Sneaky Little Onix

So I have been thinking about possibly doing a steel monotype run for reborn as my psychic one is already starting to bore me. So we obviously know that Piplup is the earliest pokemon capabale of becoming a steel type in reborn, but after that, there isn't much for a while, making the 1st gym incredibly difficult. Rather than cheating and grabbing a random pokemon for help, I'd like to see what I can do to get another one early on. I looked through the Pokemon Location Guide pinned and saw that there is an event in Peridot for Onix, but I haven't been able to figure it out or find any topics explaining how to get it. If anyone knows if I could get it this early on or how to get it all actually, could you help a brotha out? ;-;

RainbowDashie has covered this event but doesn't know the house. That part everyone's clueless on, but this event has been covered. Here is your info. Go get your Onyx!

Onix event: One of the empty houses in the Peridot Ward will have a Hiker inside, he will say that he moved in because it seemed empty to him and he will give you an Onix (as means of bribe, I reckon). (Clarification is needed what house it is/when this gets triggered!)

I believe the house was the one the Whismur used to be in. As goes for event triggering, all I know is that I got it work during the night when I went back to the hiker, talked to him, went into the house and talked to a salesman saying he was looking for someone to purchase the house, and then I went back to the Hiker to inform him of this, and then I had to go back to the house and the Hiker thanked me by giving me a Onix. I should take a picture of it.. but I'm lazy.

EDIT: Dammit it, I'm not.. but I was too lazy to crop it xD Sorry.

as far as i can tell since i have done that event a couple times you can't get it before you bet the first gym.

If your going for a steel mono you might want to consider burmy and pineco as well.
