[OOC] Dragon RP

Hollow dragons are the good equivalent of dracoliches. Mithril dragons are immortal and native to the Astral Sea.

I'm going to make a list of playable dragons, sorted by alignment tendency. For now, I would allow dracoliches, hollow dragons, and mithrils, but on a case-by-case basis.

The DnD rules are guidelines; we have a lot of flexibility. Do we want to RP a dragon's entire life up until where our world is at, or just ask for lengthy backstories? (Length would be affected by age, obviously.)

Also, Hukuna, care to write up a summary on gem dragons?

For each one? Sure I can handle it lol. I think I will read up on Mithril Dragons, just to make sure they don't ever become a problem.

I think we should opt for the backstory option, this way people understand why we can't always just willy nilly hand you the reins to roleplaying a dragon. Dragons are tough beings to Roleplay in a meaningful way, without just being something that destroys everything in it's path. They have weaknesses just like every other creature, they just seem to have none.

P.S. if this does end up starting I am going to have to crack the whip a bit, what this means is i am going to be extra on edge for this RP. This is a tough thing to roleplay and I am going to be a little less inclined to let things slide on this one. Don't worry, I will still be the Hukuna Sensai you guys remember, just need to make sure nobody goes full Sue on us, because it is very easy to cross that line as a Dragon.

(How we handling Naturally learned spells from Dragons? that might be only a 2nd edition thing, but if it isn't we using that or no?)

I'm interested as well, but before I make a character I would like to know more about the humans. Since I have no idea how to RP a dragon, I might go for that. Are they close with dragons or fear them? Can I be a farmer / adventurer ... or even join the dragon slayers / dragon riders?

I think the Dragon Riders are humans and the slayers probably are as well, though I think it is ultimately up to you guys. A lot this world will be created through the Dragons and other players back-stories. I am not overly sure how important the race of te character is, but I am sure we will have most normal Fantasy races included. Now whether the Tribes of Dragon Rider/Slayers are made up of many different races is up to you guys. Murdoc and I are leaving a bit more of the world details to the players this time around.

So I've edited a bit more into my post in the other thread. Just posting here so you'll know and can check it out when you have time, since Murdoc said he wants us to keep posts to a minimum in that thread.

Most humans fear dragons, because many dragons will eat humans. Members of the dragon rider clan do not have the same fear, but still have a healthy respect for them. You can be a part of whichever faction you want. The dragon slayers would have a higher proportion of humans and dwarves, races that aren't associated with magic. The dragon riders would have more elves and dragonborn, but there are no restrictions on either. Hell, if you want to, you can play a goblin.

I should say right now that you should ask before eating a player character.

Name: Ka'el

Species: Black Wyvern, Frost-Breath (If Wyverns can have that... Unsure exactly what I should do about ancestry and breath concerning wyverns. Any ideas?)

Age: Adult, closer to Elder than Young.

Ancestry: (Not exactly sure what to do here... Family of wyverns I guess?)

Appearance: Wyvern body, covered in black scales, as dark as night. He has powerful back legs and a wide wingspan. Narrow, but regal face shape, with two black horns facing towards his back, in-line with his head. Two small trails of red scales between his eyes, which are a deep blue with flecks of gold. At the top of his wings are small claws, similar to small hands, the trademark of wyverns. (Perhaps I'll try drawing something... It would be interesting as I haven't really drawn dragons before...)

Backstory: Will fill in later...

So yeah, some help on the areas in question would be great. I'm planning for him to start as a neutral-ish party, as an enemy of the humans. Though with enough persistance, someone playing a dragon rider may be able to tame him... If they wouldn't mind becoming a wyvern rider.

Frost breath is associated with silver, cobalt, and white dragons. You would be a hybrid of black and white dragon, and judging by your appearance, you would have some red dragons in your ancestry. (Wide wingspans and powerful builds.) Ancestry is basically an explanation of why you look like you do, helps hint at your personality, and determines what breath weapon you have. Since you're a frost breather and metallics don't breed with chromatics often, I made you a white dragon (even though you are black.)

Ah. So while technically a white wyvern, the scales are still black (With the small streaks of red) due to his ancestors being black and red wyverns (With the obvious white wyverns mixed in), correct? That makes sense now. I'll edit that in when I get a chance. Also, I unfortunately will most likely not be here when this starts up. As you may have seen in The Awakened OOC thread, I'll be gone for the next week, so if we're started by then I'll just have to catch up.

Hey.. so finally i've caught up with this thread.. i just wanted to say that this is my first RP and i don't really have any idea about DnD that much.. I basically enjoy the entire mythical/fantasy genre and this seems to be something that i would like considering i really like writing.. After seeing hukuna and murdocs posts i'm really wondering if i'll be able to manage it.. also if you could give a link to the rules of DnD you mentioned it would help alot.. thanks.. :)

I posted a link to my books in here somewhere. . .

Don't worry about knowing the mechanics, though. I used DnD because they've got solid material for roleplaying, and it's flexible to boot. We're not using DnD combat mechanics, though.

I would like to see a bit more to his backstory (Like, I am saying a minimum of 4 paragraphs at least for an Elder you need a wide breathe of time for such a character.), remember he was alive for 100's of year if he is close to being an elder. Only other thing, is if you can try and touch up your grammar if you can, this back-story is going to be decently long so It needs to be clear and precise on what you are trying to tell us.

I know man, why I am not going to get bent up about it lol, I just need it for ease of reading. Dragons can easily become Sues if we aren't careful so I need to have as much understanding as possible, I wouldn't be cracking down this hard if it wasn't an RP where you are playing a Dragon lol.

It is hard for me to say 4 is enough, like really hard lol. But then again I don't want you guys to go insane lol. Trust me though the more the better, there would be a lot of important crap in their lives seeing as they were thousands of years.

I got nothing,(its kinda repetitive on what he does, hiding in the sands and destroying stuff for years, not much of a development.) I'm running out of ideas on how Elesh Norn's experiences is going to achieve his young elder dragon-hood.(i'll just expand it when something comes up, let just say he's 600+ for now. lol) thanks for understanding guys.

Yea I would say just cut his age down a bit, he sounds like it wold be better for him to be younger anyway, that way he is more brash (and more likely to have gotten himself into his situation lol. I will look over it in a sec.)
