Cepheus
Hello everyone. Today I stand before you to announce my intention to build my Pokemon-League for the upcoming Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire games. What is the meaning of this? Easy. I want to create up to 23 Pokemon-Teams with 6 Pokemon each, which will represent: 18 Gym-Leaders (one per Type... just like in Reborn) - Monotypes 4 Elite4-Members 1 Champion Actually I wanted to do this already with X/Y for a fun, as a special challange for my buddies (since I'm the greatest Pokemon-nerd from us) but as it turned out my buddies chickened out and didn't get the game like they promised... so I was stuck playing it alone, and eventually discarded the whole idea (although I put together a few teams). Now with ORAS coming in November I thought: "Hell, maybe this time they keep their promise... and if not: I'm now part of an awesome community." Soooo "why is this in the 'Trainer School' section?", you may ask... simple: I may be the biggest Pokemon-nerd in comparison to my buddies... but I'm terrible with strategies and in some cases team building, that's where I need help. That's because I never really played competitively... but I must confess: Reborn has taught me not to rely on pure strength alone... so I learned something about new play-styles and adaption only by playing this game and being around on the Forums. (like adapting my Team, and adding two bulky Steel-types with defence boosting moves, only for Noel) You see, normally I go all brute force move-pools in the main-series, since I never really played competetively... and it worked in the game (1 STAB-Move per type, rest coverage). Now I know my buddies would most likely play the same way... get rid of status-moves and/or weak utility moves (like priority-moves), and most certainly they don't give a damn about entry hazards. I ask now for assistance so I may prepare my teams in advance on my X-Version (hooray for Pokebank!) and well... since i never went online, except a few wondertrades, I may not have every Pokeom available. As a rule-set I would like to not use legendaries on either side for a few reasons: - In my opinion I find the use of legendaries cheap. - some are hard to come by without cheating/duplicating or not living in a certain Country where they are/were given away. (Event-give aways for example) If you guys want, I can post the Teams I put together earlier (damn... I haven't played X in about 2 months or so...) and let you look over them, just to see if they would work well (without move-sets... I only put them together in a box and would have given them the moves when I would have trained them) So yeah... If you want to help me out I'd appreciate it, but don't expect me to have everything ready in a few days. I don't have time to do it in the next weeks, maybe one or two hours here and there... but I just wanted to start it off, so I don't forget about it, and have as much preperation time as possible. (I might even put together some badges with a graphics-software^^)
Tacos
well, show us some teams so we know how to constructively criticize :I
Sapphire
I'm currently doing this one another forum...Why not just use official Nintendo rules? Total ban on all event mons, ban on Soul Dew, but otherwise everything is legal. This allows for weaker legends like Moltres, and laughably terribad ones like Regigas. Though my other forum that's doing this (run by me!) we have a blanket ban on legends, as they go against the leader 'theme'.
Cepheus
So we have an expert here Well, I cannot show my Teams now, because I don't have my 3DS on me right now... Need to wait another 2 or 3 hours until i get home...^^ I know my Champion-Team was an Eeveelution-Team ... you know because certain reasons *cough* What worries me the most are the Elite-4 Teams... since with 18 'Gym-leaders' I already got every type covered... my thought for 3 them was: Starter-Teams! Fire-Starter, Water-Starter, Grass-Starter... and number 4... well I could Switch the eeveelution-Team to number 4 and then use my Ingame-Team as the Champion-Team... My main-goal is to have fun, and take my buddies out of their comfort-zone... Reborn-Style But feel free to make team suggestions^^ edit: I just remembered: my Rock-Team consisted purely of fossil-pokemon: Edited June 17, 2014 by Cepheus

Cepheus
Ok... here are the 5 teams I put together a few months ago... I won't go into details with the moves. I just put them together and didn't really adjust the moves (and I only list the last evolution, even if they are still not evolved inside my PC-Box^^) Rock (Fossil-Badge): ------- (Mega-)Aerodactyl [Rock/Flying] Tyrantrum [Rock/Dragon] Armaldo [Rock/Bug] Cradily [Rock/Grass] Bastiodon [Rock/Steel] Carracosta [Water/Rock] Fairy (Magic-Badge): ------- Clavion [steel/Fairy] Carbink [Rock/Fairy] Florges [Fairy] Sylveon [Fairy] (Mega-)Gardevoir [Psychic/Fairy] (Mega-)Mawile [steel/Fairy] Note: 2 Possible Megas... Dark (Nocturn-Badge): --------- Weavile [ice/Dark] ... need to rename it to Vinny Bisharp [Dark/Steel] Sharpedo [Water/Dark] Krookodile [Ground/Dark] Scrafty [Dark/Fighting] (Mega-)Absol [Dark] Water (Hydro-Badge): --------- Starmie [Water/Psychic] Poliwrath [Water/Fighting] Lapras [Water/Ice] Tentacruel [Water/Poison] Whiscash [Water/Ground] (Mega-)Gyaradow [Water/Flying || Water/Dark] Note: I didn't put my Greninja in here, because I didn't wanted to use pokemon from my normal team... and as I stated I eventually wanted a Starter Team, and I didn't want to get some double pokemon at that time... but now...^^ Poison (Venom-Badge): ---------- Toxicroak [Poison/Fighting] Skuntank [Poison/Dark] Crobat [Posion/Flying] Nidoking [Poison/Ground] Drapion [Poison/Dark] Scolipede [bug/Poison]
Nico Nico Nii~
I'm only giving suggestions for rock since it's the only one I have a lot of experience with. For the rock team I would suggest swapping Carracosta out for Omastar since you lack special attackers (unless cradily, but still) and it could set up some toxic/spikes if you want, and it can also be a special shell smash set for rock type. Looking at the badge name it seems you'll only do fossil pokemon, which is fun and all, but other rocks (tyranitar, gigalith(personal favorite lead especially when custap berry is obtainable), shuckle) should also be looked at, especially Tyranitar. I have never not seen a Tyranitar in a monorock team. Edited June 18, 2014 by personwithbanana9870
Chevaleresse
http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8580 http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8707 Both of these hold their own against OU teams. Steel and Bug, if you're too lazy to click. EDIT: The Mono-Steel has Heatran in it; you could probably swap that out for like Empoleon or, since you don't want starters, Bronzong. Cepheus
@PWB I thought it would be cool to use only fossils, and from all Rock-types I like them the most. I used Carracosta because I can't get Omastar in X (Helix and Dome Fossil only available in Y), and as I said, I had noone to trade with (safely). Same goes for Tyrannitar, iirc I couldn't get it on my X-Version. (but I have the Tyrannitarnite... I think...) I have not settled for anything yet. So I could completely revamp the Rock-Team. @King Murdoc Thanks I'll look into it.
Nico Nico Nii~
If you need some fossils and tyranitar i can trade you some spares I have.
Sapphire
Starter teams generally aren't that good-definetaly not deserving of an E4 spot. Same for Eeveelutions as a Champion team.
