Flux
Nero stepped over to Sigurd. "I... wouldn't suggest taking his offer," he muttered quietly. "If he can cast a simulacrum, there's no telling what else he can do. That's an extremely powerful Illusion spell. It's almost become a legend, it's so difficult to cast." He stopped, apparently having said all he intended to. He would leave the final decision to the others, but he didn't feel comfortable traveling with the likeness of such a powerful being, at least not in the shape he was in now. Raindrop Valkyrie
"I promise, no tricks." He said a rather straight look on his face. It was strange. He for some reason didn't feel hostile in the slightest. "I just want to learn of the world after being stuffed in a castle for I don't know, over 300 years or something....Look, I lost count okay?" Flux
Nero met the simulacrum's eyes as it spoke. He could actual sympathize with it on that subject, at least to some extent. That understanding could vaguely be seen in Nero's eyes, if one looked close enough. How long had he lived in the ruins of his manor by himself? Even he, who preferred solitude, had developed an urge to see the rest of the world. That was why he was here after all, along with... other reasons. He turned his gaze from the illusion, walking back to the outside of the group. It would be their decision. He was a man of solitude, and he wasn't about to make decisions for the group. Chevaleresse
"I don't believe any force commanding a death knight is one to trust." Xavier strode closer to the simulacrum. "Why should I believe that you have no intention of harming us?"
Raindrop Valkyrie
"Because I can't? You don't know how simulacrums work.....do you?" The Crimson King said, with a bit of a condescending tone. "Anyway, rather than describe how it works to you ad nausem, I can't attack you with this projection. It doesn't have.... my capabilities of magic so to speak. And this particular version would just phase through you." as he finished that sentence he stuck his hand out towards Xavier as if to strike him. However it passed through him and did nothing. "See?" Chevaleresse
Xavier seemed to almost puff up a bit, like a cat that had been stepped on. "I'm not daft, despite what you may believe. I happen to be over a century old. Information is an incredibly powerful weapon, especially in the hands of someone who already possesses other powerful weapons. You don't strike me as the type who is content with simply 'getting some air.'"
Raindrop Valkyrie
"And what would you know of Me? You only met me a little a bit a go, so you really don't have much to go on here other than I am Undead. No reason to discriminate you know. Not all of us Undead are bad guys." He said, a playful look on his face. "Though you did meet him before me, so I can understand you hesitation." he said pointing at the Death Knight's now crumpled body. "And do you know how dusty Castles are, they really get my sinuses clogged and are really stuffy. Not good for the ole' noggin if you know what I mean." He said tapping his Skull with his knuckles. Chim
Even after his friends raised some valid points as to not take the Crimson King with them, Sigurd was tempted to just do it. “See, he can’t touch us!” he said after the skeleton’s performance. “And even if he gets information on us, we can also get some information out of him, isn’t that right Boney?” he grinned. “I say let’s take him with us!”
Raindrop Valkyrie
"Oh splendid!!!" he said, clapping his hands together. He seemed to have the enthusiasm of a young child. "I will just make myself more convenient to carry and disguise myself, I imagine most people wouldn't take kindly to a Lich walking into their village even if he wasn't really there." he said, look of wonderment in in his eyes (very hard to pull off when you don't have eyes persay.).He snapped his fingers, and turned into a little black grimoire with a crimson red binding. The front of it adorned with a Red Skull. It had the same little red pinpoints of light for eyes he did right now, and they were moving around. "Well, then pick me up and we shall be off!!!" Chim
Sigurd enjoyed himself a bit too much with the Crimson King. After Nero told him that the simulacrum, or whatever it was called, was a legendary technique, his reckless side took over. In fact, he looked forward to see what else the Lich was capable of. “Ooh, what else can you transform in, Boney?” he asked enthusiastic before picking up the grimoire and walking over to Nero. “Oi, Nero, stop distancing yourself! You can tell when he tries something funny, right? Want to carry him just to be sure?” he grinned.
Raindrop Valkyrie
"Oh, Dark and Brooding......I like him already." said the Crimson King upon seeing Nero. It must have been strange having a book talk to you. "and I can take any form, so long as it is the same size, or smaller than my own, well this projection anyway. Luckily I whipped up this version that could shape change to talk to mopey bones over there." he said referring to the Death Knight once more. Zephyrus the Priestess
A bit disgruntled, Hunter followed the party, eyeing the red artifact wearily. The childish demeanor did confuse the wolf a little, but he chose to follow his instincts.
Flux
Nero eyed Sigurd before speaking. "Hmph. Do what you will..." he muttered, before turning and walking to the Death Knight's body. He retrieved his sword with his left arm, awkwardly returning it to its sheathe.
Raindrop Valkyrie
"He isn't much fun is he?" The Crimson King asked, the Skull on the Tome took on a inquisitive look as he asked this. "Ah, a man after my own heart, well if I had one....and was still alive. Hmmm, Though, big and burly surely you can carry me, I mean a book wouldn't burden you too much more would it?" Ragnar
"Yes, y not? trust the lich disguise himself as a book. What's next, be friends with the gentleman?" Akuma wryly said. The Birdman was pretty annoyed and cross his arms."What are you trying to pull here?" He ask the talking grimoire. Raindrop Valkyrie
A small red arm came out of the little book and planted its self on the forehead of the skull. "How thick are you? Ragnar
"Im not easily convince" Akuma said. "Maybe im a bit too harsh on judging you quickly, after all this group is consist of a bird, an elf, a dwarf, an orc and a human. i'm sure a lich isn't much of a difference." Akuma paused "and without a doubt I trust my allies' decision but Im still keeping my eye on you." Akuma's eagle like eye gaze at the book. Raindrop Valkyrie
"Well at least you are giving me a chance, most people would have turn tail and run." The Crimson King said, as a smile spread across the little skull on the book. "Either way, I am sure you guys should get on your way We have spent quite a bit of extra time in this clearing.:" ((oh yea whoops, it is fine then. I always forget about that emote, and I really wish they would remove it sometimes, it is kinda a pain in my rear since I can't use a very common phrase without it popping up.)) Chim
“You sure aren’t popular, Boney,” Sigurd said still grinning. To be honest he didn’t care much about his companions opinions about this case. He had found himself a potential powerful enemy that could use legendary techniques. It was a rare case to find a foe like that and Sigurd wasn’t planning on letting the chance slip by to fight him. “I guess I’ll carry you,” he said poking the grimoire. “But you better behave or Akuma over there might try to eat you… Now before we go, I still have to find those old geezers back. Bjorn promised me some information...”
Raindrop Valkyrie
Orpheaus had finished attending to Brass at this time. He had gotten him stable, but he still couldn't walk. "Sigurd, I can get you Bjorn and Chauff once we get back, but I am going to need help to get Brass back, I created a stretcher already but it is still going to be tough to move him. We are going to need every available ounce of strength to get him back to town." he finished quickly. "And when we get back, I am leaving Passtrough, I have business I must attend to. Thanks for reminding me what I stand for, even if you hate what kind of warrior I am." he added as he turned to go back to Brass.
Zephyrus the Priestess
So they really were taking the red artifact back to the village. Hunter couldn't understand why the Wind Templar chose to trust the sinister object-- but, whatever. Most humans were like that anyway, and usually had their reasons. The wolf decided to only take action if that thing even came close to Helzebeth; for now, he would just keep careful watch. Raindrop Valkyrie
The grounds near Passtrough were strewn with bodies of both sides of the conflict. It was a rather humbling thing to see just how much destruction there was. The air was silent now, and it hung with a nasty tension. Was it really safe now? Would it ever be again? Not a soul other than the heros were on the battlefield and it made the trek back ever more eerie. Then the rain poured. Seeing as it was still early Winter, in the Shadowed Isles the rain had yet to turn to snow. It pattered into the ground with a rhythmic tempo. It collided with the hero's armour and clothes, making the tinkling of metal and the soft pats of leather ring out like an odd chorus. It was a melancholy song to march back too. It reminded them each of their beating heart, and how easily it could stop within an instant. The Crimson King was silent for the trip back, perhaps not wanted to speak of the destruction he caused to the people he was now traveling with. It was oddly respectful of him, not many a lich would care if they offended the Living. They carried Brass's limp body in silence, and even he didn't stir. It would be incredibly silent if not for the rain and the clinking of armour and the sound of walking. Upon reaching the gates the town was in an uproar. They cheered seeing the heros of the battle return. The Gates creaked open, revealing the townsfolk and the remaining militia celebrating what they could. Tomorrow would be the day to mourn all of those lost in the battle, for now everyone was just happy to still be alive. The heros met up once more in all the din all being reunited except for one. Jeneve was never found, it was unknown if she was killed during the battle or if she ran off during it. But it didn't matter, one Bearer of the Ash was gone. Orpheaus quickly greeted the heros again, Jupiter and the duo of Bjorn and Chauff in tow. He shoke Odin's hand, and told the Dwarf-Father he hoped he got the justice his son deserved. He then in turn said goodbye to each of the heros. Lastly, putting his hand on Sigurd's shoulder. "Thank you for everything, even if you hate me, you showed me why I must fight, even if you think my reason is wrong, I will not forget what you have done for me." and with that he turned to leave. He trudged out of town, not to be seen there again. "Sigurd, I believe I owe you something." Bjorn said. "I will take you to my friend in Nevermore and perhaps we can find out more about this Gentleman." "Aye, or find out nothing at all and waste all this time with the trip" added Chauff. "Are you ever positive?" Bjorn asked. "Nope." Chauff replied quickly. End of Chapter 2.
