mons as PCs would make it too spread out and as a result may weaken the RP. Also, if we're all supposed to be powerful/experienced trainers than the idea of our pokemon acting out on their own is a little unrealistic.

Okay, so my post is going to be divided into three parts: Region, Limited Fanfiction, and Legendary Pokemon.

1) Region

I feel as though the creation of a new region would be pretty cool. We could turn it into an RP community project, with gym leaders being able to have a say in what exactly their town is like. It would also lend itself to the creation of areas as deemed necessary by the community and would obviously need to be designed after any "limited fanfiction" is decided upon in order to make room for that. The creation of a new region would also permit leaders to choose types or no type at all (similar to Blue in Gen 2). It would also make it much easier to include the "limited fanfiction" factor.

2) Limited Fanfiction

The addition of limited fanfiction would be the driving reason to make a new region. We could make legendary Pokemon and actually be able to include them in the proper environment, as well as create new plot devices that have not already been used to death. I really like the idea of new Mega Evolutions as well- it gives a trainer a reason to bond with a Pokemon that might not be used otherwise. The new Eeveelution is a cool idea as well; it could be similar to the Gen 4 Eeveelutions that rely on location to evolve.

3) Legendary Pokemon

Community vote, moderator supervision.

I like that idea. What themes and natural elements haven't the games dealt with yet?

Gen I: Genetic engineering, fundamental elements, mutation, seasons

Gen II: Guardianship, granting of wishes, resurrection, natural disasters

Gen III: Land, sea, the creation of the world, the sky, eternal love, outer space

Gen IV: Space, time, antimatter, the origin of the universe, dreams, the mind, the core of the planet

Gen V: Opposites, truth, ideals, storms, conflict, music

Gen VI: Life, death, order, eternity

If we're doing a new region, we should have a legendary trio and maybe a duo that deals with a particular part of the world or a particular theme. Any ideas?

EDIT: Also, two fake Eeveelutions. Going in the order they were introduced:

Gen I: Jolteon, which is SE on Vaporeon, which is SE on Flareon

Gen II: Umbreon, which is SE on Espeon, both of which are neutral to the last three

Gen III: None

Gen IV: Glaceon, which is SE on Leafeon, both of which are neutral to the previous two

Gen V: None

Gen VI: Sylveon, which is neutral to the previous two

I say, to follow the somewhat existing pattern, they should be either neutral to Sylveon, Glaceon, and Leafeon, or one that's SE on Sylveon and one that is SE on that. (E.G, poison and ground.) Or, something weak to Sylveon (Dragon or Fighting) if we only do one.

EDIT 2: Relevant trivia for eeveelutions

  • Each Eeveelution has identical base stat totals, as well as the same 130-110-95-65-65-60 amounts. What differs among them is which amount is allotted to which stat.
    • Espeon and Glaceon both have their highest base stat in Special Attack, as well as the same stats in HP and Special Defense. The other stats, however, vary.
    • Umbreon and Sylveon both have their highest base stat in Special Defense, as well as the same stats in HP and Attack. The other stats, however, vary.
    • Leafeon is the only Eeveelution whose base stat in Special Defense is lower than 95.
    • No Eeveelution so far has either HP or Special Defense as its lowest base stat.
    • Vaporeon is the only Eeveelution that does not share any weakness with another. Flareon and Jolteon are weak to Ground-type moves, Espeon, Umbreon and Leafeon are weak to Bug-type moves, Umbreon and Glaceon are weak to Fighting-type moves, Leafeon and Glaceon are weak to Fire-type moves, Flareon and Glaceon are weak to Rock-type moves, Leafeon and Sylveon are weak to Poison-type moves, and Glaceon and Sylveon are weak to Steel-type moves.
    • Flareon is the only Eeveelution who has a type advantage over more than one other Eeveelution (being Leafeon and Glaceon).
    • Espeon is the only Eeveelution not to have a type advantage over another at all (Vaporeon is strong against Flareon, Jolteon is strong against Vaporeon, Flareon is strong against both Leafeon and Glaceon, Umbreon is strong against Espeon, Leafeon is strong against Vaporeon, Glaceon is strong against Leafeon, and Sylveon is strong against Umbreon).

So, basically, fix these things. Ideally, all of these "abnormalities" would be fixed. So, we need to try to have one:

-with a base 60 HP stat

-sharing a weakness with Vaporeon

-one that's weak to Espeon

-with a base 60 special defense

-supereffective on more than one eeveelution

-with a base 130 Speed, Health, Attack, or Defense

Poison and Ground, anyone? Ground is weak to three existing eeveelutions (breaking the pattern) and SE on two (three if we do poison), while Poison is weak to one (two if we do ground) and supereffective on two.

We need a major Bug-type and Poison-type legendary, and no more goddamn dragons. As much as I love dragons, there are just too many Dragon-type legends. Rayquaza, Latios, Latias, Palkia, Giratina, Dialga, Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem, and Zygarde. In Gen IV, there were just as many legendary dragons as regular ones.

Anyway, my ideal trio has the keeper supereffective or resisting the lower two. (Rayquaza is immune to Groudon and resistant to Kyogre, for example.) We also might want to do non-existant type combos. Coming up with our forces/concepts might help.

Ideas:

Poison/Steel governing a Grass/Rock and an Ice/Bug (Grass/Rock exists, but is uncommon)

If you want a bug or poison type legendary then one of the main themes we could go for would be Nature vs. Industrialization, where the legendary bug type symbolizes nature (or the horrible byproduct of it, if we go with a particularly ugly bug) and the legendary poison type could symbolize industry (or the horrible byproduct of that life-style.)

As for a legendary...
If you've finished the game Okami, you've seen the final boss. It's a tiny fish-like creature inside a ball, inside a ball of armor. I quite like that, so that could be something to draw inspiration from. Perhaps the legendary could be Poison/Psychic?

As for Fakemon to add...
I'm fairly certain there is no dolphin Pokemon, so that is an option I'm putting out. Or something similar to the Blue Mollusk Dragon.

I love the Blue Dragon Mollusk, so that's reason in my book. It's actually a one-eyed slug, but whateves.

As for an eeveelution...

Depending on the environment, we a ground or poison type, like Murdoc said, should be implemented. If the region is more natural and down-to-earth, it should be a ground evolution. If it's more urban and city-like, the eeveelution should be poison. That's my opinion, at any rate.
