Under the Hill - First Circle: Judgement

Rose groggily woke up. "Ugh, I feel as though I've been hit by a car," she moaned, shakily bringing a hand to her head. Glancing at her companions, she noticed Damian tending to a tired looking Enya, while Ellaria seemed frozen in what seemed to be shock or fear-- Rose couldn't tell. She also noticed the remnants of a barrier disappearing; perhaps someone else had discovered their own gifts from the hill as well? Not seeing the Wolf anywhere, Rose mentally sighed with relief, but made a mental note to keep paying attention to these intuitive feelings that she continued to get-- they had served her well when her family kicked her out, and it seemed that they were continuing to serve her here.

Stiffening, she recalled the memories that had come up while she had been knocked out. "No," she thought, tears silently rolling down her face. "I won't be hurt again. Even though I've joined these people, I can't let myself trust them. It'll only turn out badly for me." She ignored the part of her heart telling her that there was something about them that she could trust, locking it away deep inside of her.

Wiping away her tears, she stood up uncertainly, wincing as pain snaked throughout all her joints. Keeping her voice as steady as she could, she asked the others, "When should we start moving?"

Marcus looked about, checking if anyone was nearby. He pulled out the knife and a small cloth, then sat down. He stretched out the shirt that had contained the stained pocket and cut the bloodstained portions out, then pulled a match from his pocket and lit it on fire. He held the burning cloth between two fingers until it nearly reached them, then dropped it on the floor. After this, he proceeded to start carefully cleaning the blade with the cloth, ensuring every stain was safely removed.

Rose stood waiting for a reply, when Enya's arms came loose and she passed out. Ace fell to the floor with a loud thud. Stumbling over to the child, she quickly checked the girl's vitals, relieved to find that she had simply gotten tired. Satisfied that the girl was ok for the time being, she glanced up to see that the barrier that had been around them was completely gone. "Is this Enya's power?" she questioned herself, before focusing on reality again.

With the barrier gone, the group was now susceptible to the dangers that were in this hill. Swallowing all her doubts and weakness and summoning courage in their place, she hefted her young charge and the teddy bear, shuddering under the weight.

"When should we start moving?"

"Hmmm. Now with Enya's barrier gone we have no protection against any other dangers around here. So for now we should carry Enya. Here let me help you."

Damian helped Rose lift Enya and her teddy bear. It seemed like the girl had passed out from exhaustion. She would need to be careful when using that barrier again, but it did save all of their lives. Now if they could just find some sign of a way out or a new path that would be great.

after Kenny and Ethic seems to get going, Ixidor was confuse why Ethic come up with spontaneous decision. "Ok, Mr.ethic, Mr.kenny.. Oh wait!" said with a bright tone. while Ixidor has this idea as he sketch a white lab mouse with a small tracking device on its collar and what seems to be a three radars on the other. As expected his creations backfires and a black deceased infected rat with vicious rabies appears followed by a faulty reception radar on the other.

As the wired small rat runs off through aisle. "Well it's something, now we have visual! here you each get one. the reception is pretty fuzzy tho, okay lets go" as he handed out the devices to Ethic and Kenny as he holds a radar of his own and started to walk.

The scout rat runs through the loops and holes through the library selves.finding its way through the ashed shirt and start sniffing at it and exposing itself to Marcus with its red blinking collar.

((hope i'm not breaking anything))

Ethic took the radar that Ix handed him, casting a quick glance at the horrid looking black rat that had sprang forth from Ix's drawing pad, thinking to himself.

What's going on with him? First he apparently draws up some skeletal horse, and now he's popping Diseased looking rats from his sketch pad... what, does he have a preference for darker stuff or something? No, that isn't it. That lion and giant frog he drew earlier didn't have this... same uneasy... presence as these things do... but something's happening here...

Deciding just to not focus on it right now, Ethic watched as the rat scurried off into the maze of book shelves.

"Well it's something, now we have visual! here you each get one. the reception is pretty fuzzy tho, okay lets go"

Ixidor had a point. at least now they did have some way of knowing whats ahead, though the crappy reception on the radars was probably going to lead to issues as to knowing exactly where they were headed.

He started walking off again, still thinking...

Should I tell him about Mr.Taylor? No...no... He's just a kid, and I'm sure that they'll be plenty enough things down here to stress him out without knowing that...

With that, he looked back to Ix as the trio walked onward.

"Hey, Ix," he began "From now on, I want you to stay close to me unless I tell you otherwise. Understand?"

the three continued walking as Ethic awaited Ixidor's response.

"Ahmm.. Okay mr.Ethic" said Ixidor with uncertainty on his voice as he scratch his head wondering while he walks with them. "don't worry about me, i can handle those shadow men with ease as long my drawings don't backfire on me!" said Ixidor with prideful tone,

Rose smiled gratefully at Damian as he helped her with Enya. "Thanks, I guess I still don't have all my strength back yet," she commented, able to balance the child and her bear with more ease now. Glancing at Ellaria, she questioned, "What are we going to do? We can't leave her here but we need to start moving." Rose thought for a moment, then added, "We also need to figure out a way to either get out of here, or move deeper into the hill. I'm not particularly fond of wolves or shadowy creatures."

"Ahmm.. Okay, Mr.Ethic, don't worry about me, I can handle those shadow men with ease as long my drawings don't backfire on me!"

Ethic looked back at him.

"Yeah, that's great and all, Ix... But there are greater threats down here than shadows..."

He looked down at the Radar with it's crappy reception, and noticed as the red blip on it representing the rat seemed to come to a stop... and it wasn't too far from here...

"Hold on guys... I think we may have found something with these things..."

He stopped and continued to watch as the Blip remained motionless on the Radar Screen...

"Hold on, guys... I think we may have found something with these things..."

"i certainly hope we don't run into trouble, but there's no guarantee of that..."

best prepare for trouble, just in case.

Kenny then started Charging up his Aura, storing the energy just in case something bad was headed their way.

I'll need this energy eventually, so i should accumulate it now, instead of later. better to be safe than sorry.

As Enya's vision blackened, she started to dream. For a moment she saw Rose an Damian holding her in their arms, but that vision dissolved on a blur and she now found herself in the courtroom, shadows looming over her from both sides, judge Minos staring down at her diminute form.

"Are you ready for Judgement, child?" his voice echoed.

The She-Wolf growled happily around a corner. It had been quite a long time since the Hill was this full of prey, and she was determined on getting as much fun out of it as she could. After all, an easy meal wasn't nearly as satisfying as the thrill of the hunt.

She raised her right paw, holding the strange rat she had found by it's tail. With a playful grin she threw the poor thing upwards, closing her huge mouth around it when it landed.

The Light on the Radar died all of a sudden...

"That's... not good..."

Ethic turned to the other two...

"The signal's gone... The reception was crappy and grainy... but we could always at least see some trace of it..."

The final judgement arcana began to resonate intensely in his pocket, which typically so far had never happened in favorable situations...

Something's around here... he thought to himself.

The Resonance increased ten-fold, giving off immense light and heat, as if a torrent of power was coursing from the card. Ethic knelt and grasped his chest, quickly finding the card, the heat nearly searing his fingers on contact.

How do I make this stop...

A familiar voice echoed in his mind...

Tell it to. Acknowledge that it is trying to warn you off something, and it will calm down...

Ethic did just that, and the Final Judgement's Resonance stabilized, apparently satisfied of the warning of something it had just given. Ethic stood back up.

Shit's about to hit the fan... It wasn't anywhere near that bad either times when I ran into the Crowd of Shadows...

He took the lead instantly

"Ixidor... I want you to get behind me. RIGHT. NOW." He said those last two words with as much strength as he could put into his voice. The younger boy would just have to trust him and obey for now... He turned to kenny as he began pooling his own power into a reserve he could call upon without doing to much dipping into his body's energy. He knew that whatever had set off the FJ's warning, it was close...

"Kenny... Start walking backwards the way we came... I'll take up the rear, make sure nothing happens to Ixidor." He stared the other teen hard in the eye, hoping he'd just do as Ethic asked and didn't question it...

He didn't know exactly what was around here, but whatever it was... Ethic had the feeling a fight with it wouldn't be very pretty... Best to make a strategic retreat... even If one doesn't know from what.

The young painter halt and listen to Ethic's command and without any question started to form a formation as he knew something is not right here. Goodjob! using your allies as human meat shield, there is hope for you yet! as the voice taunts him yet again. Ixidor ignore his thoughts and started to get his sketchpad from his satchel just in case.

suddenly, Ethic's Tarot deck began to glow from within Ethic's Pocket, and Kenny felt a pulse of power surge over him because of it. Kenny knew that whatever it was that had made the deck react, it wasn't friendly. Ethic then suggested that they get out of there.

"Got it."

he then opened a portal that led away from whatever it was that was out there, back to the main group.

"Follow me. this portal will get us away from it."

he then stepped through it, and got a mild headache, but kept the portal open.

"Got it."

Ethic watched as Kenny disappeared into the portal he had created in the air, He looked over at Ixidor behind him.

"Go on Ix, I'll be there right after you." even with this convenient escape route now available, Ethic was still intent on taking up the rear-guard.

Well these guys are no fun, well it's better to live to fight another day said the voice in a disappointing tone, as Ixidor steps in through the portal shaken from what is going on.

Minos smiled. "Good girl. Your's will be quite an interesting trial I think. Tell me, do you know what a Sin is?" He asked staring right into the girl's blue eyes.

==========================================

When Ixidor was getting through the portal, the She-Wolf jumped from the bookshelve next to him, biting his clothes and dragging him back quickly to the corridor and around the corner.

((Damn you gator))

Ixidor was one step way from safety then suddenly this happen, he try to process what is going on cause everything happens in a blink of an eye as he takes a good look at the She-wolf while being drag with his heartbeat raising and almost scared to death. The young painter hold on for the ride as he reaches for his clothes as his hands begin to glow accidentally triggering his erasing powers causing the cloth to snap and breaking the grip of the She-wolf, which sent him tumbling on the asphalt library floor. He barely stands up weak on his knees as he reached for his sketchpad and trying to predict what will the She-wolf will do.

Hmm, the best way is to retreat here and regroup with my friends but i can't outrun this thing, this thing is fast, what will i do? as Ixidor winced in pain and hesitated to make another move.

"It's... Something bad that you aren't supposed to do, right?"

"Right Enya. Now, I want you to think carefully and tell me if you did something bad already." The judge asked.

------------------------------------------------------------------

The She-Wolf was surprised, as somehow her weak prey managed to escape her. Not that it mattered, she was still way faster than the little human. She prepared to strike.

He saw the she-wolf was ready to pounce, Ixidor sketches a circle as a crude shield appears before him big enough to cover his body, as he step back inch by inch trying to retreat.
