dondon151
I say "nearly" because Blaziken has big problems vs. Aya and Radomus. Magus posted a speedrun topic back during episode 11 and it doesn't seem like he's come back to it in awhile. This route is incomplete and can probably be optimized more. I have to go somewhere real soon, so the formatting isn't going to be great. It's also incredibly long and I try to be thorough and cover some contingencies. For hidden items, I have screenshots of their locations, but imgur is censored where I currently am. I also only scoured for hidden items up to around Kiki, so if any of you can point out valuable hidden items to me that I missed (e.g., vitamins), that will be much appreciated. Any feedback would be nice, too. Move Blaziken to the 1st party slot. Give Charcoal to Blaziken. In the Subseven Sanctum main area, first go to the left. Cultist Lyle - 1x HJK vs. Wigglytuff Go into the purple alcove and input 3827 into the purple statue. Go up into the blue alcove and input 1605 into the blue statue. Go back down and around to the right side of the sanctum. Cultist Brenden - 1x Blaze Kick vs. Ledian - 2x Brave Bird vs. Altaria Blaziken grows to L59. Go into the green alcove and input 0204 into the green statue. Go up into the red alcove and input 2303 into the red statue. Head back to the bottom of the map and go up to trigger a cutscene. Leave 7th Street and go back up to Lapis Ward. Have Ralts use Teleport to warp to Vanhanen Labyrinth. Near the labyrinth entrance, go down from above the tree to enter Iolia Valley. First take the left-most path down, and interact with a red crystal. Along the way, interact with another red crystal. Pick up the Crystal Plug for green crystals at the end of the path. Go back to the Iolia Valley entrance. Next take the center path down, and interact with a green crystal. Along the way, interact with a red crystal and trigger a cutscene with Bennett. Pick up the Crystal Plug for blue crystals at the end of the path. Go back to the Iolia Valley entrance. Next take the right-most path down, and interact with a blue crystal. After crossing the bridge, take the upper path and interact with a green crystal. Along the way, interact with a red crystal. Inside a cave with a fork, take the lower path. Interact with a green crystal at the end of the path, then return to the bridge. Take the lower path and interact with green, blue, green, blue, red crystals. Trigger a cutscene with Bennett, then pick up the Crystal Plug for purple crystals. Interact with a nearby purple crystal, then continue on the revealed path. Along the way, interact with blue and red crystals. Interact with the purple crystal at the end of the path. Go back to the Iolia Valley entrance. Take the left-most path down, and exit into a new area. Use the nearby healing star, then interact with a red crystal and save. Lepidopterist Bennett - 1x Brave Bird vs. Larvesta - Blaze Kick sweep vs. Scyther, Yanmega, Dustox - Brave Bird sweep vs. Butterfree, Venomoth Blaziken grows to L60. Use the nearby healing star, then interact with a purple crystal. Give Blaziken a Cheri Berry and save. Dark Dreamer Luna - 2x Bulk Up, 1x Blaze Kick vs. Bisharp - HJK sweep vs. Malamar, Tyranitar, Honchkrow, and Umbreon - 1x Blaze Kick vs. Sableye Blaziken grows to L62. Reset if Blaziken gets paralyzed twice vs. Bisharp. Reset if Blaziken KOs itself from confusion vs. Sableye. Split: 5h 34m This is as far as I've gotten for now. Additional notes for revisions: Do not obtain the Moon Stone or Skitty and instead grab Glameow after getting Cut. It will cost an extra $1500 haircut for Blaziken, but this can be made up by selling a Resist Wing found next to the Grand Hall. The current route accidentally spends an excess $2800 on Swoobat haircuts due to lack of information. After defeating Florinia for the 2nd badge, stop by a house in West Peridot Ward and grab the Snubbull. Snubbull replaces Delcatty as the Strength and Rock Smash slave, plus Granbull can learn Rock Climb and Snubbull has Intimidate. Also grab a nearby Clever Wing hidden in West Peridot Ward for an extra $1500. Snubbull may be able to go from L20 to L23 if it were used in place of Delcatty. Teleport seems to be minimally useful due to how the Teleport points are set up. It may be better to collect sufficient shards to grab an Abra off 7th Street later in the game instead of getting Ralts. Magus
Speedrunning is the work of the devil in my eyes. <-- Completionist. As I said before, there are 100% speed runs, even with pokemon. I believe that a 100% would be catching all the pokemon in the game (Reborn) and beating the latest episode.

I believe that a 100% would be catching all the pokemon in the game (Reborn) and beating the latest episode. For the record, my latest full clear testing run of Reborn in E12 was clocked at around 37h. (That's completing every sidequest alongside the main questline)
dondon151
Mwhahahahahahaha a challenger has appeared... My current time is 9hrs 7min Also on that: "boi you tryn' to take my thunder" Well, I think I can beat 9h 7m for Samson, seeing as I'm at 5h 13m after Radomus and there's not too much up until Luna and Samson. But CHALLENGE ACCEPTED nonetheless. I've got my lightningrod handy. By the way, I'm interested in what Teleport shortcuts you were using, because I can't seem to find any. I can't teleport to the cabin in Tanzan Cove because it doesn't count as a healing spot, and I can't teleport from Vanhanen Castle to Lapis Ward after defeating Radomus because it seems like entering Vanhanen Castle causes it to be set as a healing spot. The only Teleport shortcut I can think of that might work later on is to Vanhanen Castle after rescuing Luna, provided that something else doesn't inject itself as a healing spot. So if that's the case, then there's no Teleport shortcuts available between Ralts and Abra, which means that I might as well ignore Ralts and get an Abra, unless it turns out that I need to grind up a Gardevoir for the endgame, because sweeping with Swoobat tends to be really difficult. Wow, wow. Didn't think anyone would do this, very impressive. Do you think this speedrun route could be done with other mons such as Infernape, Gyarados (ugh I mentioned it...) etc. You'd have to write a different route with other starters, probably. Blaziken is just the near perfect combination of great offensive stats, high-powered STABs (HJK especially), a boosting move, and an ability that's perfect for sweeping. Infernape, for example, is fast enough to probably not need Speed Boost, but doesn't hit quite as hard and lacks a boosting move - his STABs are physical, but Calm Mind is special. Most other starters are really not robust enough to end up soloing most of the game. Water starters are SOL between Julia and Florinia, and Grass starters are generally bad. Swoobat also happens to be a really good partner to Blaziken, because it takes care of 2 troublesome gym leaders, plus it also has the requisite boosting move and an ability to amplify it. Swoobat does a good bit of work in this route. It would be difficult to find a single partner Pokemon to most other starters, mostly because of the fact that there are very few objectively good in-game Pokemon remaining due to Ame's penchant for taking them out (watch Woobat suddenly disappear when episode 13 is released - it's not even that good!). And I have no idea where the get a Gyarados anymore. EDIT: I keep seeing RMTs with Black Belts. Where do I get a Black Belt? And a Twistedspoon, I could use a Twistedspoon. And a Twistedspoon, I could use a Twistedspoon. The answer to the former is "you cannot" as it was removed not merely moved like Ralts was. As for those two items I believe they're 5% wild hold items from certain 'mon so I'm not sure how helpful they'd be for a speedrun. The Arceus Plates on the other hand.. Magus
My old route is very outdated, and I didn't really have time to optimize it before Ame changed everything. Teleport saved huge amounts of time, because ralts was easy to get, before it was moved, and used during the strength fetch quest. You could teleport back to Apophyll Academy from Azure Island and from the top of Mt.Pyrous. As a matter fact, you skip the trigger that causes team meteor to appear there by teleporting back from Azure Island. It also save a lot of time just in general on the map and backtracking early on. Also If you pick up a magnemite, you can completely destroy Aya. Also on that note, I haven't touched episode 12 because of other speedrunning projects. dondon151
The Arceus Plates on the other hand.. I thought those were only obtained through mining? My old route is very outdated, and I didn't really have time to optimize it before Ame changed everything. Well, I'd welcome it if you decided to work on it again. I think I'm going to stop the planning at Luna and wait for episode 13 to come out so I can have a better time getting to Samson, what with the Route 2 lag and all that. It's actually a shame now that Ralts was moved so far back, because the Teleport scenario that you described seems to be one of the few that's actually abusable in-game, since a lot of locations that the player has to go to end up being set as new healing spots. I guess we should continue lobbying for a pre-Apophyll Natu, or something! The Magnemite is a decent idea that I might employ if I have to go the grind-up-a-Gardevoir route in a later revision. Problem is that it's not really sufficient as a long-term team member because it doesn't have a boosting move and it's kind of slow. I think Quagsire and Musharna also do pretty well as temporary Pokemon vs. Aya, but Quagsire has to watch for Muk's Giga Drain. But for the if we go a bit more long-term, Swoobat still looks like the best. EDIT: I just finished the route up until Luna, which is where I'll leave it for now. The split is currently 5h 34m. IIRC Super Repels are buyable in Agate Circus, so I have an excess of about 27 Repels. I also remember that Hyper Potions are buyable there, and I still have 18 unused Berry Ice Creams sitting in the bag. The absence of lategame EXP is very well illustrated in the route. I didn't use a single Common Candy after Noel and my team of 2 Pokemon is now in fact somewhat underleveled. I'm not sure if the situation will improve in the future, but I have 26 unused Common Candies. With more optimized item purchasing, I can definitely squeeze in 2 more Rare Candy purchases along the route. We mind double posts so I'll just fix this up nicely for you this time okay? ~ B. Sheep
8 hours isn't really a long gap. Probably would have been better to just edit the previous one. dondon151
Episode 13 just got released, so that means that it's time to start over and update the route. I am unfortunately very busy and there are some questions to which I would like to know the answer before I start over. If you're feeling generous, I'd like for you to help me out. 1. Are most Pokemon still in the same place? I am curious in particular about Woobat, Ralts, and Abra. 2. Have there been any big changes to the locations and identities of hidden items? 3. Do X items now work correctly? There was no mention of them in the changelog. 4. What exactly was changed for the Shelly and Shade battles (i.e., field effect and lead Pokemon)? 5. I read that there was an unintended big skip in the new content. Where should I stop beforehand? If Ame reads this, is the problem with the new events going to be patched in the near future? Administrators Amethyst Posted September 9, 2014 Administrators Share Posted September 9, 2014 1- Those three are the same 2- Nothing comes to mind immediately but it's not entirely impossible. I don't keep very good track of hidden items since they're mostly random. 3- Not yet. Going to try and do that for 14. 4- Shelly fights in a Forest Field with a doubles team. Shade fights in the Short-circuit Field. 5- As of 13.1 posted a moment ago, it has been patched.
dondon151
Awesome. I'm pretty confident that the Blaziken + Swoobat core can do everything that it did previously, but I hope none of the changes have screwed that one. Does the 3rd floor of the department store still sell hold items for battle (Scope Lens, etc.)?

dondon151
What's on the third floor now? EDIT: I have a question about the Glameow event. I know that you have to talk to the clerk in Salon Glamazonia, get a haircut from the Central Salon, and then return to Salon Glamazonia to retrieve Glameow. Does it work if you get a haircut from the Central Salon first, and then talk to the clerk twice in Salon Glamazonia?
