We don't have a section for serious discussions about politics and stuff. It spills over into statuses where it doesn't really need to be, so why not take the backchannel approach? Let's get a section dedicated to intellectual, serious conversation. This would have pretty strict moderation policy on it, I would presume, simply because loose modding policy tends to kill off seriousness and can lead to people escalating things past where they need to be when a topic like politics comes up.

I disagree, erm.. Simply having strict modding doesn't necessarily mean that it will not escalate further for one, since there's a stark contrast between server mods and forum mods, though server mods have the ability to moderate both, it won't stop two people from going at it on the server, escalating their political disparity into something that results in a personal battle between the two that could escalate at a time of weakened authoritiative strength, which is during the late night/early morning hours, where it's like 4-8pm my time, and miiiight have a debate here, which cooooould go into a back channel, which could then attract a large audience, sides taken, and a small conflict of politics become a conflict of individual morals and ethics, sides being taken, beef being created.

imo, like, I don't think the general Reborn population should have a thread like that, because it'll cause a cesspool of shitstorms that are unwanted, mainly because people here are very very unafraid of voicing their own opinions in an aggressive manner if they see fit, and has been displayed throughout many cases throughout the span of this place up until the present, and you can't really discriminate against maturity unless a lack of maturity has been displayed, and even then, it's hard to make it available to the general public and then shut people down, because then it becomes a whole different issue.

I just disagree with this concept because you cannot ensure that strict moderation will guarantee no leaks, and people will put their opinions above others, resulting in further conflict, which is not what people want.
