Sutoratosu
Well, a day or two ago it hit me after I changed my name. Stratos the Sky Slayer... there could be a genuine story behind this... And here we are. no poll for this idea, unlike the Poke'-war, I knew what the conditions of this should be when it popped into my head. just checking to see if people would be interested in it. (And before anyone get's any ideas. no, I don't have vanity issues.) Let us begin... Conditions: the RP will be primarily Player character driven. Their Actions heavily influence the story and plot. For the most part I'd be providing the occasional narration for clarity and keeping order and organization. This will be a High-Dark Fantasy Genre of RP. the world might be surprisingly terrible in some places. Magick will for the most part be a lost art, with very few relics of knowledge remaining. No Leveling system. for the most part this will allow a lot more freedom and fluidity, as well as reduce the work load. a story of ends and means, Horrible actions justified with good reasons... the plot will be taking place in a world currently without a name, several hundred years after an Event known as "the Bleeding Sky" in which the largely worshiped ruler of the atmosphere was struck down by one sworn to his service. Several things changed when it fell, the skies turned scarlet, the mountains became inhospitable, the winds ceased forever, the sea's turned cold and forbidding. the land suffered and many died. still recovering from several of the effects of the "Bleeding Sky" the world has grown dark and hostile, the ability of Magick was all but forgotten, the inhabitants damn the one called the "Sky Slayer" with their every breath. in this fallen realm a group chosen by chance embark... well, that's pretty much an overveiw... Questions? Anyone Interested? Edited May 3, 2014 by Stratos

Sutoratosu
What's the quest? I don't want to go into to much detail, but: the overall goal is to either prevent, hasten, or do nothing about the second coming of the Fallen Ruler of the Atmosphere. how it ultimately ends is entirely based on character decisions the side one chooses is entirely up to them. they provide their own motivations, their own past, their own justifications. no one says that they nessacarilly have to do anything about it.... But it was killed the first time for a reason... And God knows what will happen if it returns... Edited May 3, 2014 by Stratos
Raindrop Valkyrie
Other than there being no Magic, how do you intend to make this different from Graterras? If it feels too samey I think it may get put to the wayside. (though without the magic I assume it would feel much different.). Who are we playing? Are we playing heros or Villians [or both]? Exactly how much sway do we have over the story? If this is a high fantasy I assume there will be a big bad. Will Evil characters work for the Big Bad, or are they separate entities of their own evil? (ignore if Villians aren't allowed or there is no Big Bad. If there is no Big Bad, you should also change this to a Low-Fantasy, it more accurately represents what is happening with the rp. This only because High Fantasies tend to have a Big Bad, hard to run one without them.) What Classes are available to characters? Is Divine Magic still available due to coming from the gods, unlike it's arcane counter-part? What Races are there for Players?

Is Divine Magic still available due to coming from the gods, unlike it's arcane counter-part? What Races are there for Players? All very good questions Hukuna I've taken special care with this idea since I knew that another high fantasy; Graterras, was around already How it will be unique: Magick has fallen far from where it once was. mages used to be common sights. ships of stone and light once flew across the skies, Men were once able to call forth beings from other plains to assist in warfare, Pillars of Crystal once lit the roads, there burned fires that could not be extinguished with water or sand, men were able to live beneath the sea's surface, people could communicate with each other tens of miles away within an instant, not even the laws of nature itself was safe from man's reach. Truly, it was a golden age... but a golden age built on lies and corruption, and at the cost of mankind's very soul... Now only the most well constructed, the most thoroughly crafted magick relics remain, and their power grows weaker with every passing day...not even divine magick has been spared from this fate, with the few relics of hollowed power resting in the hands of the Church. A backstory centered around the Theocracy of Cilothacism, which reigned supreme over the land without question to it's divine authority granted from the Lord of the Sky himself. a huge host of beast and pestulant creatures inspired by Mythologies from all across the ancient world. A world in which almost nothing is sacred. truly effective large governments are few and extremely far between. Most Villages and settlements either govern themselves with councils or elect to unite in protective alliances with one another. The commoner's focus is to simply survive another day. Honor and fealty are worth nearly nothing. the thing that decides a person's continued co-operation is what you can do for them. a corrupt, broken and utterly bitter religion lost technology. Swords that caught cut through solid steel and stone as if they were butter. Arrows that detonated on impact. even a fire powder capable of launching immense projectiles. Players will be playing both Villains and Heroes, which side they chose and whether or not they view themselves as it will be up to them. The story will be a good 70-85% influenced by the player characters actions. There is an ultimate evil to be confronted, Characters who chose to allign themselves with the darker end of the spectrum will have their own motivations, but their actions will ultimately end up serving the ends of forces far greater than themselves, whether they know it or not... overview of Classes available (this is just a Sample selection) Guardsmen- a basic warrior, mostly trained and employed in the defense of independent villages and towns. trained in basic weaponry such as sword and javelin, as well as shield, but can easily learn to use other arms. Mercenary- a wandering former soldier willing to work for anyone who offers them coin or a room for the night. trained in random armaments. Mercenaries could've been many things prior to choosing this life... A gaurd, an archer, a huntsmen... Hunter/Huntress- Individuals who make their living by hunting down monsters and animals alike. the sole few who are brave enough to still venture through the world's forest without safe-guard. often use spears, heavy bows, crossbows, and pikes. Archer- Soldiers trained to act as ranged guards against attacks, sniping down enemies with bows, heavy bows, heavy crossbows, Ballistas and slings. they are chosen from their peers because of their sharper than average Eyesight. Watcher- though the grand Theocracy has fallen long ago, the church still holds some sway in the land, oft times training young men and women to be their eyes and ears around the land. value confidentiality above all else. usage of knives and other various implements to deal death. Nisassa- The old language's word for "Hit-man or Hired killer". hired mostly by less than forthright individuals and deal out death with knives, swords, daggers, darts, and even poison. Thief- Individuals who chose to resort to petty theft, taking what they want and melding back into the shadows. often times are unarmed. High-way men/ Bandits- Theifs who have gained the courage to hit trade outpost and small villages and townships in force. Priest- An Agent and servant of the faith of the church. Delivering Sermons and parish services by day, and carrying out the churches will by night. (again these are very basic class examples available as the actua fulll list has yet to be completed.) The lone race available to players is Human. Edited May 3, 2014 by Stratos

Sutoratosu
Or ALLACORNS. ....just let me go use head smash against the wall real quick... Or shardminds. I'm afraid human only guys. it's a highly crucial element of the backstory and if I allow for players to be races other than Human, than the whole back bone of the RP pretty much will just fall apart before it can even begin
Raindrop Valkyrie
Since i am on a Nook currently typing out a well written respocne will be a pain in my behind. There is a lot Ihave to say, so be prepared. ((It is mostly my thoughts on your classes. I feel there is a bit too much overlap but i don't feel like typing that up on a nook. Hopefully I can get back you soon. Might even send another barrage of questions your way.))
rustytengo
ah so no candy colored god ponies how sad but yeah other races can do that if your not careful. though another option is to include different cultures of on race if you want variety anyway. but its your rp so yeah do whatever you want. Sutoratosu
^I will be going with cultures instead of separate races. I've also drafted up a world map detailing cultural and geographic regions. the world will consist of one major continent named "Rojamaris" and four lesser ones named "Varelus", "Akha-Tinora", "Veleeris", and "Serveli" Also, Allow me to restate, those classes listed are just very basing examples of what will be available, not nessacarilly the end all and be all of what will be offered as a choice of class, once I'm am done with the actual full list I will put it up here Edited May 3, 2014 by Stratos

Raindrop Valkyrie
The range isn't what I am concerned about, just that there is a lot of archetypes of 1 thing that aren't really another Class entirely. Like Thieves and Highwaymen don't need to be separate. They are very much the same thing just a different flavour. I suppose it is that way because you are trying to have variety in the class selection, to the point were things that normally are shoehorned into a wide Class umbrella in other RPs are full classes in this one. Just make sure Classes really have their own identies and aren't just. Oh, I am still a Thief, just in a different locale. That is really the only difference between a Highwayman, and a thief. That one is out and about, and one is more Urban. Basically what I am saying is, make sure there is a reason they are separate things, other than that they are just something in a different environment. Only other thing is make sure the Cultures are the same way, Make sure they are different to each other. We should feel that they have very different feelings and attitudes towards the world. I am doing this with every Human Culture in Graterras as well, and humans aren't the only race in that. It shows the importance of it, and that you need to make sure everything in your world has a fleshed out origin, a reason for being there. Remember, World Building in itself is an art form, and takes a lot to make a believable world, and interesting world. (So much so that I am thinking of writing up some stuff on this forum for it, I feel like we could use some resources for New Hosts, so that they can more easily set up their RPs, and get people into them. I would like to take a bit of the Beginner's Stress off of them.) Keep in mind, there are like 3 to 4 years of work in Graterras. That world is very detailed and has a lot to it. While the Story is a little more, Spur of the moment, the world building is very planned out. I know most of my world's past, and what caused it to be what it is this very day, when the players were dropped into my RP. Good luck man. If I am only grilling you on this so hard because I want to see you succeed. All those questions I asked are important, and there are many more I haven't asked. I want to make sure your world isn't flat, and has many dimensions to it. It needs to be an interesting place for people to explore. Also Acquie I may take you up on your offer. Though I would have to decide, how my character feels about slavery. Is he a regretful Owner? Or Does he really believe that they are lesser to him? Questions......So many Questions. I want to make sure your world isn't flat, and has many dimensions to it. It needs to be an interesting place for people to explore. I see the point on making sure that Classes and culture are diverse. I've actually already split up the main continent into seven different Geographic regions which will also double as Cultural regions, a few examples so far: The ZraZara -Split into two areas, The ZraZara Grass sea and the tundra of Zrazara, also known as South ZraZara and North ZraZara, respectively. The area is characterized for it's vast monster populations, overall cold weather and generous snowfall year round. The soil of this region is actually quite poor despite the fact that South ZraZara is covered in long grasses, which has led to the people inhabiting this region resorting to hunting down Monsters and other indigenous beast as the main method of obtaining sustenance, as Farming is an impractical method. ZraZaran's typically wear Clothing made out of or heavily incorporating the pelts of various monsters instead of plant fibers such as cotton as much of the rest of the Continent does, and were the first people to discover that various body parts of certain monsters could be used in armaments and for medicinal purposes. Despite being the most densely populated place on the continent, there are actually few towns or cities in the region, with most inhabitants comprising large villages, which then unite with one another in protective alliances. As life can be hard and sometimes very bitter and short here at times, the ZraZaran's are the second most devout members of the Cithaloc Faith. Warriors hailing from this region are oft times skilled in fighting while on horse-back. The Cradle - Made up of three lesser geographic areas, The Brizzano River Lands, The Kradus Wetlands, And the Kradus Fens, the Cradle has earned it's namesake due to the highly fertile soil here due to the many marshes and bogs in the area. with a rain season lasting for four months of the year, the people here have adapted a specialized type of agriculture by draining marshes and using the water to irrigate crops. The area is also known for it's aquatic based monsters. Towns are more common here than in the ZraZara, and most elect to unite into an over-arching trade alliance to help ensure crop yields as well as protection from the occasional raiding bandit party. Ever a region inhabited by rather superstitious persons, it has the second largest populace on the continent, and the third most devotion to the Cithaloc faith. Warriors hailing from here are highly adept at combat in wet conditions. I've also decided to have a series of "Core" or signature classes. Each Cultural region will have a signature class that is exclusive to it, two of what I have so far: (There will also be several "Generic classes, which will be available no matter which area one hails from.) Hunter- The ZraZara with terrible soil for Agriculture and a staggering monster monster population, It is no surprised that the elite warriors of the ZraZaran are Hunters. These Courageous young men and women specialize in the practice of hunting down and slaying a myriad of monsters and feral beast alike. With balanced physical attributes, the Hunter prefers closer range combat, able to wield both one and two-handed swords as well as short lances and spears (Four to five feet long) however they are also able to effectively utilize the short bow. They often ride on horse back in combat, and are the most adept at horse riding in the land. They prefer to use up to mid-weight armor, and see Shields more as just a hindrance in battle instead of an added layer of defense. Pighdars- The Cradle -With many Marshes, Bogs, Fens, Streams, and Rivers, those Warriors born and raised in the Cradle region are specialized in Aquatic Combat, able to move through thick, sucking mud, and waist deep water with the grace of an angel. they prefer to fight by using ranged tactics to ensnare their foes and then pull them in to eliminate them at close range. They utilize the Whip and the Weighted rope, the latter of which is often used to ensnare far-off enemies, as well as the Short Sword (1.5 to 2 feet in overall length). they've excellent stamina and agility, and prefer not to weigh themselves down more than is necessary, opting for only light-weight armor and no shield in combat. those are the two I have down so far. Well seeing as how this was just an interest check, I think I'm going to withdraw this Idea for now and continue working on it on the side along with my other RP, to get it more developed and ready to go for the day when it can get up and running. @Hukuna, Thank you for your valuable input and constructive critisism, which has helped me alot in this things development so far. I would like to PM you from time to time for help and pointers on this, If of course, That is alright with you. And also, feel free to ask more questions. I'm going to be looking forward to the finished product of this once I'm finally done.

(What I mean by that is folktales, stories about Old Forgotten battles etc.). Otherwise, it looks promising might definitely jump into it. Keep up the good work.
