Team Aqua vs Team Magma?

Which of the 2 teams is better in the long run? not talking good or bad, but who gives which pokemon? Do they give specific items?

Aqua Team: You get a Ponyta and a Carvanha.

Magma Team: You get a Chinchou and a Houndour.

Ponyta can also be found on route 1, while Houndour is found in the back of the (cleared out) Magma base at night, as far as i know.

So there are 2 questions that would decide your team choice:

-Do you want a Chinchou/Lanturn or a Carvanha?

-Which of the types do you want to fight, Fire or Water?

IMO, going for Team Aqua is best. You get Sharpedo with Speed Boost C:

Team magma. It's the only way to get Chinchou at the moment. All other pokemon obtainable though this quest line can be found later. Specifically for carvanha I believe you can get one by fishing in the team aqua base.

TEAM MAGMA ALL THE WAYYYYY!!!

When you get to 7th street(in the future) you can get Sunny Day first, by defeating the old lady. To get Rain Dance you'll have to battle the Aqua leader with stronger pokemon. If you choose Aqua it's just the switch.

Ponyta can also be found in route 1(lvl 45+). Carnahva's moveset isn't that good early on, but you can re-get Carnahva by getting the Good Rod(in the future) and going back to the Aqua hideout to and fish for one .

Chinchou you can't find(yet) in the game(in the wild). Houndoom isn't that bad for a Fire/Dark type.

In the end it doesn't matter what you choose because you end up, having the chance to get a Houndour, Canahva, Ponyta, Zorua(alley way event), and Murkrow(another alley way event). IF you would want ALL of the pokemon, then I would go with Team Magma so you can get that Chinchou!

I fought against team magma.. and now after beating the old lady I didnt get the rain dance tm.. can't even find magma leader again to get sunny day..

anything i'm missing??

It's more of a personal choice really, not one for the Pokemon. Eventually all of these Pokemon will be able to be found elsewhere, so unless you desperately want Ponyta/Chinchou right now then (as Houndour/Carvanha can be found almost immediately after resolving the first couple parts of the quest and Ponyta is on Route 1.. Chinchou can't be found anywhere else yet, but likely can be found soon) just pick whichever one you like or the one you don't want to fight.

Though I'd usually advocate for Team Magma, I find joining Team Aqua more handy if you intend on breeding early, since Ponyta has access to Flame Body. If you don't, however, you're gonna want to go with Magma, for that exclusive Chinchou. Everything else is obtainable either way.

Haha, no. You beat up one or the other and you reap different rewards depending on who your victim is. I personally say join Magma because like the others said, you can get the Pokemon Aqua gang gives later on--Chinchou and Houndour are currently one-time events.
