CURIE
It was my 107th match in the single battle run of the Battle Masion in Pokemon X version. The opponent sent out a Gallade, and as usual, I sent out Big Mamma, the (mega) Kangaskahn. Naturally, I thought "Base 100 speed beats base 80 speed", and went mega to use Return and 1-shot it. But then, before Big Mamma could use Return, the Gallade outsped her to use Close Combat and knock her out in one hit. I still ended up winning the battle (Sleep Talk Milotic + Poison Heal Gliscor = Trolololol), but I was obviously still pretty suspicious, enough to do my own research. Now first of all, keep in mind that my mega Big Mamma has a speed stat of 152 at level 50, the level that all Battle Masion Pokemon are set to. Now let's see what Bulbapedia says about Gallade's speed: Base Speed: 80 Minimum-Maximum speed at level 50: 76-145 So, even with a perfect speed IV and being fully EV trained in Speed and even with a beneficial nature, a Gallade will never be more than 7 points slower than my mega Kangaskahn. Yet here we are, watching one outspeed her. Hey, maybe Bulbapedia got it wrong, maybe it's higher-nope, the other places I look all say the same thing. As I mentioned earlier, this was the very first turn of the battle, so no "complications" could have happened. No held item activated on him, so no Quick Claw. And he used Psyco Cut in the next turn against the aforementioned Poison Heal Gliscor, so no Choice Scarf. The only explanation I can come up with is that the game was cheating on me. And I STILL beat it! Edited May 4, 2014 by Eagleby18
Ukyn1993
clearly, the game cheated. Still won though, so...haha jokes on Game Freak.
Arkhi
Quick claw?
CURIE
Quick claw? In X and Y, when the Quick Claw activates, there's a flash of light around the Pokemon and the game says "The Quick Claw let (name) move first!" As i mentioned, no item at all activated on that Gallade.
Arkhi
Well, then it would seem the game decided to cheap out on you.
Developers Voctrode Posted May 4, 2014 Developers Share Posted May 4, 2014 Since movement order is determined before any moves are used (except changes due to Quash and After You), the Pokémon's new Speed or Ability will not affect movement order on the turn during which it Mega Evolves. From Bulbapedia, so it only had 90 base speed when you attacked, so it's a possible out speed.
Magus
Welcome to the battle maison, where all the trainers cheat and don't give a quacking duck about it.
CURIE
From Bulbapedia, so it only had 90 base speed when you attacked, so it's a possible out speed. Well, Big Mamma before going mega has a speed of 142, so yeah, I guess it MIGHT be done if the Gallade had perfect speed IVs, full Speed EVs, and a speed-enhancing nature. But that speed thing makes mega Garchomp even more OP, on the first turn he doesn't even get the speed nerf!

Thats where the problem lies on the first turn of mega evolution the pokemon's speed will be of its normal form aka the gallade had max speed ivs and evs so that it had 145 compared to your Big mamma And yeah the Battle maison is a ******* D*** and doesnt giva a crap about it there are Horror stories going around of defeats on super streaks to hax like endless battle INSIDE the battle maison it happened to me and the second i realized that i forfeit cause i aint going to let that thing infinitly heal me as its partner pokemon( it was a doubles battle streak) pummeled me in to oblivion. oh The pain of seeing my Multiscale 252 Attack and defence 4hp ev'd dragonite with assault vest go down to a machamp WITHOUT ice punch Edited May 4, 2014 by Azery123
