Flux
It is the year 2051. One year ago, the first Pillar arose. Bursting through the ground in the middle of New York City, it was the beginning of the events that would change the world. Soon after the pillar's arrival, certain people began developing supernatural powers. These people were a threat. The government watches them, tracks them, and makes sure these people will no longer threaten society, using whatever means are necessary. These people are the Awakened. Despite the promise of their power, it is often too much. Some are overtaken, killed by their own power. Others are driven mad. Only a small fragment of the few people with these powers can control them. You are one such person. Being tracked and chased by the government, it has been all you can do to survive. They know your name, where you lived, everything about you. You have been forced to leave whatever family you had, living a life on the run. Some of you seek revenge. Others simply want the peaceful life they used to have. But all of you share the same urge: you want to go to the Pillar, the birth of all this madness. Surrounded by a giant wall and contained by the government, it draws you, urges you to make your way there. It's light reaches infinitely into the sky, a permanent reminder of what you seek. For with the Pillar, there are answers. Answers that only the highest members of the government might know, if even they can decipher them. Things to know This RP takes place in the near(ish) future. There are minor advancements in technology, but most of the military and police to still use the familiar modern-day weaponry. There will be some advanced technology in use though. This RP will contain descriptive violence, so be aware of that when you join. Rules 1. Obey the forum rules Self-Explanatory. Subforum rules are found here: http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5373 2. No Mary-Sueing For those who don’t know, a “Mary-Sue” is basically a character without flaws. They are the best fighter, they never lose, they have the perfect attitude, they are loved by the townspeople, they are immortal, they are a member of a secret organization whose goal is to take over the storyline of my RP. Basically, they’re no fun for anyone to RP with. Don’t go over the top with your character, give them some flaws, and we’ll be fine. 3. Respect My Judgment As the head of this RP, I will be playing a large part in where the story goes. There will be NPCs under my control that you meet along the way. Please refrain from making characters introduced by me say or do anything in your post. People will be injured, characters may die. I will try not to kill characters unless necessary, so if your character dies, it’s probably either because you weren’t active, or I have some way for them to revive you. I may post certain things happening to your character. If so, it is probably for the good of the story. Go with the flow. 4. No Bunnying Bunnying is playing somebody else’s character in your posts. DO NOT make other players characters say or do anything AT ALL. You don’t know how the character would react and frankly, it’s annoying when people control your character. DO NOT assume anything about another characters player unless they SPECIFICALLY STATED IT in their post. This includes their abilities, current location, emotions, thoughts, opinions, anything. Try to avoid bunnying the NPCs that I have specifically named as well. 5. No meta-gaming Meta-gaming is when your character knows things they they would have no possible way of knowing in the RP setting. There are some things I introduce to you purely for your own knowledge, but do not assume your character will know these things unless it makes sense. Use common sense, and if you can't remember whether your character should know something, don't be afraid to look back through the pages or ask me. That's all I can think of now. If you guys think of anything that you feel should be on here, please feel free to post it. Character Application Character Name: Gender: Age: Ability of the character: (Please be creative with these. The more specific your power is, the more fun and interesting it will be for everyone in the RP. For example, rather than having the ability to control electricity, perhaps you can only send electricity through direct or near-direct contact with a conductor. (The human body is a great conductor by the way...) This will cause you to think more about your course of action, which I think will add more to the depth of the RP. I'm not saying you NEED to do this, but I think it will be more fun for you and everyone else if you do.) Appearance: A short description of how your character looks and what they wear. Personality: Include a short description of your character's attitude. Background: Basically a short history of your characters life before the Pillar, and the events following. The most important thing to note here is that ALL CHARACTERS SHOULD HAVE MADE SOME PUBLIC DISPLAY OF THEIR POWER. Make sure to include this in detail in your background. It is how the government was alerted to you in the first place. That's all for now, I believe. I may have forgotten something important, so let me know if you find anything. There will likely be updates to this post, but I'll try to let you know about any major changes. That being said, let the RP begin! He along with the rest of his community branded them as demons and shunned them, that is until one day a car came straight at him, and then passed right through him. Jude saw a nearby medieval store, snuck in grabbed a sword, then slaughtered the military officers. Since then Jude has come to the realization that is he and the others with powers that are truly God's chosen people and he has made his best attempt to murder anyone who speaks out against super-powered people. Jude has murdered senators, church officials, high ranking political officers, just about anyone that speaks out against his people, going so far as to even murder a Governor while he made a speech against super-powered people on national television. Because of his flashy methods he has quickly earned himself a reputation, and is viewed as a high priority fugitive by the military, though the public does not know his true identity and they only know him by what he calls himself, The Right Hand of God. Kenneth Holmes (K_H) Character Name: Kenneth Holmes Gender: male Ability of the Character: can manipulate an Energy field generated by living things called "Aura", but is only able to do it in the form of a short-lived Barrier, a small Sphere, or a thin Beam. however, he can only form a barrier around himself, and his usage of Spheres and Beams is limited to 10 feet away (unless he's holding or wearing a Quartz Crystal, which allows him to form a Barrier around up to two other people, and increases his Sphere and Beam range from 10 feet to 100 yards.) Appearance: tall, short brown hair, blue eyes, somewhat thin, wears a turquoise T-shirt combined with Blue Jeans and a Segmented Bracelet made of Turquoise. When he realized what he'd just done, he ran out of there, leaving the crowd stunned at the events that had just happened, and evading the Police who would want to capture him. Viktor Grimes (Hukuna) Name: Viktor Grimes a.k.a The Crimson Tide Gender: Male Ability of the Character: Blood Manipulation. Viktor can control the flow of blood of himself and others. He can clot blood to stop bleeding or to all out kill someone. He can also cause his own blood to boil increasing his physical power, but rapidly ripping his own body apart. He can fire his own blood at enemies as well, also cannibalizing his own body to do so. To affect others Viktor must have a piece of Pure Iron. It wears down with every use, the more powerful effect he uses the more of the Iron will be destroyed. His personal powers destroy his own body, so they do not also cannibalize the iron. This ability cannot effect things without blood, takes an awful long time to recover from Blood Boiling. Other Awakened are much more resistant to his abilities, but not entirely immune. Viktor can also use the Iron in his own blood, but it is even more dangerous than just using his abilities on himself. (basically, His powers need Iron to function, they will first take from any Iron objects he has, then will take from the Iron in his own blood. However, the powers that effect his own body only ever use the Iron in his own blood.) Appearance: Thin, 6'3 ft tall, and ragged. Full Beard, and wild untrimmed Black Hair. Otherwise very quiet, a plotter, very willing to wait to get his revenge. "Live to fight another day, but never forget what they have stolen from you." Backstory: Viktor used to be a low-level Tac-team Leader in the Swat around 20 years ago, way before the Pillar incident. After being discharged after a Botched job that ended in his entire squad being killed, he was down on his luck to say the least. In an instant he was all but homeless, he spent many years as a fisherman in a local village. In poverty, he had time to lament the fall of his comrades, and how he led them to their deaths. He wondered how his family was doing, as he had left them. He wasn't homeless because he was forced to be, he was because he couldn't bear to show his face to his wife or kid. Viktor knew he wouldn't be welcome there, having been careless with the lives of others. He just hoped that his family was okay. After hearing about the Pillar incident Viktor thought of an idea. Perhaps he could redeem himself. He looked to join up with the government forces rounding up the Awakened as they were being called. He encountered a recruiter that remembered who he was however. It was the son of one of the men he killed. trying to take justice into his own hands the Recruiter pulled his handgun, he didn't care if lost his job, if he killed Viktor, the man who killed his father and got away with it. Out of instinct, Viktor threw his hands out in front of him in a feeble attempt to block the bullet. However, it never came. The man fell to the ground, as a blood vessel in his head had randomly burst, spraying blood all around the room. Viktor couldn't believe what had happened. He didn't even notice, the blood pouring from a new wound in his side. He ran, blinded by his fear, as people around the office saw him run out the door trailing blood in his wake. And from that day, he was on the run. ((Just so you guys know, the officer guy isn't dead, just lost a lot of blood and passed out, VIktor would have been way worse off if he killed him.)) Anver Dunn (Stratos) Character Name: Anver Dunn Gender: Male Ability of the character: Thermokenesis: Anver can manipulate the Temprature in the air, as well as some objects if he is in direct physical contact with them, and is highly resistant to hot and colder tempratures; though, he still has a limit at which either one will become unbearable even for him, which in turn also limits how hot or cold he can make the air within close range to himself. additionaly, the farther away the target, the more concentration it will take for him to manipulate the temperature around it. there is a limit to the range of his power. Background: Anver was a very powerfull CEO of a major corporation before the Pillar incident, with connections in many places. He was in time square on his way to a merger conference when the Pillar broke through the ground. He thought nothing more of it than some strange phenomenon at the moment. Hurrying to make the conference in time. Several days later, a celebratory dinner party is held for the success of the merger. As CEO, he was due to speak during the event, however when he approached the podium, he noticed a layer of frost developing on it, which was out off place as the whole pavillion was kept at Room Temperature. As he got deeper into his speech however, more and more people began to show discomfort at the temperature in the room, many of them pulling on their coats to stay warm. Anver himself felt no discomfort however, and continued his speech. by the time he had finished however, Everyone had left the room to take shelter outside where it was quite warmer. a layer of frost covered every surface, including Anver's clothing, and the air was frigid and dry. as his speech was scheduled to close the party, the event was now over, Anver went home. One night however, Sirens and flashing lights are outside his appartment building. in the corridor he can see several men in SWAT unifroms with weapons drawn and trained on the door. knowing they were there for him, he handed his wife complete control of the family accounts, packs some cash and a bag of supplies, and escapes down the old Fire Escape just as the SWAT operatives break the door down. he spends the night in the refuge of an old business partner who was sympathetic. the following morning, he sees his face on a FBI wanted list alongside many others. he knows that for whatever reason, he's now a fugitive. Lucius "Lux" Jet (Jory) Name: Lucius "Lux" Jett (A.K.A. "Photon") he Gender: Male Character Ability: Photokinesis, also known as the manipulation of light. Lux possesses the ability to focus and redirect light, provided he has a light source. He can manipulate sunlight, moonlight, and artificial light, but the brighter the source the stronger his abilities grow. He also possesses the ability to "steal" the light from an area and hold it for up to 24 hours. However, stored light experiences exponential decay in terms of both power and volume and is insignificant after 24 hours. Lucius is most powerful outdoors during the day. He excels in combat when he can stay at range. His focused light rays, which are fired from his fingertips (usually his index and middle fingers while he makes a "gun" shape) can melt metal and easily scorch flesh if he has access to direct sunlight. Appearance: Leanly built, stands at around 5'9". Has extremely blond hair and startling orange eyes. Favors sneakers, jeans, and a hoodie. Age: 19 Background: Lucius was always a pretty average guy. He was of average height and had pretty average brown eyes and hair. After high school, Lux took a year off and decided that he wanted to travel. However, he never got the chance. On the day the first Pillar sprung out of the ground, Lux was doing his normal home routine; that is to say, he was going to Chipotle for breakfast. Once he acquired his food log, Lucius began to walk downtown. Suddenly, he heard people screaming and talking. He looked to his right, where people were pointing, and nearly dropped his burrito. Deciding he wanted absolutely nothing to do with something like that, Lucius went home to his parents' place. A few weeks later, Lucius was sitting in a subway car by himself. Two men got on at a stop that was roughly halfway between Lux's starting point and the station near his home. They were both rather large and hooded, but Lucius paid them no mind, continuing to listen to music on his iPod. One of them strode cockily up to the lean teenager and snatched his iPod out of his hands. This caught Lucius's attention. The men pulled him out of his seat and began shoving him around. Lux told them to stop, but the two men wouldn't listen. Suddenly, something snapped inside Lux. He closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. When he opened his eyes, he couldn't see anything. His first thought was, Am I blind? His question was answered when the men began to panic, asking what had happened to the lights. Similar screams and confused shouts could be heard all the way down the train as it pulled into the station. Lux's eyes widened and he stumbled out of the car the moment they stopped moving. Lucius walked over to a police officer, pleading with him to help, but the officer turned away from him, shielded his eyes, and backed away. The crowded platform seemed to be no obstacle for Lux, as the mob of commuters stared at him and took steps away from him. The teenager looked down at his hands. He was glowing a bright white. From so close, it hurt his eyes to look at himself. He looked helplessly toward the crowd. "Someone help me! Please!" he pleaded as the train pulled away, taking the muggers someplace else. "Please!" he shouted again. "I don't know what's happening to me!" A bright flash, and then nothing. Sunlight coming in through the window woke him. He was in his own bed, a man in a suit sitting near him. "You're going to be taken for study, Lucius," he said quietly as he saw the teenager's eyes open. "We're going to see what makes you tick." Lucius recoiled, then remembered what had happened earlier. He stood up and walked to the window, looking out over the streets of the city. The sunlight warmed him. It seemed inviting, somehow. The man walked up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder. "It's time to go, Lucius." The teenager turned his head. "Yes. It is." He closed his eyes and felt the light going through him. Then, he opened his palms. A bright light flashed, disorienting both Lucius and the suited man. However, Lux recovered first and ran out his bedroom door, jamming it shut with a chair. He ran out of the apartment and out into the street, and hasn't stopped running since. Keaton Aome (Arkhidon) Character Name: Keaton Aome Gender: Male Age: 19 Ability of the character: An unparalleled level of quick thought and calculations. For example, if faced with danger, it could take Keaton only a second or two to come up with a solution. Appearance: Keaton is rather short, just hitting five feet four inches in height and is about 120 pounds, giving him a lean appearance. He wears black tennis shoes, blue jeans, and a dull blue button-down to compliment his dark (but not vivid) blue eyes. Personality: Keaton is always in a good mood, open to the numerous friends he has. He's supportive, intelligent, and analytical. However, if he is forced to do something with someone who doesn't know what they're doing, he gets into a nasty mood. He prefers working alone to benefit his friends. In short, he's a friendly brainiac. Background: Working alongside his father, an arms merchant, Keaton had talent with designing guns that delivered the most lethal shots with the smallest bullets, allowing for tons of cartridges and shells within a magazine. His latest design, while not yet created, could hold a magazine of seventy shots. It would take very few shots to do serious damage. However, it is not physically made and still has to be 3D printed. The morning that he finished the design and prepared to print it, men in black uniforms arrested Keaton's father, prompting the men to take him as a foster child. Instead, he grabbed the gun he always had holstered, shot one in the shoulder, grabbed his phone, plenty of magazines, and went through the basement, eventually finding his way to the subway, where he hid some invaluable belongings for later. Keaton in the subway, contracted this ability by attempting to wire his phone to the facilities holding The Pillar.Additional Info: (To summarize what Keaton has on him) Keaton currently carries one gun: one a large-magazine small-damage pistol (mainly used to incapacitate his enemies without killing them) with plenty of ammunition. He also has his phone, which he designed himself, with unlimited life (AWESOME) and connection at all times due to the upgrade of cell power in the new decade. But once she gets to know people they find out that she is actually a intelligent and cleaver girl who has a bit of dark sense of humor. She likes reading H.P. Lovecraft books, and she sees her self as a bit of a write though most of its actually extremely simplistic and archetypal and she has a sweet tooth with grape flavored stuff. Background: Born the youngest of of two daughters and raised to be seen but not heard unless addressed. Alice Feinstein (Snap Crackle Pop) Character Name: Alice FeinsteinGender: FemaleAge: 18Ability of the character: Alice has the ability to absorb and manipulate energy, although, it is within a limited range, the farther away, the weaker and less accurate her powers are. She can solidify it so it's razor sharp or absorb it to heal minor scratches and nicks. She has a bit of difficulty regulating it and controlling it, however, and if she uses it, she is in risk of absorbing too much or running out of energy, both of which have pretty bad consequences so she is actively practising it so that she can effectively use it in a survival situation. Since she can solidify the energy, she can use it as a way to lift or move things or stop something from falling or moving. It's very taxing on her body though, and if she is extremely mad, worried or annoyed, her powers might go a bit hay wire and act out on small things around her.Appearance: Being short for her age, she stands at 5'2 and is generally small in size, so she's often mistaken to be much younger than she actually is. She's not particularly distinctive, she's slightly fox-faced with long black hair that is often tied back in a low ponytail. If not for her mismatched eyes she'd be pretty forgettable, her left eye being a very dark grey-blue and her right eye pale greyish green but it's hard to notice as she keeps her bangs covering her right eye. She wears a red shirt under a longish black jacket paired with blue jeans and medium length leather boots. She keeps a old pocket watch on a long silver chain around her neck and under her shirt.Personality: Alice is pretty quiet and is more inclined to watch and listen than participate in most things, despite this, she enjoys playing tricks on people like swapping the salt with the sugar. She finds it even more amusing as most people would not suspect it to be her doing. She is level headed and very smart, she also has a knack for seeing patterns, if something manages to shake her, however, she is often deeply effected. Alice has a tendency to avoid her own personal problems and often tries to help the people she knows and likes. She doesn't handle pressure very well and can make poor choices if she's emotionally high strung. She also has a lot of silly quirks and fears, and she often starts laughing out of the blue at a thought that occurs to her or as a compensation method. In a way, she is abnormally mature for her age and in another way, she is very immature and childish. Background: Alice had a pretty good life, had a good family and was financially wealthy, she also was very close to her identical twin, Elizabeth. About 3 days after the tower rose, she and her sister were caught up in a armed robbery at a jewelry shop and they, along with the others in the store at the time, were taken as hostages. The robber there was an Awakened and he had lost all sanity. Elizabeth provoked him and in response, the robber killed her with his electrical manipulation abilities and thus killed her. Alice, for understandable reasons, snapped and, without meaning to or knowing what she did at first, created a wall of energy gathered from the electricity and forced him against the wall on the far side of the room, knocking him out. She ran out of the store and did not look back, she's constantly on the run. Important NPCs Zweiss Character Name: Zweiss Gender: Male Age: Mid 20s Ability of the character: Gravity control. So far he has shown the ability to increase the influence of gravity in a large area around him. He has also shown the ability to target and change the influence of gravity on individual objects. Appearance: Zweiss is regal in appearance, bearing a chiseled jawline and handsome face. His emerald green eyes offset his dark brown hair, which is parted from the center and hangs in two long locks in the front, one on either side of his face. His hair is fairly long, reaching down to the tops of his shoulders. Zweiss wears a form fitting, dark blue coat that flares out towards the bottom and reaches almost ground level. He wears it open in front, the collar jutted out on either side of his jaw. The coat is covered in golden embroidery, and the shirt underneath is a frilled white dress shirt. A white cravat is tucked into the shirt, hanging down over his chest. His hands are covered by a pair of stark white gloves and his legs by black pants and boots. Personality: Zweiss is generally a man of few words, but when the need arises, he can become one of the most charismatic speakers there is. He more often than not spends his time brooding, presenting himself to the members of Utopia only when he feels it is of utmost importance, otherwise leaving the daily runnings to Alister. Zweiss carries a strong determination with him, and his eyes speak of volumes of power. Background/Info we know: Zweiss is almost always followed by a young girl, Kiri. He has shown some attachment to her, though their relationship is unclear. He is the head of Utopia, the largest group of gathered Awakened whose goal has been announced to be "the destruction of all without abilities in order to create a world that exists on a higher plane." While the goal of the organization is presented as removing all non-Awakened, Zweiss has shown mercy on many, and perhaps even reluctance to fulfill such a duty. This presents questions as to whether or not that is the true goal of Utopia. Edited August 2, 2015 by Flux

Chevaleresse
Character Name: Allen Schmidt Gender: Male Ability of the character: Can warp spacetime to a small degree; enough to essentially warp short distances or move quickly a la Star Trek's warp drive. However, tearing rifts in spacetime, however small, releases radiation. Appearance: Blonde, fairly tall. Not the most fit person, though running from the government has improved that. Wears khaki pants combined with a white tee and an overshirt. Personality: Friendly. Willing to try things most people wouldn't; his foolhardiness has only increased due to his ability. Smarter than he first appears, though he doesn't always utilize his brains. Has a need to constantly be moving. Likes people, but cannot stand any form of mistreatment of himself or others. Holds grudges. Background: Allen drifted from job to job, never really finding a place he felt like settling for more than a few months. He did manage to get a degree before leaving college, so each job had fairly good pay, but none were ever satisfying. He was on the way to yet another job interview on the day the pillars rose. A runaway car had careened toward the taxi he was in, and before he knew it he was on the pavement a few feet away, completely unharmed, while the taxi was a smoking ruin. Having played plenty of games involving ordinary people developing special powers, he ran off at an inhuman speed, evading the dazed police forces that he thought might want to capture him. Supernovae
Character Name: Jude McKelvin (A.K.A. The Right Hand of God) Gender: Male Ability of the character: Intangibility. Jude can pass through walls, let bullets pass through his body, etc. Think more of a suped up Kitty Pride, however while he is in his Intangibility state only HE is intangible so he can't make anybody else intangible. Age: 24 Appearance: Tall, fit, with a scar on his left cheek. He wears a dark cloak and sunglasses to conceal his appearance. Also carries a broad sword that he often has concealed in his cloak. Personality: Jude is of the belief that those that have been given powers have been given gifts from God. He also believes that those who do not have these powers have been deemed weak by God, and as such he believes it is God's will that he cut them down. Background: Jude was just another small town religious boy from Kansas when he first heard about the super-powered humans. He along with the rest of his community branded them as demons and shunned them, that is until one day a car came straight at him, and then passed right through him. After that he fled his town in exile, cursing his existence and living in shame. Then one day a group of military officers were harassing a small group of super-powered humans. Just let me know if that's a little too much, I didn't know if I would be taking it to far or not, but I definitely want to play as an assassin type who has a bit of Magneto in him. K_H
Character Name: Kenneth Holmes Gender: male Ability of the Character: can manipulate an Energy field generated by living things called "Aura", but is only able to do it in the form of a short-lived Barrier, a small Sphere, or a thin Beam. however, he can only form a barrier around himself, and his usage of Spheres and Beams is limited to 10 feet away (unless he's holding or wearing a Quartz Crystal, which allows him to form a Barrier around up to two other people, and increases his Sphere and Beam range from 10 feet to 100 yards.) Appearance: tall, short brown hair, blue eyes, somewhat thin, wears a turquoise T-shirt combined with Blue Jeans and a Segmented Bracelet made of Turquoise. Personality: slightly mischievous, somewhat smart, and friendly, but a little mistrustful at first. He's willing to do things that might seem a little dangerous, but he can see when it's not reasonable to continue. He hates the mistreatment of others, and if you get him angry, Look Out! he's much more temperamental, quick-to-fight, and hot-headed when he's angry. he can hold a grudge against another person for quite a long time, too. Backstory: Kenny was a quiet person before the Pillar Incident, and on the day the Pillar first rose, he was nearly hit by the Pillar when it shot up. A couple of days later, he was nearly hit by a Foul Ball in a Baseball Game, and braced for impact when the Ball was coming right at him, unknowingly raising a Barrier between him and the Ball. When he realized what he'd just done, he ran out of there, leaving the crowd stunned at the events that had just happened, and evading the Police who would want to capture him. Raindrop Valkyrie
Name: Viktor Grimes a.k.a The Crimson Tide Gender: Male Ability of the Character: Blood Manipulation. One Green Eye (left), One Red Eye (Right). Brown Trench Coat, with Black Jeans. Hands wrapped in grimy bandages, not for wounds, but to make the Iron less rough on his hands. Carries a few concealed Handguns, and a Uzi. Age: 47 Personality: Aloof, tries to not let others get to close to him, as he has a tendency to end up leading them to their demise. ((Just so you guys know, the officer guy isn't dead, just lost a lot of blood and passed out, VIktor would have been way worse off if he killed him.)) Sutoratosu
Character Name: Anver Dunn Gender: Male Ability of the character: Thermokinesis Brace yourself... a long explaination is coming Anver's Stated ability is Thermo-Kinesis, or the manipulation/ creation of Thermal Energy. While this is "correct" in a sense, in truth his real power is a technically Particle Manipulation, controlling atoms or molecules at the most basic level. How Anver's True power though, Particle Manipulation, Manifests itself iand how it functions is what makes calling it "Thermo-Kinesis" instead still correct to a degree. First, let us ask ourselves, what is "Temperature"? It is the form of Kinetic energy between Particles at an Atomic or Molecular level; the greater the movement of these particles, the greater the Thermal Energy produced, and vica-versa. the product of this motion, "Heat", is simply internal thermal energy that flows from one place to another; in other words, it is energy in transit. This brings us to our main point: Anver's real ability, Particle Manipulation, Manifests itself as him being able to subsequently control the movements of particles around him, he can either speed them up or slow them down, in turn either raising or decreasing temperature. This is the central basis of how he is able to do what he does. It still goes deeper, however. Anver is able to influence the particle motions in the air around him without having to actually be in the vicinity of the air he's manipulating, ergo, it serves as both a close and long ranged ability, the only real difference in the distance being that the farther away, the more focus Anver needs to exert on the Molecules in the air in order to speed up or slow down their motion. His influence over the molecules of Liquids works in a very similar manner, like with air, he does not have to be in the actual vicinity of the liquid in order to manipulate the Particle Motion. Unlike air, however, heat in liquids is capable of much faster transfer from one molecule to another due to the particles of a liquid being closer together than with Gases, and as such, him having to manipulate Liquids that are far away does not take as much focus as it would for manipulating air that was the same distance from him, so long as he was able to work his over to that spot by passing the influence along from one molecule to another. For example, say he's at a lake and his target is about 300 feet away in the center of the water's surface. Now, if they were on dry land, and the target surrounded by air instead of H2O, Anver would have to focus more than he would have to with the water, because the spacing of the air particles is too far to effectively conduct the same motion transfer he can with water. but since the target is in the lake, he can manipulate temperature far more easily simply initiating either a super boil or deep freeze from where he is at the water's front, and then spreading it out from one particle to another over time, effectively freezing or boiling the whole body of water. it should be noted that the chemistry of Human blood however, prevents him from being able to directly exert control of the particles in it effectively even with this principle (but the same can't be said for animals...). His influence over the particle motion of Solids, however, does require that he be in the vicinity of, if not have direct contact with, the object which he is trying to influence in order to manipulate it's temperature. He is not able to directly raise or lower their heat values from a ranged distance as he is with Liquid or Gaseous states of matter. However, when he is in vicinity and even more so when he can have direct contact with the thing, he can exert control of the Motion of the particles with far less concentration and focus then he needs for either Liquids or Gases. In addition, like with Liquids, the atoms of Solids are far closer together than liquids or gases, and as such he is able to conduct direct transfer of motion from one particle to another, which in other words means, if anything is touching the solid he is, he can by extension of the above mentioned principle influence the heat or cold of that object as well by spreading it. Onwards to techniques now. With his influence over the molecular motion of the air, He is able to take advantage of the "Warmer air rises above colder air" principle, and effectively move air to or from one location to another by exploiting it, resulting in him being capable of sending super heated or super chilled blasts of air hurtling at targets, which more or less serves as a main combat option for him. Another option is to simply manipulate the particle motion of the air directly around his targets and either burning them by super heating it or freezing them solid by super chilling it. Another possibility is creating thermal barriers or walls of superheated or Supercooled air which could make humans, certain objects, and other organisms passing through it impossible without sustaining heavy damage and injury/ being burned up or frozen solid. A possible application for Close range could be him manipulating the particles around his fists or body and engaging in CQC (Close quarters combat) with his hands or other limbs cloaked in a layer of super burning or freezing air. Additionally, if he is able to physically get his hands on an assailant, he could easily... well, from my explanation thus far, I don't think I need to go into very much detail on what could happen in that situation. His ability also allows him to raise the temperature of things to flash point, or the point at which the burn, or to freeze point, which is self explanatory. As stated before, his bodily limit for heating is 3410 Degrees Celsius (6170 Degrees Farenheit) and his bodily limit for freezing is -273.51 Degrees Celsius (-459.67 Degrees Fahrenheit). Due to Anver's persona however, the more powerful or "Extremes" of his abilities combat uses, such as Temperature CQC or Barriers, will not be drawn onoffensively very often due to self restraint in a fight, as already shown in multiple cases in the IC so far, Anver somewhat dislikes using Absolute force in a fight, preferring to just immobilized, hinder, or incapacitate his foe rather than killing them, even when he is not using his powers (Early on in chapter one, when the PCs were each separate still and fleeing the cops, Anver intentionally aimed for limbs with the shot he fired while moving through an alley way, wounding a cop in the outer thigh.) Basically, his main aim is for the most part to stop the fight or take away the other parties ability to continue rather than flat out kill his enemies... unless, of course, they fight for utopia (Which I will begin to get deeper into showing his eventual complete lack of restraint against their operatives in the future) or they directly and actively threaten the people he cares about, in which cases he will do whatever he feels most necessary first, and worry about any restraint second. And there's my long, long explanation, soldiers. Appearance: African american male, 5ft 9in tall. very short black hair. cleanly maintained beard. dark brown eyes. Wears a black t-shirt beneath a dark grey blazer, with old jeans and a pair of timber-land boots. wears a silver watch on his wrist and his wedding ring on his hand. Fit, but not remarkably muscular. quite presentable. Age: 34 Personality: intelligent. calm and collected most of the time, though he can be a little arrogant at times, but overall a good man. He is highly protective and loyal of those he cares about. his trust is hard to earn, but once you have it, you've got it for good. he's got a short fuse when the welfare of people he cares about is in jeopardy, especially that of his two young daughters. Several days later however, two men in black show up at his door saying only that he has been "Noted and now thoroughly watched." A month goes by and Anver begins to hear cases of strange occurrences like his own. the strange shifts in temperature continues where Anver is present. He tries to go about his routine as usual, but can't help but notice several black cars always somewhere in his vicinity. he begins to become slightly paranoid and fearing for his family, as he's heard stories of what happen to certain people who've had occurences like him. And on that day, he began running and hiding, most of his old connections refuse to assist him due to his wanted status, but some are willing to turn a blind Eye to that and help him for old times sake... the government seems to be stepping up the effort with searching for wanted individuals... but unfortunately for them, they'll have to try harder if they want him... because he doesn't intend to stop running anytime soon. Jory
Name: Lucius "Lux" Jett (A.K.A.

Chim
If I'm not too late with signing up: I have an idea for an ability but it might be Sue-ish. So I would like to have the opinion of some experienced RP'ers before I make a character. Abilty: Time Rewinding (small amount of time only) I had this idea when I had a déjà vu moment. Basically my character can rewind time and people not aware of it will experience a déjà vu. Those people will do exactly the same as they did the first time, but people who are aware of it can change their actions. So they can run to the left instead of the right, which will trigger an entire new event (and also affects everyone involved). My character can only affect a max amount of time. And every time he uses it, he has a 5 min window before his body shuts down and he can't move. The duration is the same as the amount of time he rewinded. (Not exactly sure where the limit should be. I was thinking 10/15 min?) I thought it would be interesting to use. If it's not allowed / stupid / ... let me know and I'll probably go for something like gravity control. (You need the consent of other players before you can flat out make their character do something, one of the basic rules of RPing) on a side note, I assume we all give Flux the consent to do this when needed by our signing up, yes? though you may want to keep Gravity manipulation in mind as well, I personally think it will be more fun and simpler for everyone in the RP than just inducing the butterfly effect whenever your character uses their ability. but I don't make the decisions here, Flux does. Flux
Time control oculd be a viable power as long as you balance it well, which you seem to have done. The fact that people can realize what happened, and the effect of the character's body freezing up make this okay. However, I would recommend only being able to rewind time a few seconds at a time when you do this (Maybe 30 at most) in order to keep it balanced, as well as having a cooldown time. As for gravity... Let's just say that there is a very important character planned with that ability, so use it if you wish, but realize that there will be someone else who has it, and that he will most definitely be better at controlling it than your character... @Stratos Yes, you did give me that consent. I don't plan to use it a whole lot, but will in the case of plot progression.

I won't say I'm as experienced as some of the other guys, but here's my take. This is really similar to my character, Mr. Taylor's, ability in Under the Hill, and while I haven't used it all too much I can't see anything all too sue-ish about it. Again, I think just about any power could be pulled off properly without being sue-ish depending on the character who uses it. Take Jean Grey for example, by far the strongest mutant in the x-men, however she doesn't understand her powers and when the Phoenix finally takes over, she's not in control anymore. rustytengo
oh boo that probably means i can't join. though even if i wanted to i really couldn't think of any power other then like a few second pre-cog thing but that's a bit unfair in my head(so you want to punch me well i saw that your going to like two seconds ago so i will move my hand here to block it....see unfair{at lest in my head anyway}) other then that i thought of something involving erasing memories but only of my character i don't think that's fair either... i am not good at this. well maybe controlling and communicating with insects only flies though that would be interesting wouldn't it be hmmm...... Chim
Character Name: Eugene Smith (A.K.A Déjà Vu) Gender: Male Age: 16 Ability of the character: Time Rewinding. Eugene can rewind a small amount of time. Most people (those without powers) won’t notice it and experience a déjà vu. However those that do realize what is happening, can alter their actions if they want to, which triggers a new series of events with people affected by the alteration. After the use of this power, Eugene has a 5 minute window to act. After that his body shuts down and he can’t move for the same amount of time he altered. He also can’t use it repeatedly; only once every hour after he can move again. Eugene’s limit so far is altering 30 seconds which took a lot out of him mentally. Appearance: Short brown hair and green eyes, small (5’1) for his age. Usually wears blue jeans and a red sweater that seems too big for him. He also wears grey glasses. Personality: Paranoid, tends to panic easily as he doesn’t stand up for himself. He hates most people, but tends to be dependent on the few people he trusts. Background: Eugene didn’t have many friends at school. He was bad at almost every sport and has no fashion sense. Combined with his looks people stereotyped him as a nerd. He was bullied for years which made him lose all self-confidence and stay away from people. Eugene preferred to spend his Saturday nights at home playing videogames. A few days after the Pillar appeared, Eugene’s few friends got beat up while trying to stand up for him. He didn’t do anything and just watched. Afterwards he felt horrible and decided to stick up for himself. The next day he got into a fight with his bullies after school. Eugene got beat up pretty badly and some kids that were standing around were filming it. Suddenly they witnessed a car crash not too far from where they were. Eugene’s reflexes made him jump back with his hands protecting his face, even though the car couldn’t hit him. While he jumped back, he felt like only he was moving and saw small ripples around him. At first he had no idea what was going on. He had the feeling he was reliving the last 10 seconds before the car crashed so he knew what was coming. He dodged a punch, yelled ‘Car crash!’ and ran away. Few seconds later the car crashed exactly the same as it did the first time. Unfortunately for Eugene everything was caught on tape and shared on the internet. The government found the video and tracked him down. They tried to arrest him at his parents’ home, but Eugene had already left. Since everyone is tall, strong and handsome, I thought being the opposite would be nice. Flux
oh boo that probably means i can't join. though even if i wanted to i really couldn't think of any power other then like a few second pre-cog thing but that's a bit unfair in my head(so you want to punch me well i saw that your going to like two seconds ago so i will move my hand here to block it....see unfair{at lest in my head anyway}) other then that i thought of something involving erasing memories but only of my character i don't think that's fair either... i am not good at this. well maybe controlling and communicating with insects only flies though that would be interesting wouldn't it be hmmm...... Don't feel like you can't join just because you can't think of anything. I'm sure we could help with some suggestions. Memory erasing might actually be viable and interesting, though as long as it required direct contact and had some drawbacks. (Such as a way that they could get their memory back, or the effects not being permanent.) Don't be afraid to throw something out there or ask for some help. I'll get to work on writing up the IC thread.
Arkhi
Edit: Les'go. Character Name: Keaton Aome Gender: Male Age: 19 Ability of the character: An unparalleled level of quick thought and calculations. For example, if faced with danger, it could take Keaton only a second or two to come up with a solution. He can solve extremely difficult problems and equations/calculations at almost lightning speed, making him an expert hacker/programmer and puzzle-solver. He also has his phone, which he designed himself, with unlimited life (AWESOME) and connection at all times due to the upgrade of cell power in the new decade. rustytengo
okay first off Arkhidon yea know the average height of a white male is 5'9" do your character would actually be taller then average not short. well i do like memory erasing and i do agree with the direct contact(or at lest direct eye contact for a lesser effect) is good. though as a drawback if they where to be able to regain it back then the point of memory erasing is gone(at least thats how i feel about that). i was thinking for the drawbacks would be to 1) only be able to erase memories of the character not anything else(so say my character is with three other people and erases the memory of a person the person would remember the other people just not my character. or another example would be my character was sent to get a package from a person then erases the memory of said person the person would remember giving the package away just not anything about who they gave it to). and 2) would only be able to erase memories from the last 5 minutes or what ever y'all think is good. but of course my character would not be able to do it over and over only able to use it like three times in a row until they needed a cooldown. but it only works for one person each time so the could only erase 3 peoples memories of them for five minutes each. well thats what i think would work how does it sound to y'all. Chevaleresse
How about this idea that totally wasn't stolen from the Sword of Truth series: You have the power of invisibility, and that's how you do it. If you so desire, people who see you simply forget you are there.

Flux
How about this idea that totally wasn't stolen from the Sword of Truth series: You have the power of invisibility, and that's how you do it. If you so desire, people who see you simply forget you are there. A little Chainfire, eh? I'd be fine if he went that route. If not, perhaps you could pull a little Code Geass and only use it once per person. (Still probably shouldn't be able to delete their whole memory, but maybe memories of recent events. If you go this route, I'd probably even allow a little memory restructuring, like making them remember something different than what actually happened. It probably wouldn't need any other costs since you can only use it once on a person anyway.) @Ark Character looks good. I'll move back the IC thread until rusty's character is posted and confirmed. Snap Crackle Pop
Hello~! Well, I was writing my character to sign up for this and it occured to me that I should check the other previously made characters to see if there were too many accidental simmilarities and it turns out that K_H has a character with a pretty similar ability as my character. Kenneth Holmes has the ability to controle Aura and my character, Alice Feinstein, has the ability to control and absorb general energy, is this too much of a similarity? I can really easily change it if anyone wants.
Flux
Honestly, it doesn't bother me to have two characters with similar abilities, since it is likely that such a thing would occur if a situation like this were ever to happen. (Yes, obviously it can't.) However, as someone who has participated in RPs before, I can understand that it might be bothersome for someone to have their ability "copied." (Even though you thought of it on your own.) If you can go into more detail about how exactly you wanted the power to work, I can give you a definite answer. rustytengo
Character Name: Beverly Nakamori (A.K.A. Wallflower) Gender: Female Age: 22 Ability of the character: Memory Erasing and Rewriting: She is able to erase and rewrite the recent memories of a person. She can only do it for the last 15 minutes the person has, and only through direct skin contact with the person or only six minutes if its direct eye contact for at least 6 seconds. She can only do it once per person and only about 4 times in row without at least a hour rest or else she becomes a bit mental unstable. Appearance: Half Japanese half Caucasian(favors more of her Japanese side) 22 year old girl (though she looks about 17) about 5'6" and about 115 pounds. With shoulder length black hair and Blue eyes. she normally wears a long long-sleeved dark grey dress, with black stockings and black shoes. She is usually seen carrying a doll or stuffed animal with her. Personality: She is usually expressionless and uncaring of people she meets usually keeping quiet and acting like a "normal girl" around them. Beverly developed as inferiority complex about her sister who was the star of her family.Who got the best grades in school had the most friends and was just perfect compared to her. But on the day the pillars rose Beverly finally was able to do something her sister was not. So excited she showed her parents buy erasing and rewriting her sisters memories of the families car ride that morning so her sister thought that Beverly died that morning in a car crash. Mad and scared at Beverly's power her parents called the police to tell them what they she did. Though once the police arrived to her house, she was gone and all her parents said was that she died that morning in a car crash that never did happened. well hopefully thats good, sorry it took so long writing a back story and showing memory erasing in a public display is quite hard. and we needed a female character as well.
