I was bored one day and decided to randomly talk to people in pokemon x. And this one guy in the snow town mentioned Lysandre and it got me thinking about the games plot as a whole and the villain team. In my opinion I think Lysandre had a lot of potential but it never got used very well. His whole goal seems to be doing genocide on everyone else besides him and his organization. And the world is getting worse, and people growing more selfish, and progress being halted. It sounded good on paper but was executed poorly. When Lysandre started to monologue about it and then cry like a bitch, I could not tell were he was coming from. I can see why Game Freak did this because they wanted to draw parallels between their story in the game and the problems a lot of people face in reality right now apparently. the problem is that within the pokemon universe it makes no damn sense. Now think about any pokemon game you played and remember how much space there is. especially in this game with its sprawling hills, gigantic fields of flowers ,and crystal clear waters. Then think to any NPC you talk to and they all spout the same shit about how they love pokemon this ,and pokemon that, or trying to get laid. There is no strife, no fighting, nobody is suffering, and the only people who cause any at all is team flare themselves. The main villains ideas for the world going to crap so he has to "start over" with a new one has no basis in the games reality, none at all. the closest thing is the war 3000 years ago but it never gets into any detail into why they were fighting or for what reason. I dont even get a back story into why he is acting like this and what caused him to think this way. And whats WORSE is that the game wants you to sympathize with the little bitch! They act is if his goals were noble and only his methods were questionable. Even after he get buried from by genocide attempt other characters express pity over the fact they could not see things the same way. Sadly I cant feel the same way because all I know about the guy in that his idea of fashion is dressing his minions up like Lady Gaga back up dancers, and he likes beauty.

But then again I am the greediest fucker around so what do I know? what do you guys think? am I missing something here or am I Asking/thinking to much.

Well, in the small post game there is with the detective quests and such you do get to kinda see into the evil part of the world with the orphan girl you meet and the thugs out there as well.

It's not much but even so when Team Flair were talking about the evil in this world I think GameFreak was trying to get you to think about the real world today, because that is the one thing we can all connect to.

I can't really say much about it but what the game has showed us but I will say that I've been there before. Although I didn't want to blow up the world and start it over because of the evil but because I was bored, so on and so forth.

I feel that the they did a good job on the plot but yes they did not get the message across as to why he was led the the thought to would have blown up the world and left a lot of back story out

I see what you mean. But even in the side quest it was team flare( the guy who looks like DR. Eggman) that caused the most trouble. The thugs were no different then thugs from other pokemon games except they had more personality. The whole side quest was better written and I felt more invested in it more than the whole main story. Plus the thugs and the orphan girl were fun I wish I had them as my friends through the adventure than the four one note, useless sidekicks we got.

The main story could've been better, in my opinion. I suppose GameFreak had it well written out, but as earlier mentioned in this thread, they did not get the message across well.

I did not do the side quest as I decided to nuzlocke the game straight after I did the Pokémon League, so I cannot tell what happened there.

Ah, X and Y's evil organization.....

For me, it just seemed like Team Flare was a series of multiple ideas spurred on by other parts of the game thrown together in order to hastily create a story, and as a result, it seemed very "messy".

Let's start with the bottom rung of Team Flare - The grunts. The people that spent their life's savings on being a Team Flare member. If you converse with these characters the recurring theme is "style". As stupid a cause as it sounds, it does mirror the importance "style" actually has in the games.

continuing upward we have the Admins, sporting contrasting white suits with orange insignia as opposed to the usual red with white embellishments. The biggest theme here is a tie between the importance of Lysandre and taking care of one's own hide. Well. We're getting somewhere here plot-wise, but the major point of the Admin's dialogue is to stress survival. If you do some reading between the lines, you will remember that AZ and his Floette also had to come to terms with this theme. However, the evil organization interprets this as a selfish and seemingly groundless reasoning for wiping out the Kalos region....Doesn't add up quite yet. Perhaps it will get better?

Unfortunately, it doesn't begin to come together with the most disappointing characters in the game - the Team Flare Scientists (or the four "boss-battle" chicks that are encountered multiple times throughout the game.) These scientists do raise interesting points if you walk into them, such as Mabel commenting that the player and Team Flare are after similar goals after giving you the Elevator Key. However, they don't provide much insight at all as to what Team Flare is trying to accomplish up-front, which I feel left me a little lost throughout the initial playthrough.

and finally, we have Lysandre himself. The man who is after a beautiful world....and if you don't put much thought into it...that's all you really get out of him too. The thing Lysandre notes is that overpopulation will lead to competition. He comes off as a rather communist thinker here, and -IF- you catch the reference, you finally have a little appreciation for the attempt at a story. However, we're left to equate captalism and competing for/hoarding resources to be just cause for firing some sort of ultimate weapon.

Secrecy, Survival, Style, and the quest for a Beautiful World. All thrown together in a mixed bag that requires analysis and historical attribution in order to see the arc Game Freak wanted to provide. The themes mirrored all the themes for the rest of the game, but it wasn't presented in a way the typical Pokemon player would understand and appreciate it.

...which in reality, is a bit of a shame, considering that the previous Generation brought all kinds of amazing story to the Pokemon Universe.
