Under the Hill - First Circle: Judgement

Marcus stood, having completed his task. In the distance, he heard a rather wet-sounding explosion. Curiosity drove his footsteps toward it. As he approached, he began to hear a few voices speaking. He halted for a moment, considering his next move. The killer backed up until he could no longer hear the three? speaking. He started breathing heavily and running in place, working himself up so he appeared to have been running away from something. After doing so, Marcus sprinted back toward the voices, with their owners quickly coming into view. He noted the mess and stink of a large amount of blood. The man standing there was probably his best bet, so he threw himself at him and started gibbering in a panicked voice. "Thank God someone else is here! I've been running for my life, there were these shadow creatures, and that old man . . . someone stabbed him!" The serial killer abruptly jumped back, continuing to feign terror. "And what the hell is that?!" he asked, gesturing at the splatter of blood while backing away, almost stepping on one of the younger boys.

(Kenny... A certain someone just burst from around the corner...)

"I can't Mr. Ethic, i've done enough! I can't create something pure. I don't want to hurt anybody no more especially you and Kenny due to my personal demons and lack of control. Maybe that judge was right maybe i deserve judgement for malevolent thoughts that's why I'm down here."

Ethic could see that Ixidor was genuinely troubled very much about something. But he wasn't going to put this off like he had the first few times. He didn't like it, but he would have to push Ixidor a little more in order to get any answers. Kenny spoke next, trying to help.

""Hey, Ix, how about drawing something simple, like some kind of polygon?"

It was a good enough idea.

"OK, yeah, just draw something simple, Ix."

That's when another person, a man, came from around the corner, throwing himself to the ground in front of Ethic's feet, and started talking, he looked to be fatigued.

"Thank God someone else is here! I've been running for my life, there were these shadow creatures, and that old man . . . someone stabbed him!And what the hell is that?!"

His voice sounded panicked, but something... was just off. the voice... it was incredibly convincing... it damn near fooled Ethic...

But He had heard and seen pretty good acting before while on his travels, and this man was indeed acting... The panic in this man's voice as he spoke.. it seemed to be a bit... too eager... like too much effort was being put into making it convincing. That's when Ethic caught a glimpse of his face... and he knew he'd seen this guy before... but where?

The hermit resonated in the air, and Ethic's memory cleared a little

That's right... the hermit showed me him walking through an aisle earlier... he's the guy I had a bad feeling about on sight...

And this guy had mentioned something about an old man being stabbed... that must be Mr.Taylor he was reffering to... he said someone stabbed him... but why just someone? People just don't get randomly stabbed by floating knives that pop out of thin air... if there was an assailant, why didn't this guy give details on their appearance, like someone who had just seen a person murdered normally would? Maybe the man was just flustered and Ethic was on edge from his two recent encounters... Or maybe this man was lying right through his teeth. but again.. why would the hermit show him to him if he was not to be noted for some reason? Maybe... He's the one that killed mr.taylor...

the man was backing away now, looking at the blood splatter on the floor. this gave Ethic an idea... only one way to find out if this guy killed mr.taylor, but first...

He looked to the man. maybe deterrence was needed...

"That blood splatter on the floor? I did that." he said, half lying, it was really Ix who had done that, but this man didn't need to know that. "what you see there was once a man... but he tried somethin funny... tried to take out my two friends here." He gestured to Kenny and Ixidor, at the same time mouthing the words Keep it Shut descretely to the both of them. Ethic had just lied through his teeth, and it was far more likely to work if neither Kenny nor Ix spoke up and said something that may contradict the story... he trusted them to get the message...

Now...just in case a bit of detterence wasn't enough

Lucian... he called out mentally to the KOM.

I think I know what you're going to ask... don't worry, I'll back you up like last time...er.. the time before that.

With that, Ethic began a resonance with the Magician arcana, and could feel Lucian's presence in his mind once again. time to find out if this guy did the deed.

"Listen up. Answer one question correctly, and I'll help you." He said as he invoked the Hermit discretely... There would be no rooms for lies in this... and Ethic intended to strike with extreme force if the answer was wrong.

"What did the person who stabbed the old man look like?" With that, he awaited the man's answer, Lucian waiting in the back of his mind in case his assistance would be needed soon...

Hearing no response from her companions, Rose sighed. "Ok," she surmised, " we have to move, because for all we know that she-wolf will come back. I suggest we go this way." Before moving, she carefully grabbed Enya's hand while holding her, placing it inside of Damian's right hand. She then placed Ellaria's hand into his left. "We'll go slowly, but stick together." With that, she began to lead them through the hell they had entered.

The man sprinted around the corner, seeming to be terrified.

"Thank God someone else is here! I've been running for my life, there were these shadow creatures, and that old man . . . someone stabbed him! And what the hell is that?!"

why does he sound familiar?... i'm pretty sure i heard his voice before.

Ethic then spoke to the stranger.

"Listen up. Answer one question correctly, and I'll help you."

then, Ethic asked his question.

"What did the person who stabbed the old man look like?"

""Hey, Ix, how about drawing something simple, like some kind of polygon?".

"OK, yeah, just draw something simple, Ix.

Ixidor seems relief and feeling ease of the guilt after that confession. He was almost done sobbing as he tries to regain his composure as he tries to respond to Kenny's idea, suddenly a man interupted right infront of the them and seems to be in trouble. the young painter flop so hard with minimum contact from that man as he felt on his back. he squint his eyes to identify the stranger. It was the stranger before but he was too emotional to say anything about it and kept his silence and was gullible enough to believe the Stranger's story.

"Hmm sure easy enough i'll try" he said with tension on his face.

Ok, Ixy you can do this its just a simple shape there's no way you can screw this up. as Ixidor channels his powers once more as he draws from his pad. he drew a pentagon with precise lining while Ethic and Kenny is interrogating the Man.

Suddenly a wall of 5 glasses was erected within the radius of the group (kinda like Thresh's Ult only wider) surrounding and containing them in that glass prison.

Seeing Enya begin to shift frantically, Rose gently smiled. "It's ok, Enya. Ace is safe and sound; see, he's right here," she soothed, bringing her second arm up to reveal the bear. "Don't fret, I kept him safe for you while you were asleep." With care, she handed the girl her object of affection.

Ellaria

Ellaria was silent for some time, even though her mind was racing. She didn't know where they all were, she didn't know what was happening... It was normal for her to feel a little confused since she lost the ability to see things, but she always had her other senses to tell her what was going on. Now she wasn't even sure if she could trust them.

She felt the smell of wood and paper, the cold marble floor, and she had heard the sound of pages flipping as books fell. All that should tell her she was on a bookstore or a library of some sort, right? But in which world would a library have wolfs growling and trains appearing out of nowhere? She was not a little confused this time, she was completely lost. Except...

She felt the warm touch of Rose's hand guiding her, and that calmed her down a bit. She heard the worried tone on Damien's voice when he spoke to the others, and it felt sincere. She listened to little Enya's worry with her Teddy bear and it felt pure. She couldn't see these people, but was able to feel them. Whenever they were she felt that she'd got lucky for being with a group like this.

"Ahn, so, what you guys are doing here?" Ellaria finally managed to ask "And where is "here" by the way? I've come in for accident, just wanted somewhere to hide from the rain..."

Maintaining his act, Marcus replied. "I couldn't see his face," he said truthfully. One couldn't see one's own face, unless there was a mirror nearby. "He just looked like an average guy to me." Marcus was fully aware of his rather plain appearance. His wide eyes darted back and forth as the glass barrier rose around the group. "You're not gonna. . ." He stopped, eyes coming to a rest on the splatter of blood. Hold on, he thought to himself. This man is obviously bluffing. There isn't that much blood in a human body; I would know.

The young painter looks around and was glad his creation didn't backfire this time as he smiles and said with amazement "wow, I did it! "

Ixidor turns his attention to what seems to be another lost person trap in the library, He then turns to Ethic "There's no need to lie Mr.Ethic,Mr.Kenny" as Ixidor clumsily give out his friend's name and motives. As he childishly interrupted Ethic and the Stranger's conversation in there middle of their mindgames with each other.

"Don't worry mister, we're just lost and confused as you are, Glad your not hurt..you can come with us if you like. better stick together there's lot of dangerous stuff around here." said with jolliness as he extend his hand to Marcus showing his complete trust. just before the others could respond.

A small glass shard suddenly flies off stabbing Ixidor in the shoulder not to deep as he went down, curling himself and crying in pain. As the mirror wall surrounding the group of people seems to alive and hundreds of shards appears as it ripples from the mirror's surface.

The mirror prison wall rapid fire these shrapnel back and forth from each direction leaving the people inside caught in a crossfire of shards.

Rose started a bit at the sound of Ellaria's voice. The poor girl sounded unsure of everything that had gone on, though in all honesty Rose couldn't say she blamed her companion. This place was insane.

"Well," Rose began, using her free hand to move some hair away from her face, "this hill has been in the papers recently. Apparently many famous explorers had gone missing in this place, and strange occurrences take place within. At the bottom of the hill, there is said to be a massive treasure but none know what it is, having not made it to the bottom of the hill.

At this point, Rose stopped. "How much should I tell them?" she wondered. "It's true that we are traveling together, but does that necessitate friendliness?" Thinking of the kindness that the others had shown toward her, she decided that she should risk it.

"As for why I'm here, my family casted me out, because they didn't care for what they thought my career choice was going to be. While I was running away, I snagged the newspaper on the lawn so that I would have something to read. At the bus stop is where I learned of the hill, and I spent all my saved cash to get here. I hope that if I can reach the bottom, I can pay for my education and make a name for myself in the field I'd like to go into. Then maybe, my family will apologize." Rose smiled bitterly at the secret wish that she had held since she learned about the hill. "It's silly, I know. But I have to keep hoping."

Ellaria made a surprised face when Rose finished talking. "Wait so this is that hill?" if the rumours around this place were true, that would explain the strange noises. "I always heard this place was dangerous but... if we can get to the bottom maybe..." she touched her eyes. "Maybe I could get my eyes back!" She didn't say it out loud, maybe afraid that showing her hopes would bring her bad luck. Still, the oportunity was too tempting to pass, after all she was already in, and with a group to help her out.

"I'm sorry about your family Rose" Ellaria said than, changing subject. " But I'm really glad I found you guys here, else I don't know what would have..." she suddenly stopped. "Did you hear that?"

Rose smiled at how Ellaria's face had become so bright and hopeful with her unfinished sentence, seeing how she touched her eyes gingerly. "Maybe this could become a good thing after all," she thought to herself. "They're all kind, and if we help each other we all get what we want!" Suddenly she felt tugging on her hand, and looked back.

Ellaria had stopped and asked Rose a question that chilled her to her bones. "Did you hear that?" Shaking her head slowly, Rose responded, "No, I didn't, but if you did then we had better get a move on."

"Yeah, you're right. It's like something is walking around here but... in three legs?" Ellearia said, puzzled. Not having the use of her eyes made her become very sensitive when it came to sounds. "Whatever it is, it's to our right." she warned the others.

Rose quickly turned left and made sure the others were following. Whispering, she asked, "Ellaria, I know this is an odd question, but can you tell about how far away this mystery creature is?" It was on a whim she was asking, but Rose knew that having heightened senses due to having others weakened sometimes meant that you could tell more about an object than you first thought. As she held her breath waiting for an answer, she continued to walk further away from whatever it was Ellaria had alerted them to.

suddenly, the Glass Walls Shattered, sending shrapnel hurtling everywhere. Kenny quickly raised a Barrier around the group, which protected them from most of the shards, but they were still battered by some of the shards that had gotten near them before the Barrier had been raised.

Ow. That really hurts!

Kenny knew that Ethic and Ixidor were probably in the same condition as him, so he used his Aura to heal Ethic and then Ixidor, glowing Turquoise in the process. Then, the Barrier fell, and Kenny fell onto the floor, unconscious from the giant headache and the wounds.

Elaria

"The bookshelves weaken the sound, so if heard it it's not far for sure." Ellaria answered with a concerned look. ''It's doesn't seem to be moving very fast though."

======================================

Darkness surrounded Kenny as he fell unconcious, but not for long. When he next opened his eyes he was surrounded, Shadows closing over him from all sides, whispering in a menacing tone...

"Quiet all of you!" the voice of Judge Minos echoed in the room. "Get back to you places, this trial will start."

The shadows got back to the juri bench immediately and the judge turned to face Kenny.

"Very well Kenny Holmes, your trial shall begin now. First of all, what do you seek within this place?"

((K_H the walls didn't shattered, it's kinda like Haku's ice mirrors from Naruto...its my bad for lacking description though))

Ixidor felt better after being healed and didn't even notice cause his eyes was close at that time when he fell to the ground. The storm of shrapnel continues to fly like bullets being fired as he cowardly hits the dirt motionless covering his head.

Mr. Taylor kept moving, slowly inching forward and leaning on his cane. The pain he had experienced after his death was almost completely gone now, but the memory scarred him. Visions kept racing through his mind, Marcus slowly drawing forward with the knife and laying him to waste, but that wasn't all. Other visions of himself in pain seemed to be racing through his head as well, things that he had absolutely no recollection of happening, old friends, colleagues, strangers he'd seen on the street, it didn't matter, his brain just kept inventing ways for him to die.

Despite the horrors in his head, Mr. Taylor pushed forward. He believed he had figured out where they were and he had just one conclusion, if he could find the way out, he needed to use it. But, that's where the problem lied, finding a way out, the library was generally the same, each bookshelf was spaced equally apart and had the exact same collection. There were no landmarks, no variations in the floor or ceiling, just the same thing over and over again. To top this off Mr. Taylor couldn't remember the star map in his head anymore after he had died. So, he came up with a plan, after leaving the scene he'd head straight ahead and eventually, he'd reach a wall, then after that, he'd simply follow along the wall until he found a door. It was simple enough and right now it was his only option.

That is until he heard some mumbling. It sounded like a few girls talking in the distance, so he started heading that way. He could also make out that they knew he was coming, the one girl noted his direction from them and that it sounded as though it had three legs (he was hoping they were talking about his cane), the other asked how far away he was, and the other responded that she couldn't make it out. He sighed, wishing he didn't feel the need to try and help them, but he knew he did, and he also knew he probably would need there help so he headed in there direction, while shouting.

"Hello there! The name's Mr. Taylor I mean you no harm!" He continued forward rounding the bookcase and catching a look at them, there were four of them a boy, two older girls (teens or twenties he thought), and a young girl, no older than 7, Mr. Taylor let out a friendly smile as he slowly approached them, "Now I don't suppose any of you happen to know where the exit is?"

Phantom could feel a rush of emotion from his place in the other plane. It was a mixture of surprise and fear. There were four sources of this fear, but after a few seconds, one of them faded away. He opened a portal into the middle of the chaos, looking through to see what was taking place.

--------------------------------------------------------

A portal opened inside the glass prison, and Phantom stepped out. Glass shards were flying everywhere. He quickly grabbed the boy on the ground and the other man before casting a glance at the final character in the prison. It was the killer he had encountered before. The glowing eyes behind his mask met the other man's gaze for a short while, but he broke contact as shards of glass pierced his left should and both legs. He quickly pulled the two he had a hold of into the portal, closing it behind him, leaving the final man trapped in the vortex.

----------------------------------------------------------

Phantom pulled the other two behind him forcefully while in the other dimension. He knew that they were not used to existing in such a plane, and it rejected their bodies. When he reached a point that he was sure would be outside the glass walls, he opened another portal and thrust them out ahead of him, following behind.

They entered the familiar world facing the outside of the glass walls. Phantom took a quick glance at the boy, who seemed okay, before focusing on the other man he had brought with him. He spoke slowly in a quiet and deep voice that seemed to resonate in their minds.

"Don't... trust..."

Phantom quickly turned without waiting for a reaction, opening another portal with which he disappeared.

(((He grabbed Ethic and Ixidor in case there's any confusion.)))

Rose turned at the sound of a voice. "Hello there! The name's Mr. Taylor, I mean you no harm!" She saw an old man coming toward the small group of explorers, and so decided to step forward. As she moved toward him, leading Damien and Ellaria while holding Enya, the old man spoke once more. "Now I don't suppose any of you happen to know where the exit is?" he questioned hopefully.

Rose shook her head regretfully as she responded. "Hello, Mr. Taylor, my name is Rose. I mean you no harm, and expect that you mean myself or my companions none in return. None of us have seen an exit in quite awhile." Thinking to herself, Rose couldn't help but take in his ragged appearance and think, "Maybe we should help him..."

The wee lass looked at the aged gentleman curiously.

"The exit...?" She tilted her head to the side as if in thought. "I think it... Shows itself once we've all met the Judge." The way she said it was in her usual innocent tone, as she really only was a child.

... But Ace doesn't seem to like Mister Minos.

"The judge?" Mr. Taylor wondered aloud, the group seemed friendly, which gave him some relief, but the comment that the younger girl had made threw him off. "What do you mean, you beautiful little girl?"
