UgandaPanda
Hi, my team consists of : Magmar (shiny) lvl 59, Flame Body, Chalcoal Sunny Day FireBlast Hidden Power (Fighting) Confuse Ray NineTales lvl 59, Drought, Heat Rock FlameThrower Extrasensory Will O Wisp Calm Mind Charizard (shiny) lvl 59, Solar Power, Sky Plate Flamethrower Fire Spin Air Slash Smoke Screen Pyroar lvl 58, Moxie, Charcoal Over Heat Flamethrower Crunch Hyper Voice Darmanitan lvl 60, Sheer Force, Charcoal Flare Blitz Super Power Belly Drum Fire Punch Camerupt lvl 56, Solid Rock, Shell Bell Lava Plume Earthquake Curse Yawn I'm having trouble with his whole team. Archer Leads off with octillery which I can take out with my ninetales somewhat reliably but then he sends out Sharpedo which is dealable with atleast one or two of my pokemon getting knocked out, however relicanth proceeds to sweep the rest of my team with a combination of hydro pumps and Head Smashes. Does anyone have any good ideas? Also If i could get some insight on the rest of his team it would be very helpful too. Thanks This is Archer in 7th Street btw
Cepheus
Ninetales lead is a must because of drought, which weakens his Water-moves. for Sharpedo and Relicanth, Magmar and Darmanitan are your best bet with his Hidden Power Fighting and Super Power. Maybe give one of them a Black Belt to power up this moves, since improving Fire moves doesn't really help here. (I have one on my Blaziken, but I really don't know anymore where I got it.) Maybe even a Quick Claw to outspeed them and get first hit. with these moves. Is 60 your level cap? I don't really remember anymore^^ Ninetails Will-O-Wisp to cut their Attack in half and inflict end-turn damage might help Cinfuse Ray is also good. since 50% on self hit is pretty strong on physical attackers like Sharpedo. Darmanitan can learn Grass Knot (from TM) to deal with Relicanth, but then you need do delete an old move (maybe Super Power, since you may relearn it for a Heart Scale?) It's a shame we don't have Solar Beam yet... Edited June 10, 2014 by Cepheus
UgandaPanda
Thanks for the reply, Ill give that a shot. hopefully the rest of his team isn't too bad. I really feel like this fight rides on how long I can keep my ninetales alive. Do you know any other fire types I could train to make this a little easier? I think the level cap is 60 but I'm not sure since I haven't played this save file for a while. I'm getting closer tho, will o wisp really helps on the relicanth wooot, finally beat him on my 8th try, Darmanitan put in work, I got off a belly drum while his blastoise was recharging from hydro cannon and proceeded to sweep the rest of his team with super power. I guess the level cap might be higher than 60 cos darmanitan ended up over 60 by the end of the fight. Cepheus
You could get the Tepig from Pyrous Mountain (Event) and make it an Emboar (Fire/Fighting) that way you could get Fighting STAB-Moves. (but only learns Arm Thrust on level 17 while evolving and Hammerarm via Heartscale as Fighting Moves) You got Houndour after attacking the Aqua base, right? -> Houndoom could also be viable since it can learn Thunder Fang (Heartscale or breeding... don't remember) you cannot get Litwick yet (get one as soon as possible! Chandelure is a BEAST!) I don't know the rest of his team anymore...
UgandaPanda
Thanks, I guess most people don't have troubles with him i think ill train a houndoum to replace my pyroar soon. Litwick seems interesting too, not sure which poke ill replace yet tho. not looking forward to the eventual rock ground and water type gyms coming up Edited June 10, 2014 by UgandaPanda
Cuddlesworth
You have 3 pure Fire types, consider changing one of them. Houndoom is good as you guys mentioned. And you also don't have to lead with Ninetales, since eternal weather isn't a thing anymore, unless I'm mistaken. Magmar can bring the sun for you just give him Heat Rock. Quick Claws can also help you esp. against that Sharpedo, Ninetales can Wisp him and he'll just be very fast. And, idk about Chandelure, I thought Litwick was readily available with the Soul Candle?? :\ or was it removed? As for the eventual Terra fight, Air balloons will be useful for your team =)
UgandaPanda
I didn't think about air balloons. thanks, that's definitely guna help for the earth gym. I want to replace atleast one of my pure fire types but i feel like i need ninetales and darmanitan and I love the shiny color of my magmar. but I think that if I'm going to replace any of the 3 it has to be magmar Edited June 11, 2014 by UgandaPanda
gutten_tag
It's a shame we don't have Solar Beam yet... you can always breed that move to Houndoom :v. And ninetales too, Vulplix can be breeded to get Energy Ball thought. Ernegy Ball and Solarbeam is enough for all water type. I didn't think about air balloons. thanks, that's definitely guna help for the earth gym. I want to replace atleast one of my pure fire types but i feel like i need ninetales and darmanitan and I love the shiny color of my magmar. but I think that if I'm going to replace any of the 3 it has to be magmar Chandelure is a monster, and you can breed Fire Blast/ Flamethrouwer and Ernegy Ball for it too. EDIT: basically all i want to say is, you need 3 things for every fire mono team: 1, Sunny day (of course) 2, Grass move. Super eff against Rock, Ground, and Water (all that 3 will tank many Fire moves and destroy fire type with ease). And don't use Grass Knot for that. 3, Status moves. Confuse/ Burn/ Toxic/ Sleep, whatever will be useful somehow when using a mono- team (lacking coverage) Edited June 11, 2014 by gutten_tag
UgandaPanda
oh, thats good to hear. I could definitely use some grass moves later on. Fighting Archer made me realise that I wont be able to power my way through with the current set up, especially against the coming gyms. Thanks for the info guys. Lynxiechan
And, idk about Chandelure, I thought Litwick was readily available with the Soul Candle?? :\ or was it removed? It is available according to the obtainable pokemon list and also the locations thread. Take a Soul Candle to where Luna's Arceus-Wannabe Maniac Father chained her to a Platform. Apparently it'll show up there. I have no idea, though.
